Pixey Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Hmm ......... yes, I can see a face, but I can see other images too - like the statue of Liberty having a 'wobbly' . Great colors! AndrewDavid Posted April 22, 2017 Author Posted April 22, 2017 (edited) I never did see the statue of liberty. But yes @hippiechos It was meant to use as many colors as I could. Thank you for visiting @lynxster4 You all have better eyes than I do. Here's something new I just threw together with the new filters from PS. Many more to come I'm sure. Woodsy Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 AndrewDavid, I see you found the Flaming Pear plugins. They do a lot of the work and they look good but I prefer to do the work myself. Your rendition is nice though, great colors. Quote My PDN Gallery
AndrewDavid Posted April 22, 2017 Author Posted April 22, 2017 Thanks @Woodsy Great eye to spot those plugins. I like their potential. Thanks for the point as well. Quote

AndrewDavid Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) I know I'm missing something to make it more realistic. Could it be proper use of shading? Any help would be appreciated. Edited October 19, 2018 by AndrewDavid refreshed link Quote
Beta0 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 @AndrewDavid You're welcome. I see you're getting into space-related art. Your planet's outcome is amazing. The glow around it reminds of an aurora borealis. X] As for your starship...I can't see it. I even went to the host, and it doesn't show. Quote A Gallery Where to find me :D (Please, be careful. hippiechos Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Your planet is very cool! And like Beta0, I can't see your starship either. Quote
AndrewDavid Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) Lets see if this makes a difference. Changed host sites and provided a direct link instead of a thumbnail. Edited November 3, 2020 by AndrewDavid Refreshed Link 2 Quote
Beta0 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) Yep! I can see it. X] I like the galaxy and the effect created with lights and shadows. And I love the grainy texture it has. I searched and seen a few spaceships. Yours has a shape that reminds me of a whale. In fiction, some alien spaceships can have shapes that looks less like a machine and more like a living being. Here's another example, but with a lean, futuristic design. When creating spaceships, people take something called artistic license. Maybe, you could play with that. As for the shading, make the upper part of the ship darker (almost black) because it's space. You can use the galaxy as your light source. The contrast of the light would depend on what finish would you like: glossy metal, matte metal or textured metal. Finally, you could add some small, dim lights coming from windows and/or 'flash-lights'. This might serve as an idea. I hope it helps. Edited May 2, 2017 by Beta0 Forgot 1 word... Pixey Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 So sorry - I missed the Planet you posted on the 22nd April - it's very, very good and so realistic . The star ship is quite mesmerizing and the colors are perfect . AndrewDavid Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 Thank you @Beta, @Seerose and @Pixey for your comments. I'm going back to the basics - black and white - shading only. The enterprise is a good shape to practice with. Nice to see you're up and running again @Pixey. Quote
Beta0 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 @AndrewDavid You're welcome. Black and white shading is a good way to start. By enterprise, did you mean the ship from Star Trek? Quote A Gallery Where to find me :D (Please, be careful. Some of the sites I'm on might not be family-friendly. 😱 )
