    ::PluginIndex::Effect::Print It::0.9::2014-09-03::Martin Osieka::Print the current layer or the flattened image:: The 'Print It' plugin prints the current layer. To print the whole image you have to flatten the image first to one layer. Beside of the basic printer settings you may select - The area to layout your image (Whole paper, printable area, Paper with margins) - The size of the image ('Print Size', Scaled 'Print Size', Fit to area, Fit large only to area, Stretch to area, Stretch large only to area). - The sized image can the be aligned inside of the area to the corners, sides or the center. An additional offset is possible. - Tiling allows to place an image multiple times on the same page. - Poster printing allows to stretch one image to multiple pages - Header and footer lines are available - A watermark can be overlayed to the printout The non-printable area of the image is colored red in the preview. The margin or gaps area is colored green. Download Find the latest version Print It v0.9 (3.9.2014) here Installation - Copy the two files OptionBasedLibrary vX.X.dll/.dlc to the Paint.NET\ folder (NOT to Paint.NET\Effects\ !!!) - Copy the two files PrintIt.Effect.dll/.dlc to the Paint.NET\Effects\ folder - Do not remove older versions of the OptionBasedLibrary if they are required from other plugins. After a restart of Paint.NET you will find the plugin at Menu->Effects->Tools->Print It (oder für deutschsprachige Anwender unter Menu->Effekte->Werkzeuge->Druck es ;-) Compatibility Paint.NET 3.5.11 and 4.0.3 (Tested on Windows XP and Windows 7) Supported languages English, Deutsch Keywords Print, Header and Footer, Watermark, Tiles, Multipage, Poster, Drucken, Kopf- und Fußzeilen, Wasserzeichen, Kacheln, Mehrseitig, Plakat Configuration options Select the printer and the basic paper settings. The printer properties button allows you to set more specific details (like Duplex). If you switch the printer then it may happen that one or more of the other settings are no longer selected (i.e. because the printer does not support the previously selected paper format). Just choose one of the available settings. The printout name is used in progress dialog, as proposed filename for file printers, and as {Print.Name} keyword in text output. The 'paper area' choice defines which area of the paper is used to print the image. 'Image size' defines the size of the image in the area and 'image location' the alignment in the area. In the preview the non-printable area of the paper is marked in red, user defines margins in green. You may print an image multiple times in the area depending on the 'number of tiles' choice. The distance between the tiles areas can be set via the spacing options. In the preview the spacing is colored in red. You may add a header and/or a footer text line to your printout. Each line has three areas: Left aligned, centered, and right aligned text. The texts may contain keywords which will be replaced at printout time (see Keywords). Font name, size, and style can be selected. Header and footer will be placed at the top or respectively at the bottom of the page area. The page area will then be shrinked by the height value. If the font is larger than the height then the line will overlap the page area. In the preview header and footer are colored in blue. A watermark can be printed as overlay to the paper area (or the tiles area). You may select the text of the watermark, font, style, and color. The height of the text is always 10% of the area height in the moment. Afrer the look of the watermark is defined the watermark can be placed, aligned, and rotated in the area. Keywords used in text output In the moment the following keywords are defined: {Print.Name} The Name of the printout from the Printer tab. {Print.Page} The current page number {Print.Pages} The number of pages Remark This version is not final but it should be good enough to discuss what you expect from a printing tool. I'm not telling what's on the list in the moment. Tell us what you like to get. Issues depending on the Paint.NET plugin API - The Paint.NET API does not provide the title (or filename of the image). The plugin uses the Title 'Document' to show progress or as argument for an PDF printer. History 0.9 (3.9.2014) - The preview controls moved to a collapsable control outside of the tabs. - The preview control allows to activate a 1:1 mode. In this mode a zoom value of 100% means that that the size of the document on screen is exactly the size of the sheet. For this mode you have to enter the calibrated DPI value of your screen. . Printer tab: The entries in the printer names combobox are sorted now - Printer tab: Sheet and poster size infos respect the preview unit setting - Printer tab: Virtual sheet tells the amount of real sheets - Printer tab: Added 'Collate' switch if number of copies is greater than one (Be warned not all printer drivers are able to handle this) - Printer tab: Some printers do not support 'Copies'. In this case the Number of copies entry will be disabled. - Printer tab: Added printer status and type information. Status message changes may be slow on some devices. It depends in most cases on the printer driver. - Printer tab: Added print source: In the moment just the active layer. 