Atradese
Whoa ! Now that is green. I like it ! How did you do the outer swirl? Making a Vortex On a transparent layer. I used spirograph with these settings or near them at least: Angles 11 Density 5 Depth 50 Zoom 100 Gradient 127 Then make sure the boxes are checked for Lines, Black & White Lines, Filled with gradient and Fit rectical size. use magic wand at around 25% and cut out the center area. If you forgot and used the default white layer remove the area outside the spirogragh. Duplicate layer On the lower layer use Radial Blur at about 6 or 7 On the upper layer use Zoom Blur at around 16 or 17 Its not an exact science but this is as close to the settings I used as I could get. I had to recreate it. Enjoy! Side note: That whole picture came about becase I wanted to play with Gradient Bars. The only parts that are not background are the swirlyspaceything(thanks swalski) and the vortex. Being bored has its advantages sometimes I guess. mmaarrkkuuss
@possum roadkill: I like the fire effect on the...possum? I have made some avatars that I think will fit into this topic. They're based off this image. The colors were better on the smaller ones. They uploaded very quickly. Constructive critism is appreciated, and so is all feedback. Enormator
It's a bg for a game, so pls don't say it's too empty or something ;-) Quote :Link: website
Gutspill
That's an awesome background, Enamator. Kind of a purplish mist kind of thing. I decided to name it "Horizon". I was too lazy to add color. I kind of like it just black and white anyway.
007 Nab
Enormator, I think the scan lines are a bit strong, but other than that I like it as a game background. Gutspill, good use of plugins I like how they come together in your pic. Here's something I came up with trying to get metal FINAL (I think) Click for larger view 3 Step Phase (First, second, third draft) Stare at any one of the versions for at least 30 seconds! Tell me how many faces you find PLUGINS / EFFECTS used: Clouds (duh ), Sharpen +, Dents, Gaussian Blur, Zoom Blur Deluxe, and a whole bunch of layer blend modes. worldnewser
@007--Nice use of effects ...saw about 3-4 (some screaming) faces in those others :o @skitzo--Subtle use of polar inversion. Nice to see that you didn't over-abuse it ____ Gold Rings (a clever/not so obvious use of Polar Inversion ) Quote  deviantART Space and the Relative---Space Art Basics Tut (BETA)
007 Nab
Thanks worldnewser, and, if you hadn't told me it was pi, I would have guessed some kind of ripple instead. I like the effect though- cool pic Quote "pyrochild, you're my favorite person ever. We should go snowboarding some time."~ 007 Nab. Ish. PDN Gallery | I Made a Deviant Art! Lol It's right there. Right? Gold rings, look back to his original post. worldnewser:nice gold effect! I've tried to get a gold effect for a while but have totally failed, I don't think it needs anything else. BTW I don't see any polar inversion, I only see a twist. :?: My first try at a abstract: The polar inversion is very visible but I think it looks cool.
