Image Umbrella: Image Modification/Manipulation

Recommended Posts

great image Rob I like the cartoon effect. see those little white around the hair line you might want to take a black brush and fill them in. you are way way too young to be sporting that gray.

Here's one I did tonight. its actually a quick prelim sketch of a picture that I'm drawing, of course much larger and more detailed, with better coloration I hope. The paint.net program allowed me to visualize it better what it would look like when the benzatine layers were done and I darkend different areas.

original is in a book about 2 1/2 x 3

@ jake - wow, and that's all I can say is wow.

@ Lego - I really like the fade effect. But... the red eyes seem a bit overemphasized.

This is something I'm working on for "The Lava Lounge"

We've had a few shows recently and we're nearly an official venue. :D haha

I've taken it upon myself to make some interesting logos, the first being this.

In the finished product, I want to use a picture of a real couch. I've got to get back to my buddy with the camera. ;)

Any suggestions on making the letters look more realistic? :/ Perhaps my standards are too high for my current skill level, but I want (maybe even demand) that they end up looking like physical objects. Like plastic letters we just had lying around.

How bout you just make some letters then? Grab some cardboard and make them then spray paint them whatever color you want, now all you have to do is take a picture haha.

Here's something for Valentines Day:

EDIT: Maybe I should add the original haha

I am seeing some good work here, I wish if every one provided the source images to compare :P .

I like what Max Power posted (on page 14) and Jellyboots (on page 21) they both made a great job.

Here is my try in this thread:

Looks good, really good distorting. :)

Blur the background with unfocus+ instead of gaussian. And blur the highlights on the drops, it'll make it look more like the photo's version. ;)

wow great job on that yellowman! Looks great, and I agree with LFC4EVER about the blurring that would make it look even better.

Took a picture of my camera with my camera(used a mirror) lol:

I've been messing with trying to replicate the HDR image style in Paint.net and here's some of my first results:

fly74g.jpg

Some of the effects used:

-shadow/highlight recovery

-local contrast enhancement

-sharpen

-glow

plus some other adjustments

As soon as I get it to a point that looks good I'll make a tut

Excellent work on the HDR Jake! That looks fantastic! I like your version better than Photomatix's.

Storm.Shadow- Manip looks good- I wouls harpen up the moon a bit, and make the clouds fade as they get over the trees - looks a bit unnatural. Good job overall, though.

I think I have already flattened the picture. Thanks for your tip, though, and I haven't seen you posting for awhile.

Yellowman: I just love it!

Madjik Astonishing! Don't dare to ask how you did that cause I fear it will be too complicated for my skills

Jake2K your photos are awesomer and the way you bring the life to them is awesome. I have to say that the pics with the vintage look could use a little grain but overall the pictures with the editing do look very professional.

@ jake2k...This is excellent, I like the idea the water looks so pure and crystal, if you can re photograph it after trimming your nails( I assume they are your hands or your friends) or just try to modified them in such a way like fading out their white color.....( you have PDN don't forget and it is so powerful for these things) it will look much better.

And the other 3 images are very good too specially the phonograph looks very old picture  try adding a wide white frame to it with some dark spots and some cracks then apply the sepia effect it will look older.

@ SCUBA!!!!.... :D Good try, the front and trunk need some work it is blurry try to show more details