'Print It - collection' will allow you to create a collection of images in the future. . Printer tab: Added feature to restrict the print source to the selected area - Printer tab: Added range of sheets: All sheets, Selected range of sheets - Printer tab: Added a test print button. Test page can be used to check the printable area of the sheet and to correct the offset later. - If the printer test page shows that the center is not in the center of the sheet then the offset of the printable area may be wrong. To nodify the offset you can edit the .ppd file of the printer or just add the variables PAH=x and/or PAV=y to the printer comment (x and y are values in cm). - Layout tab: Info texts for area size, original image size and new image size are implemented. - Layout tab: The new image size shows you the real print dpi value which helps to decide if the original image provides enough pixels. - Layout tab: Scaling control of "Image Size = Scale Print Size of Image" shows now a 'keep in sync' button to keep the aspect ratio of the image intact. - Layout tab: The margins control should be more user friendly now - The text of the OK button has been changed to 'Print' 0.8 (12.8.2014) - Poster printing allows to stretch one image to multiple pages - F1 key links to the forum page of 'Print It' - Shows in the title line the active element to print 0.7 (12.07.2014) see download link above - Replaced the preview control with a more generic version - Added OptionControls and contextmenu to handle zoom, location, and alignment of the document in the preview.   4. Quadrilateral Correction Effects -> Tools -> Quadrilateral Correction Description This effect is useful for correcting images that have been skewed on multiple axes. It uses an algorithm from AForge.NET. It works very well, but don't expect miracles if your image is extremely skewed.   5. BlendModes Plus Have you ever wished that Paint.NET had more blend modes like some of those "other, more expensive" image editors? Well now your wish just came true! And now just for the low price of $500 FREE! This plugin can be found in Effects --> Tools --> BlendModes Plus. Basically, all you have to do is open the plugin, load an image, and choose your blend mode. Right now the current blend modes available are: Normal Additive Average Blue Color Color Burn Color Dodge Cyan Darken Difference Divide Exclusion Glow Grain Extract Grain Merge Green Hard Light Hard Mix Hue Lighten Linear Burn Linear Dodge Linear Light Luminosity Magenta Multiply Negation Overlay Phoenix Pin Light Red Reflect Saturation Screen Signed Difference Soft Light Stamp Vivid Light Yellow And even though this list is kinda long, I plan to add more blend modes before long. Blend Mode Descriptions: Here is just a quick rundown of what all the blend modes do. Hidden Content: Here are the to images I'm going to use. Normal I don't think this mode needs much of description. The final image is the blend image. Average This mode is good for blending two images together. Nothing special. Blue This mode replaces the blue channel of the base image with the blue channel of the blend image. Color This mode replaces the hue and saturation of the base image with the hue and saturation of the blend image. Cyan This mode replaces the cyan channel of the base image with the cyan channel of th blend image. Divide Grain Extract Grain Merge Green This mode replaces the green channel of the base image with the green channel of the blend image. Hard Light Hard Mix This mode causes the resulting image to either be black, white, red, yellow, green, cyan, blue, or magenta. Hue This mode replaces the hue of the base image with the hue of the blend image. Linear Burn This mode will always make you image darker. Linear Dodge This mode will always make you image lighter. Linear Light This mode is similar to Linear Burn except the blend image is more noticeable. Luminosity This mode replaces the luminosity of the base image with the luminosity of the blend image. Magenta This mode replaces the magenta channel of the base image with the magenta channel of the blend image. Pin Light This mode causes light parts of the blend image and dark parts of the base image to show through. Red This mode replaces the red channel of the base image with the red channel of the blend image. Saturation This mode replaces the saturation of the base image with the saturation of the blend image. Signed Difference Stamp This mode is good for applying textures to images. Yellow This mode replaces the yellow channel of the base image with the yellow channel of the blend image.   