Sozo
I made the galaxy in my sig in a very similar way, even though I hadn't seen this tut yet.
The Mystical Burrito
I think this would look pretty awesome if I combine the 3D objects tutorial into this. I'll be back with the results.

Khudozhnik
This is a very nice tutorial. Here's a galaxy I made: However, though, I do notice that the lighting of the Galaxy layer doesn't look exactly right. Still, good image, yes?
Mattbenai
Unfortunately, I can't complete step 12 because my browser won't show the pictures, and I can't fix that, so basically, I'm stuck on step 12.
Ego Eram Reputo
The links are broken. I tried the internet archive, but drew a blank on the images. Anyone have a copy of this tut with the images? Please PM me so I can restore them. IRON67
A little bit late, but here's my version... To make it more like real stars, I have edited a three-armed piece of Mandelbrot-image with local noise, more contrast and some color- and satuaration changes in 3 layers with different zoom and rotation. The background is made by Random Fill (circles only, size 1px) and Star Glow. Edited February 11, 2017 by IRON67
IRON67
And because I just have nothing better to do and have come to the taste ... This time the stars in background are from a real Hubble image. The two Jets from the centre of the galaxy are made by the plugin "Slinky", then unsharped (Trueblur) and again with Local Noise - one above and one behind the galaxy.
