  1. Hi auto - welcome to the forum! There are several plugins for RAW files. They are listed in order of release in this post. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/22839-raw-files/?hl=rawload#entry361104 You should also have a look at this post http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/22377-how-to-import-nikon-nef-files/?hl=rawload#entry357530 (Search is a great tool you know )
  2. Glad you have found my book beneficial skullbonz It's especially nice to hear that people are enjoying it. Your endorsement is all the reward I need!
  3. Try it again. Follow Pyrochild's sugggestion first. THEN go to the thread nanettealsop directed you to and follow the directions in items 5) & 6). Once you have tried EVERYTHING mentioned report back here. edit: blindly fiddling with the registry is a silly thing to do. Unless you know what you're doing, leave it alone.
  4. This. Item number 10 is ths one you want in that thread. That usually fixes the 1603 error.
  5. Glad I could help you out kshaw86. Welcome to the forum!
  6. @Welshy and Sasha: Gobsmacked at those images. Wow.
  7. You're wasting your time downloading Paint.NET from anywhere but the Paint.NET website. That's why you get malware and viruses installed instead of Paint.NET. Go here: http://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html and click the link in the top right hand corner.
  8. Google ".NET re-installation or repair" and find a solution from Microsoft - yes?
  9. <Moved to Paint.NET Discussion & Questions> Ni nariska. There is no Spanish version of this forum. You may get lucky and find a Spanish support group for Paint.NET via Google.
  10. Import the second image using Layers > import from file. The canvas size will be enlarged if the imported image is larger than the original.
  11. Try the Recoloring Tool 1. To use the Recolor tool, set the Primary color to the new color. In other words set your required shade of blue by entering the RGB or Hex codes in the extended Colors Window. 2. Set the Secondary color to the color that will be replaced in the image (i.e. use the color Picker + right mouse button to select the shade you want replaced). 3. Adjust the brush width (make it fairly large to cover the existing image in a few strokes) and tolerance as required. This may take some trial and error. 4. "paint" over the existing image in broad strokes.
  12. Yes just follow the instructions given in the first post of this thread. Vista and Win7 are virtually the same in this regard.
  13. No you cannot install fonts into Paint.NET. Instead you should install them into your system where Paint.NET will find them http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12197-using-new-fonts-for-paintnet/
  14. What a great document! You should be very pleased with it. I know I would be if someone gave me a copy. Some notes... 1. Paint.NET is free, however donations are welcomed. Perhaps a hint about donating to fund further Paint.NET/plugin development? 2. You might wish to point out that your screenshots show Curves+ - a plugin by our very own Pyrochild and not the original Curves dialog. 3. Provide a link to the Plugin section of the forum for those users who want more. Feel free to link to the Plugin Index as well (forum and/or pdf download). 4. PNG is a lossless format - it should be preferred to the JPG format which always causes data loss - even at 100%. JPG should be recommended ONLY where file size is critical (i.e. web or email). 5. Re: TIFF - The major drawback for TIFF is that there is a serious lack of support from modern browsers. The format is therefore a poor choice for web graphics. Unless you have a critical reason for using TIFF, PNG is always preferred. 6. Rotate using Rotate Zoom or Ctrl + A then Move Tool (shortcut M) + right mouse button.
  15. 1. Select the areas directly. You can chain multiple selections together with the Add mode (hold down the Ctrl key when making more selections). 2. Press Delete to erase them. 3. Then save the image as a PNG. 4. Import your new PNG to your book cover. When you flatten and save as a jpg the areas will behave as you wish (allowing the background to show through).
  16. Yup. File > Save As... specify a new filename and/or location (retain the *.pdn filetype) and you'll have the copy you want.
  17. JPG's DO NOT support transparency. Check you've got the correct file extension and not something like MyFile.jpg.png If you erase and save as a png the transparent areas will be preserved. If you have saved it as a jpg - it cannot have transparent areas. TIP: you can toggle to Global mode by holding down the Shift key
  18. Check you don't have two installations. There should be ONE folder named Paint.NET under C:\Program Files. Next, check that you have NOT accidentally copied the Paint.NET dll files into the Effects folder. They are all named PaintDotNet.*.dll If you find any of these in the Effects folder move them back to the Paint.NET folder. If they are duplicates, just delete them.
  19. January Update - Happy New Year! Four new plugins this month, including two new filetype plugins. Paper Kaleidocycles - @Martin Osieka This plugin allows the creation of nets for kaleidocycles. A kaleidocycle is a ring of pyramids which can be twisted inwards and outwards to show different sides of the pyramids. Photoshop Brush - @null54 Filetype. Load and save brushes used by Adobe® Photoshop®. Brushes sampled from image data are supported, dynamically computed brushes are ignored. Photoshop Pattern - @null54 Filetype. Load Pattern files used by Photoshop's Fill command. Only Grayscale, Indexed and RGB mode patterns (8-bit and 16-bit) are supported. Photoshop Swatch Converter - @null54 This external program (not a plugin) converts Photoshop color swatches (ACO files) to Paint.NET. Swatches with more than 96 colors are split into multiple parts. RGB, HSB, CMYK and Grayscale color modes are supported.
  20. re: /y great suggestion. Thank you. re: 11. I wrote that step because I was asked to close and reopen when changing the target framework. VS 2010 Express demanded it. I think we can further tweak the template. I would have added more commented-out menus - but intellisense helps you out so well. I'm sure there are lots of comments we could include to help steer new users in the right direction.
  21. Most of the credit goes to Sepcot and BoltBait Most common cause of the latter issue is targetting .NET 4. I've not come across the icon causing the plugin to go missing from pdn. 1a. You're probably correct. Did you have trouble with VS not copying the finished dll?
  22. Ah. Now I understand! Great use of animation to explain what the plugin does.