7. Generate 96 unique colors for palettes What's this? Some other effects could use palettes of colors to fill the canvas. This is why I need to create palettes in many ways to use with these colorful plugins. This effect is able to fill the canvas with 96 different colors (16 columns x 6 rows) and save as a palette file. Download it! Be sure to use a new layer or a new image. Then run the effect and choose the colors from start to end and the generator mode. If you check the box “save in user’s folder of palettes”, you will find “Gen96_aaaaa_bb.txt files. aaaaa is the reseed number used and bb is the step value. Existing files are overwritten. NB: If you use linear or HSV generator mode, you have to change the reseed value to save each palette with a different name. The User interface This plugin is added to the menu Effects, submenu Tools. Reseed When zero the effect is in random mode. Every time a control is changed a new image is calculated (also when you finally press the Ok button). Other values than zero are used to initialize the random sequence. Same value should give the same result now and later, ever… Of course, this control is not used when the generator mode is linear or HSV. NB: This value is used to name the file of palette. Starting/Ending colors Select the colors from start to end as limits of your palette. Transparency mode (None/Random/Linear) Mode None, all colors are opaque. Select random if you want transparency in the palette. Linear gives a progressive/degressive transparency. Starting/Ending Alpha Set the transparency limits. Generator mode (Random/Linear/HSV) Select the mode of color calculation. -Random -Linear (from starting to ending colors, on the RGB channels). -HSV: from starting to ending colors, using Hue/Saturation/Value conversion. Save in user’s folder of palettes When checked each rendering create (overwrite) a palette file in the standard folder. It could be a lot of files if you let the reseed slider going up 1 by 1 increment… Step size Fill the palette with a step between each color. Instead of a regular “gradient” you will have some kind of checker… The Examples: Voilà! Enjoy! Let me see what you could do with it!
  8. Overview This plugin lets you use dynamic brushes with custom shapes. It's good for drawing effects, textures, and redundant objects like grass. It can be used like a spray can or be used to draw symmetrically. Adapted from TechnoRobbo's Dodgeburn plugin, Pyrochild's context menu, and improved by Null54. Interface The plugin is full-screen when run and looks like this: There are four tabs. The default one is on the left and you can click the names of the other tabs to switch to them. Each tab has its own settings. The first tab shows static brush settings (non-dynamic behavior). The second shows dynamic behavior settings. The third shows dynamic options related to color. The last includes options like rotating the brush with the mouse, enabling symmetry, setting the smoothing mode, or setting custom brush locations so you don't have to import all your brushes every time. For a comprehensive overview of how Brush Factory works, see Github. Installing After downloading the zipped .dll file, you will have to extract the file somewhere, then move it to the Effects folder of your Paint.Net installation, which for me is at C:/Program Files/paint.net. Put it in the Effects folder, then restart Paint.Net. You will see it under the Tools submenu of your Effects menu: Adding Brushes If you want to have extra brushes available, consider making a dedicated folder for it, then adding that folder to the custom brush locations in the 'other' tab of brush factory.   9. This plugin allows Paint.NET to simulate how the current layer will look when printed with the specified color profile. For best results you should use a calibrated monitor with the OS set to use the appropriate color profile. The layer can then be exported as a JPEG or TIFF with the target color profile embedded. If the softproof target is set to None the image will be exported with the input color profile. While you should be able to preview any color profile, only RGB, CMYK and gray scale profiles can be exported. This plugin is compatible with Paint.NET 3.5.11 and 4.0.x. The profile conversion is performed using the LittleCMS library. To install place all 3 dlls in the Effects folder. Menu location: Effects->Tools->Soft Proofing.   