doughty
Hi, all I was afraid of trying this tut a few months ago. Now, I don't know why I was. The outcome is terrific. Thanks MadJik. Edited April 8, 2012 by doughty

Yusuf Zah
Madjik, great image. It looks alienistic (this is good because I love science fiction). It is also magical (not magic - Madjik all). . Wow, fine job. Design rating: 10/10 Process rating 3/10 Inspiration rating 10/10 You really nailed it with the design and giving inspiration but in my opinion the process to get thick enough black lines was frustrating. Madjik, please get a newer version of hexagrid and edit your tutorial. With the version I have the black hexagons don't turn out as thick as yours with the same settings. Sorry, if I am blunt. Conclusion Great job overall, Madjik. Edited September 28, 2012 by Yusuf Zah
Yusuf Zah
Wow, I love how intricate that is when really it isn't all that complicated. I'll be using this, I'm sure! Edit: I created the example almost exactly, then flattened it. Then I duplicated the image, ran the "twist" distortion at 20 and 5 on the top layer and -20 and 5 on the bottom one, then set the blend mode to difference. I thought that looked awesome. Truly, it looks awesome.
Xhin
Awesome technique! Here's my result after playing around with some parameters (not zoom-blurring that last layer, for one thing):

Jack002
Hexagrid is a plugin (I assume) the link to it on the first post is bad. Any idea where it is? [edit] Found it! http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/3078-hexagonal-grid-v3-ymd100725/?hl=hexagrid Edited August 14, 2013 by Jack002

raxar
I made this so long time ago to the point I'm surprised that I ever made this, thank you Madjik (and the past me, you're great).
Discharge
This was my try. Used david.atwell's idea, with a few other ideas (layer duplication, polar inversion, etc) Tutorial? please... its awesome...!!!
pdnnoob
Unfortunately, Loaka hasn't been online since september of 2007 and likely won't be back to write a tutorial (probably forgot his/her steps by now) Try the steps david.atwell used in the post above the one you quoted, then play around with it from there. Maybe flatten, then duplicate layer, polar inversion, and change the layer blend mode. Use color tint to change the color maybe. Maximilian
56 minutes ago, Seerose said: I did not understand that line correctly. In step 4 you have to run the Hexagonal Grid plugin four times, each time on a new layer, each time with different settings: First time: Add a new layer and run Hexagonal Grid with Size = 55 and Brush width = 3 Second time: Add a new layer and run Hexagonal Grid with Size = 60 and Brush width = 4 Third time: Add a new layer and run Hexagonal Grid with Size = 65 and Brush width = 5 Fourth time: Add a new layer and run Hexagonal Grid with Size = 70 and Brush width = 6 Hope that helps
