TR's iPollock (March 3rd 2015)
Red ochre replied to TechnoRobbo's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
Thank you for the kind compliment - I still have much to learn in both subjects. -
how to crop an image to be rounded corner?
Red ochre replied to mixmedia's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Make sure the effect is just a file with the suffix ".dll' - (not in a containing folder called radius filled corners) and it then goes inside the "Paint.NET/Effects" folder. Good luck! - it's easier than it sounds. -

The new drizzles work well - great for textures! Thanks -
Change the Forum/program name to WarrenPaint.NET and swap?

Merge Visible feature for Layers
Red ochre replied to Ishi's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
I first save the Pdn file with layers. Then 'flatten' and save as a .png. Then undo. For tutorials I use the Windows 'Snipping tool' to capture the chequer-board background, plugin U.I.s or layers window etc. -
Well done CC4 & all. Thanks Chimay. I didn't understand the tutorial.

You can set up email alerts for when you get a new message - but don't ask me how I did it! (I think a dialogue appears when you 'follow' a topic, but probably wrong - perhaps its in your personal forum settings)

Radius Corners v1.6 (July 8, 2018)
Red ochre replied to toe_head2001's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
Thanks for your hard work toe_head! Impressive C# skills. I have my own eccentric way of coding effects and you will get better advice from others. That said, I would suggest: 1. Use the selection size and radius to calculate 4 circle centre PointF co-ordinates. 2. Use the 'G.D.I.+' to create 4 Graphics Paths and fill them with transparent white, with the smoothing mode set to anti-alias. 3. Make sure any graphics objects created are within a 'using' statement or Disposed correctly. My 'Facet' plugin uses paths herehttp://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/30133-gdi-randoms-problems/ (It's not the finished code but just needed the paths outlined and the randoms to use another variable.) Or for a low tech approach to anti-aliasing my 'Squirkle' code may (or may not ) help.http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/23194-squirkle/ Good luck! -
- exactly what I was thinking!

Copy paste text to multiple jpeg's
Red ochre replied to MM77MM's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Hello MM77MM, welcome to the forum, I would do it this way: 1. Create a new transparent layer. :AddNewLayer: 2. Delete the default (opaque white) background layer. 3. Put your text on the transparent layer - or seperate new layers for each peice of text - easier to move them around that way. 4. When happy with the layout merge these down to one (object) layer and save as a .PNG file type. (Use .png because it saves transparency). 5. Open your jpeg file and go to layers/import from file and put your saved text where you want it. 6. Merge to one layer. 7. Save as jpeg (use a different name than that of the original jpeg!). Better still, save as .png (lossless) and .pdn(so you can alter later). 8. You can repeat from 5. on each card. If you have an image on the front of the card you may need to use Canvas resize to make room for the reverse side with the text. Make sure you are working at 300+ d.p.i if intending to print. I hope that helps. -
Thanks for that racerx! I will have to download Aviutl and give it a go. Btw your accent is perfectly clear and the tutorial is well explained. The export Mp4 U.I. looks a bit intimidating - I'll deal with that when I get there.

Shape3D (2007-08-24) [Bug Fixed September 2023]
Red ochre replied to MKT's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
Being old fashioned, I do not have this problem yet and to be honest, I very rarely export xml settings.(how do you know you will need them - till you need them?) It would be great to be able to 'dump' all plugin settings for a session, in a file, but I can't see that happening. (fair enough, only 24 hours a day and unpaid! and too little appreciation.) (Everyone uses all plugins at default double vector position centre canvas because they know they will never line up all the angles again if they experiment = boring images (including me, mostly playing, rarely saving screenshots!)). There must be a way to save all those effect tokens (and adjustments - eg.R & Z), to save for later use? - but how to reload them? - best of luck who-ever takes it on - it would be Very useful. (for me, more useful than a plugin manager or even vector layers. If it's possible, it would be wonderful! - just an opinion and I understand if not possible/viable ). A global (per session) soloution must be better than a user being required to save every setting, for each plugin, for each session? - please - and ongoing thanks for the best graphics software available, bar none. (Adobe (grass & cow excrement, by definition) doesn't let me play 'programming' and Rick's U.I. is far superior.)) Have I said too much? An alternative to printscreen is the Windows 'snipping tool' which allows you to capture just the Shape 3D U.I. -
I did this by: 1. Using the magic wand to select the black (I used tolerance 17%). 2. Hit the delete key. 3. Use the 'AAAssistant' plugin in the plugin pack here http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=16643 4. Create a new layer below the icon 5. Fill with white (paint bucket and right mouse click with the lower layer selected). 6. Create a transparent gradient (gradient tool in transparency mode :AlphaChannelOnly:). Notice the corners are slighlty rounded out using this method - it is probably easiest to zoom in and clean these up manually. Other methods are probably possible but this was the easiest to explain. I hope that helps.

I'm playing fast and loose with the design brief but someone's got to go first! (feel free to disqualify me if I'm taking liberties).

I'd never noticed that for the magic wand - thanks!

TR's Filaments v1.0.15+ (Feb. 19th, 2015)
Red ochre replied to TechnoRobbo's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
SkullB 1. Create New layer. (for some reason the transparent background does not overwrite an opaque background layer?) 2. Run Filaments (any version) 3. When pattern shows click the 'base' color in the U.I. and slide the opacity slider to 0 in the color picker U.I. that appears. Hope that helps. -

Edit the effects list in Paint.net
Red ochre replied to racerx's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Not really, if they are in the same '.dll'. If the plugin author is still active on the forum it might be worth asking in the publishing thread for that set of plugins. The 'plugin browser' can be useful for tracking down which effect is in which dll. If, for instance, you have two versions of the same effect housed in differently named .dlls. -

Why no Vista support?
Red ochre replied to Sonicrider3's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
I share your pain! - however there are good reasons why Rick cannot make Pdn 4 work on Vista (various libraries that are not part of Vista). It is unfortunate that we cannot direct you to an on-site link to Pdn 3.5.11 but I believe it is still available here? (I hope) + (Always virus scan! & I take no responsibilty!) http://filehippo.com/download_paint.net/download/807aec344b3ae9e791d27718f0a46d26/ -
TR's Filaments v1.0.15+ (Feb. 19th, 2015)
Red ochre replied to TechnoRobbo's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
Thanks TR! - will try the latest. Edit: Tried it now - I think the lines look much better than in the very early versions and the closed loop and wider range of nodes are useful too.
