Ego Eram Reputo Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 It'll be released when it's ready. http://blog.getpaint.net/2008/07/01/the ... creenshot/ I estimate that Paint.NET v4 will be 200,000 lines-of-code when it is done, which places me at about 6% complete. ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker

Rick Brewster Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Will Paint.NET v4.0 be released within the next 6 months? No. It hasn't even been started. The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
jerry533482 Posted December 5, 2009 Author Posted December 5, 2009 Will Paint.NET v4.0 be released within the next 6 months? No. It hasn't even been started. I thought you said you had 6% of the code done over a year ago. Wilson Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 He probably had to scrap it all what with all the new ways of coding and a lot of feature requests.
Sozo Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Actually, I think Rick included a lot of what he was working on in 3.5.
Wilson Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Yeah, that would probably make a lot of sense, Sozo.
Rick Brewster Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 There's really no sense asking when Paint.NET v.Whatever is going to be out. You'll know it's coming when there's an alpha or beta. Goonfella Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Patience is a virtue - as I`m sure Rick will agree. Please feel free to visit my Gallery on PDNFans And my Alternatives to PDN
jerry533482 Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 How long will the PDN 3.xx succession last? Space...The Final Frontier. -James Tiberius Kirk; circa 2260s My gallery: Jerry's Paint.NET creations My tuts: sun galaxy rings My youtube: http://www.youtube.com/jerry533482 YLOD VICTIM
oma Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 give him a break. Are you in a real all fired rush! I'm absolutley sure you've not even begun to explore what's avail in this version. If you've learned it all already lets see some fantastic images in your gallery. My Deviant Art Gallery Oma's Paint.Net gallery
pyrochild Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 How long will the PDN 3.xx succession last? Why do you need to know? What, exactly, is unsatisfactory about 3.5.1 that 4.0 will magically fix? Between Paint.NET and the GIMP (which are both provided to you for free), I'm sure your image editing needs are quite well satisfied. ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it!
jerry533482 Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 I'm quite grateful for PDN. I'm just anxious to see brushes being implemented to the core program. Imagine what PDN could do with brushes. pyrochild Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I don't need to imagine: Simon Brown kindly did the imagining for me by writing an excellent plugin. ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it!
jerry533482 Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 True, it's an awesome plugin, but a brush built in would provide more stability and flexibility. pyrochild Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I'm sure Simon or other plugin devs here would be more than willing to add features or write a new plugin if you have any good suggestions. ambigram signature by Kemaru [i write plugins and stuff] If you like a post, upvote it!
BoltBait Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 a brush built in would provide more stability and flexibility. How do you know? Anyway, if you're having stability issues with the brush plugin, just let Simon know and I'm sure he'll fix it. Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
jerry533482 Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 Well, what I'm saying here is I wish there was a brush tool/plugin that would allow you to paint without having to switch windows. That would make everything faster, don't you think? oma Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 ummm I don't seem to have any problem painting elaborate pictures, jerry and I probablly hardly ever use brushes. learn to use what is here already I think you will be more than surprised. Besides (nothing against brushes plugin) there is more to art than just swipping brushes across a page. Art isn't a race against time, it should be a quest for improvement of style and technique. That search for betterment absolutly isn't done in a 10 min. picture. Put some effort into improving your gfx skills and less effort into racking up great post counts. ciao OMA My Deviant Art Gallery Oma's Paint.Net gallery
Briamoth Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Just wondering whenever the next update comes out, will xp still be supported?
Gigabyte Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Good question. Also, will it include Brushes? Post above may contain sarcasm or humor.. or bad english! My Splatter sig tutorial!
Rick Brewster Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 4.0 will run on nothing less than Windows 8 with 2gb RAM and psychic powers. In all seriousness, I would not count on XP support for 4.0. In reality, I have not yet decided. The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
BoltBait Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Will 4.0 include rainbows and ponies? Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
Simon Brown Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Well, what I'm saying here is I wish there was a brush tool/plugin that would allow you to paint without having to switch windows. That would make everything faster, don't you think? ArtWeaver has custom brushes and is more user friendly than GIMP.
