Mind map, Organigram effects.

Though an organigram can be created with Paint.Net's tools I think that some types can be automated by an effect. Currently there is a Pie Chart effect, The Spoked Wheel effect (in Toe_head2001's pack).  A few other's would be nice. Could be a practical project.

Hi xod, I did not think about the kaleidoscope effect.

 

I did it manually using the Ellipse Shape and the Line / Curve tools. For the example above, it would be nice if an effect could make it possible to create a certain number of circles, with variable sizes and the ability to spread them away from the center as desired.

I think rotation is necessary (It helps visualize the results of rotation from with  in the effect).

Is it possible to add an option to adjust the size of the circle in the center?

Increase the number of outside Bubble Number to 40 and the size of the Bubble Radius to 200 (It may not look nice when working on a small canvas but on a very large canvas the actual setting are not large enough)

@E.E.R - possibly use a double slider for sizes and calculate actual size as a proportion of the selection (minimum side or diagonal)?

Sure is. But I'm not going to add color customization options just for that circle. That would make the UI far too messy. OK?

 

I'm also considering adding a range of fairly basic shapes: Circle, Ellipse, Square, Rectangle, Diamond and possibly Heart. Any others I should consider?

Yes, I like cloud, and also petal like shapes (pointed, rounded...).

 

Perhaps it is too complicated but the ability to import an image (png) and spread it all around would be interesting.

I'm going to have to generate these shapes programmatically. Let's not get too carried away with complex shapes. They are, after all, designed to have text written into them.

• Larger bubble radius range
• More bubbles (up to 50)
• Rotation control implemented
• Center bubble size added
• Some shapes added (only four are active and apply to center shape only)

I think the term "Size" (on the first control) is a bit misleading.  I think "Arm Length" or something similar would be more accurate.

Agreed - but I don't particularly like Arm either.

 

I'm considering changing the nomenclature. I was toying with the idea that the arms are "Branches" and the tips Leaves, Petals or even Nodes.

 

Feel free to throw your suggestions at me. I'm listening.

Branch extensions, spokes, beams,
