  3. kasperow , One thing you can try is to fill in selected sections of the suit with a solid color, apply a vertical or horizontal fade with Conditional Hue and Saturation, then make it black-and-white. (In the top menu: Adjustments > Black and White) As described in this post: Fade =================================================== Conditional Hue and Saturation is part of the Evan's Effects plugin set. Evan's Effects =========================================== If you do an Advanced Search of the Tutorial section, using metal or chrome, etc. as a search term, you'll get some helpful information. 4. There are ways of saving out a jpg, png, etc. that don't require undoing the flattening, but they don't actually reduce the number of keystrokes/mouse-clicks involved. So, not really what you want.
  5. Does the same thing for me. So, the work-around is to put the star on its own layer, then invert selection, Delete? Definitely bug-like behaviour.
  6. bigstarr62, Paint.NET doesn't have an Opaque Paste function. (It doesn't need it) This link will help you learn about using layers. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/WorkingWithLayers.html ================================================================== With the particular image you have posted, copy and paste your selection into a new layer as described by csm725. Press the F4 key at the top of your keyboard. The Layers Properties window will appear. Change the Blending Mode to Multiply. This will make the white part of the selection become clear in appearance. =================================== The best way of doing this is to put the black boxes on their own transparent layer from the start of the project.

  8. horusra, To cut-out the logo use the Grim Color Reaper plugin. Grim Color Reaper Settings: Color Tolerance ------------------- 20.00 Consider transparent ...-----------0.00 What color?-------------------------White ======================================= If you can post the actual image of the tree it will help towards getting the best advice/suggestions.
  9. heronpt, It has been several hours since your post, so I don't know if you still have the file open and still are seeking a solution. If so, the following is worth trying. You have flattened the image using Control +Shift +F. Now do this: Ctrl A Ctrl C Ctrl D Ctrl + Alt V This will copy/paste the image into a new file. Maybe it will save sucessfully from the new file.
  10. To add on to EER's workaround, once you've made the template file, right-click it, then: Properties > Read Only > Apply > OK. That will prevent the file from being overwritten inadvertantly.
  11. donangel, I don't have any Crack, but I do have the latest download. Effects Lab works on my system. Maybe you should try running PdnRepair: Program Files/Paint.NET/PdnRepair.exe Then reboot your PC. It might help.
  12. deviantArt kapireg Many good images. Not all FamilyFriendly.
  13. After playing with Irfanview and doing some Googling, it seems that that's what Irfanview does. It is possible to change the background color that is added to something other than black, but i haven't found a way to make it simply leave the transparency in place.
  14. This thread may (or might not) be useful. Thread
  15. Irfanview displays against a black background, so, it will show through as black wherever there is transparency. If processed in Irfanview, then saved, does it open again in Paint.NET with black instead of transparency?
  16. Download Drop Shadow zip to Desktop or Download folder. Left-click to open zip. Click on - Install.exe. Remove checkmarks from any Effects that you don't want. Click - Install. ====================================================== Boltbait plugins: Download the zipped file to your Desktop or Downloads folder. Open the zip by left-clicking it. Copy/paste the plugin files to your Effects folder. ======================================================= Best to install plugins with Paint.NET closed.
  17. WIndjammer, Start with the original PNG image, use the Color Picker tool to set the Primary color to brown, apply the Grim Color Reaper plugin, set to Primary Color. (default) Grim Color Reaper
