At a guess, this is a problem with your server:

"it is a server-side error and the easier and safer fix for the error would be contacting your hosting provider. .."

Also, try clearing your cookies and cache.

I had the same problem a few moments ago, but after few refreshes got to the download page. When I try to install, it throws this error (attached below), which may be associated to this issue

Translation: Remote server returned an error: (406) Unacceptable.

Just tried to update and am getting the same error message.  Downloaded the anycpu.web installer package and it fails, also.

Yes, I know, there is no newer release available, but for your information, I've got an error message while updating:

As a workaround you can download the offline installer from GitHub: https://github.com/paintdotnet/release/releases/latest

Okay both seem to be working as of right now.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how you manage to download paint.net from dotPDN. When I click on dotPDN and on the next screen on paint.net it just takes me back to the main page

See my comment here https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/123360-paintnet-download/#comment-613202 which shows you how to do it.

@Rick Brewster  Quite a few people do not realise that the big rectangular images in the Download column are actually buttons that they need to click. They go for the links in the Mirror Host column. When I first started with Paint.NET, I tripped over this myself, just as @schwaki has and the OP did in the linked post.

Is there some way you could make those images actually look like buttons, or maybe just get rid of the Mirror Host links, so that people don't make this mistake and get stuck in an endless loop when they click dotPDN?

thx, Tactilis👍  ashes on my head. I always clicked on the host.

Yes, you did.

And so did I in the past. And so have other people.

There is a trivial change that would reduce the tendency of people to click on a Mirror Host link instead of a Download button.

Just update from this:

To this:

PDN-revised-download.png

I simply added the word 'download' before the word 'buttons' and have swapped the order of the columns.

The reader's gaze now settles on the button images at the end of the row. They are now the obvious place to click. The updated text reinforces this.

Any thoughts on this @Rick Brewster ?
