Inside Outside. 8/10 hours work over a period off 5/6 weeks,300+ layers 100% PdN.The other two are half and half.Mixed-media i suppose. Helen:You are so kind taking the time to comment here and on DA.Cheers. BBQ: George and the Dragon,my attempt at a fantasy piece. Not very dreamy thou. Red ochre
I like the new ones , George and the Dragon - I like the overall dark colours and the distortions. War torn - makes you think but the text confuses me (confused is my normal state anyway). Sadly it seems it is mostly the innocents that suffer in war. Inside out - I'm not surprised it took a while - loads going on and very enjoyable to ponder. Great work! Quote Red ochre Plugin pack.............. dug
Cheers Red Ochre and Welshy.I was a bit surprised at the positive reaction to George and the Dragon. My first attempt at fantasy, that turned into something from Dante's Inferno.Maybe it needed some good looking fairies in there. Again thank you both. Quote MY GALLERYD.A.TheRawAtom
dug
At long last I have (with a big, huge, enormous help from EER.) got my gallery back together again. That was a nightmare, especially when I don't have a clue how this stuff works. I know a lot more now. Good tip EER. gave me (everyone probably already knows, but just in case) is to save the code in the editor to a text file as backup. I would never have thought of that. I am only a lowly artist after all. Anyway 3 new pieces.Enjoy. Quote MY GALLERYD.A.TheRawAtom
blackpenny
Awesome gallery dug. Your work is so cool and clever. The detail is amazing. Great work on the new pieces. The strawberry looks yummy, Punkoid is cool, and PufferFish really fascinates me.
barbieq25
Punkoid- I love the way you did the nose & the face creases. So much to look at here. The pipes too are well done. Puffer fish is cute, dreamy. Love the softness of the swirls of beautiful colours. The strawberry one though is the pick for me. the blend of textures, the gloss & the strong colours I find very appealing. I like to think it is sitting a a bed of toffee shards but then I feel like I am being tricked & it is glass after all. Brilliant! Well done Dug!! Quote Knowledge is no burden to carry. HELEN
Dug, I left a comment for each image of the DA. I want to say that even though they may be on the eccentric side (Hey! Why not, right?) they are comical and are pleasant to view. They would be great mixed media pieces for an art class. sashwilko
Your 3 new works are excellent dug, I love how much details you put into them. Your work shows just how much power is available in paint.net
Pixey
Mind-boggling three new additions Dug. Your work never fails to bring a big smile to my face especially when I wake up in the morning. I think @Welshy took the words out of my mouth, says it all really and I also agree you are the best Picasso chappy in PDN. Red ochre
So pleased you've sorted the gallery problems - really enjoyed looking through the old ones - there are classics there!Your ideas are always strong and your technique is improving all the time. Punkoid - love the slight blur on the background - really gives a sense of depth. Lots of interesting details but not too 'busy',Best bits - curlylines hair, Hex shouldes & love the shadow on the '~watchchain' and telephone dial. Nice work on 'PufferFish' - clever distortions and blending in of the photo refs. Captures the those underwater light reflections well. Strawberry - a different style - sensuously juicy with a stuccato underbelly!(This art critic business is easy ). Quote Red ochre Plugin pack.............. dug
blackpenny: Thank you so much for taking the time, your comments spur me on. BBQ.: Cheers, the nose and face in Punkoid was, like a lot of times supposed to be the start of something kind of normal, but I just can't do it. My imagination takes over every time. Thanks so much for the cool comments. Helen: Thank you, your comments here and on DA always gladden my heart. I think mixed-media is the work I am enjoying the most just now. Sasha: Cheers for the wee visit. It is much appreciated. I am glad you re-posted your comp entry.I was there 2 years ago, you have to just keep going, it will soon pass.Just keep enjoying what you are doing. Welshy: As I said to BBQ. sometimes I start out kind of normal but just can't finish it. Maybe this is my normal. Anyway your comments always keep me going. A big thanx. Nanette: Thank you for such a cool compliment (humbled). I am glad I make you smile, no matter what time of day it is. Red ochre: I know everyone has been having nightmares with their galleries. I am just glad that EER. helped me out with my gallery or It would still be in a mess. Cheers for all the cool comments, you do have the knack for art critique. HELEN
I don't know where your ideas come from, but please do keep these images coming! You definitely have a knack for mixed media. HELEN
The PiB wallpaper looks like a shadow awaiting to greet a visitor. Great job on the other two images, as well. dug
Helen: Back in the early 70's when I first started painting I used acrylics and magazine cut outs. Then I moved to oils and gave up the cut outs, but I also took up photography,I never mixed the two until now. I have never touched a real brush since I discovered PdN.(Over two years now). I do miss the smell of linseed oil but not turps. Welshy: Your right about PiB being a bit flat my concentration was on trying to get the black paint to look wet. I think a shadow at the handle might just help with the hi-lights as well.Good call. Drewdale: Cheers for taking the time for a wee visit. All my life I have studied light and shadow, when you do that the detail comes naturally. I am glad you enjoyed my work. Blackpenny: Wow!... That is more than enough for me.Good to see you have started a gallery. Pixey: I do quite a bit of political work(just now I am working on an anti-bullfighting poster) so I try to do more humorous not so serious work on here.I just love when people say I make them smile. A big thanks to everyone much appreciated. 1 Quote MY GALLERYD.A.TheRawAtom
dug
I have just had a two hour battle with Photobucket trying to load up some new work.I thought this carry-on was all fixed. Red ochre
Hi Dug,Photobucket are trying to send themselves out of business - there's a very entertaining complaints/feedback thread on their site. However your new links are working (back to the album).OverEasy - great textures & nails.DueNorth - another Dug classic - love it!SoapBoxFrame - very clever techniques on the plant and rocks.Paint-it-black - great door handle but you're meant to remove the door-furniture before painting. Then undercoat & fill, then do the panels before the stiles and rails . Good image though - reminds me a little of Magritte's 'La voix du silence'.Bird-nesting - brought a smile - good work! 1 Quote Red ochre Plugin pack..............
