  1. To me the 1-0 scoring system is too brutal. Very harsh on the entrant who gets whipped 3-0 - their entry has merit too! How about scoring each entry with 1-5 stars? The winner is the first to reach 20 stars :star:
  2. Hello and welcome! Try this Multi-Threshold or the one in this plugin pack Ed Harvey - Threshold If it is neither, try the Plugin Index
  3. This section of the forum: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/forum/3-troubleshooting-bug-reports/ Top pinned thread and the first one that isn't pinned.
  4. Welcome mcarroll! There is a battle already in place. A battle is over when one of the combatants has three votes.
  5. I'm wondering if this will do the job: PaletteConverter BETA
  6. The image you're copying is the source. If it has multiple layers, you can only copy from one of them. This would be the source layer and must have the active layer highlight in the Layers Window (i.e. blue highlight). The source is the image or element that you wish to move somewhere else. The place where you want the image or element is the destination. Could be an image or a individual layer within the image. You won't have any luck copying from an empty layer as there are no colored pixels to copy.
  7. No to both (layers and colors). If you're using the same sized font , weight and color the second set should completely match the first set by way of size. Now if you wrote one set with anti-aliasing enabled (soft edges) and the second set with the anti-aliasing disabled (jagged edges) there would be a size difference (anti-aliasing the edges makes the characters appear a bit smaller). You would have to use exactly the same font, font-size, weight (bold vs. normal) and anti-aliasing to get them to match perfectly.
  8. You're in the wrong forum. This is forum is for the image editor Paint.NET.
  9. That's the usual fix for images that must be saved as JPGs - a completely filled 'Background' layer at the bottom of the stack of layers. The layer does not have to be white or even a single color unless the other layers dictate this by their contents.
  10. Keep tracing the outline DrewDale. The straight line closes the loop, so if you keep outlining the straight line will eventually be quite short. This discussion is leaving the original topic of the Freeform SHAPE Tool , now we're discussing the Lasso tool - which is different
  11. Within Paint.NET, transparency will be preserved across a copying operation. If it is showing up as white then your source is white and not transparent. Check you're copying from the correct layer. If you have a look at the layer thumbnail in the Layers Window it should be possible to see if the layer is transparent or not. When you're copying, the source is always the highlighted layer (blue highlight in the Layers Window). If you're copying from another image, be aware that JPG's do not support transparency and convert any transparent pixels to a solid color (usually white). If saving the image as a JPG the same will occur.
  12. To keep the best detail, try resizing the larger image down by a factor of 2 prior to importing it. I.e. halve the size (50% original size) or even quarter it (25% original). Resizing this way uses a nice round number of original pixels to determine the output pixel. BTW: If you're going to shrink an image by such a large factor - expect to lose detail. It's a fact of life.
  13. No, you can download a Kindle Reader from Amazon and read it on just about anything with processing power (phone, tablet, eReader, PC, etc....,). There's probably even a Kindle app for your smart TV!
  14. I've previously explained this in detail for you here: http://forums.getpai...py/#entry378859
  15. If you have BoltBait's Outline Selection installed, you can try this: 1. New canvas - any reasonable size (the default will work nicely). 2. Effects > Render > Clouds @ defaults. 3. Activate the Magic Wand tool . In the Tool Bar, lower the Tolerance to around 25%. 4. Choose an nice juicy dark spot in the clouds and click on it. That will make a small selection. 5. To enlarge the selection, hold down the Ctrl key and click just outside the original selection. Repeat until you get a shape you like. Tip: you can also use the bright spots to create a shape. 6. Add new layer :AddNewLayer: 7. Effects > Selection > Outline Selection @ Outline Width of around 8 to 10 in whatever color you want. 8. Click to activate the Cloud layer again and repeat steps 4 & 5. 9. Click to activate the Selection Outline layer and press Ctrl + F (repeats last Effect - i.e. Outline Selection). 10. Repeat steps 8 & 9 as many times as you need. 11. Turn off the cloud layer by deselecting the visibility checkbox in the Layers Window. 12. Round off the selection outlines if they are a bit harsh. Effects > Noise > Median @ Radius 4, Percentile 50 will do the trick. Here's an idea of what you can get in a few minutes. If you take more time to get the selections closer you'll end up with a neater pattern.
  16. This template is very advanced. If you wish to learn how to program your own effects I recommend CodeLab Forum Admin @BoltBait maintains CodeLab and has extensive guides on his website www.BoltBait.com
  17. No, DPI will not help the resizing. DPI is really only related to print quality and the size of the printed image. 96 PPI (Pixels per Inch) is the resolution of the majority if screens out there, so yes 96 PPI is a good size if the image is going to be viewed on a monitor. You need a lot more information in an image to make it print nicely. A good approximation is three times as many pixels (because 300DPI is roughly 3x 96PPI). There is no 'safe' resize percentage when enlarging. When reducing, 2x, 4x, 8x..., are considered the most appropriate. In between, Paint.NET defaults to the Best Quality setting to give you the nicest possible result. Of course the actual result will depend on your image.
  18. Scriptlab allows you to chain multiple effects together, each having it's own preset parameters. To be honest, I've not used it for a while - I'm assuming it's still working.
  19. You can't embed HTML in an image. What the other software packages are doing is something else entirely. Personally I use PSPad, though Notepad+ has many fans. Forum Admin BoltBait has one for free download on his website: http://www.boltbait.com/htmleditor/