10. This plugin allows Paint.NET to use 32-bit TWAIN drivers on a 64-bit OS. To install place both files in the Effects folder of Paint.NET. Usage: Menu location: Effects->Tools->Twainable+. The UI consists of a combo box and two buttons. The combo box allows you to select the TWAIN source to use, this is only enabled if there are multiple TWAIN sources. The Acquire to Clipboard button displays the scanner interface, and places the image on the clipboard. The Close button closes the plugin window. Due to the fact that this plugin places the scanned image on the clipboard, it can only acquire a single scan each time it is run. File version 1.0.0.2. Depending on this type the color area below will show some markers. The largest marker marks the base color. All other markers are derived from the base color marker. Below the color area there are the colors and hexadecimal rgb values of all the colors in the set. The leftmost color is the base color. This is the single entry you may edit. If 'Single Color' is choosen then a color picker symbol is right to the color box. Next are the boxes of the three possible color models (RGB, HSV, and HSL). Each box shows the values of the three channels building the color model. Selecting one of the channels by clicking the radi button changes the color area and the slider right to the color area. The slider allows to change the value of the selected channel. Right click to the color area shows a context menu. - Square or Wheel (or Square): Select which variant you like to use for the color area. - Full adaptive: If checked then the color area will be adjusted depending on the slider value. - Dark theme: Sets a dark dialog background On OK the base color will be copied to the clipboard and the set of colors will be stored as a palette file in your palette folder. The 'Colors' window of Paint.NET allows you to load the palette file. Remark: The selected base color will not be your primary color automatically. If you like to use it then you have to paste the value in the box below of the RGB values in the expanded 'Colors' window. If you are used to the Windows build-in color selector then you may select the L channel of the HSL model. Then select 'Square' in the context menu of the color area. You will get the following view: Color models Issues depending on the Paint.NET plugin API - It is not possible to request the localized name of the palette folder via the API. Because of this the subfolder name is stored in the .dlc file of the effect. If you are using a different language setting than English or Deutsch then the complete .dlc file must be translated to your language and environment . History 0.7 (25.7.2014) see download link above - rotated the color wheels so that the warm colors (red..yellow) are on top and the cold colors (cyan..blue) are on bottom - if the palette subfolder does not exist then the palette will be stored in the localized Paint.NET user folder - if 'Single color' is selected on OK then no palette file will be created. - Added 'Screen Color Picker' to 'Single Color' mode. Clicking the button activates the color picker. The picking interval is 200ms. Mouse click or any keypress stops picking the color (Escape restores the previous color). Remark: Outside of the application the cursor does not show the picker symbol but is still working. No idea in the moment how to fix this. 0.6 (20.07.2014) - First public release

Check out this tutorial by Marken. Even if you don't find it cute, the tutorial is still a good introduction to smudging. Put the file in Documents\paint.net User Files\Smudge Brushes Smudge only cares about the alpha channel (transparency) of the brushes; color data is ignored.   14. I finally packed my image filtering library into a Paint.NET Plugin which can be downloaded here : 2dImageFilter. (download the file directly using the link at the foot of this post ~ EER) EER: Find these filters in Effects > Tools > 2D Image Filter This library contains all of the standard algorithms used in various emulators (like VirtualGB, Mame, DOSBox, SNES9x, ZSNES to name some of them). I adapted them to be used not only on pixel graphics by giving them the ability to identify pixels that are alike and not exactly the same color. They will interpolate on matches to give slightly better results than their original. Even though some scaler's seem to result in the same image, they're all slightly different and the best fit heavily depends on the source material. All Algorithms have been rewritten from scratch by looking at the original code, understanding and then adapting so these should be clean (schoolar) version of the algo's. Thank's to all the people that made up their minds and invented these scalers. Without them I couldn't have coded this. I recommend using "Render to Clipboard" and paste the result into a new image because the plugin can not resize the canvas itself. The development thread can be found here.
