  1. One stock: Robot Decided to go for a different technology theme, and chose robots.
  2. I agree with this. I don't think that Max Power only won because he had some sort of a headstart. He's been winning because he hasn't had a lot of tough competitors to compete against, and he's always produced an excellent entry. What needs to be done, is more people entering LAOTW competitions.
  3. That nebulae is amazing! Looking forward to see the piece complete. If other people request a tut too, then yes please! Even if others don't, can you post a mini tut in your gallery, like oma does?
  4. Yay! Smudge with transparency. Have you already released a transparency smudge, or is it still due on the 30th? Anyways, i can't wait!
  5. You can draw cartoon styles excellently then! Your line tool use is also very good. Try drawing the chefs (or something entirely different) with just the line tool.
  6. They are my favourites. Excellent drawing skills and, great shading too! The cartoon/vector style is great. Keep it up! I'll look forward to seeing more of your work. PS: Do you use a table to draw, or is it just line tool/brush tool?
  7. Take a look at this tut on VectorTuts: [link] Its a tut for illustrator, but can be done in PDN. The basis is line tool, select, then apply gradient.
  8. ... Then (if needed to angle) either use Layer > Rotate/Zoom or Oct/Quad Reshape/Matte to angle and position it.
  9. Just edit the first post in this thread DRILL. Change the text in the "Subject:" option.
  10. janettsue, the pool-spider manip is really creepy! However, to put it plainly, the spiders look flat. Their lighting doesn't match the lighting of the image. Add lighting to each spider to make it more real, and only put spiders where they'll look good, such as on walls. The one on the pool side looks like its been stepped on.
  11. The link you gave now says that Paint.NET is No. 4. Just. :D
  12. This was just messing around with splinter.
  13. The following idea may be a really good idea, or it may be a really bad idea, but i'll run it by you guys to get some opinions. Basically, my idea is for effects to be shown in multiple columns when you have many effects. To see what i mean, take a look at the image below. The left part (shown in blue) is what happens to the "All Programs" bit of the start menu, when you have quite a number of application/programs. The right part (in red) shows PDN in the distorts menu, with scrolling arrows (thats what i call them). I think it would be much easier and more productive to use PDN if the effects were shown as in the windows style (left part), as you don't need to scroll to find the effect.
  14. Oh, i guess i'm kind of wrong then.. Well, at least i can "hopefully" look forward to an anti-aliased selection ability for Paint.NET.
  15. I think he means that when making a selection, for example a circular selection, then the selection should be :AntiAliasingOn: not :AntiAliasingOff: . BmB23, this isn't possible because Paint.NET is a bitmap editor, not a vector one, and that means that every image is made up of a number of pixels. Pixels are square, so if you think about making a circular selection in squares, it isn't really possible. A workaround is to use Feather, Basic Anti-alias, or Anti-alias plugin (they can be found with search easily) to make something :AntiAliasingOn: . Hope that helped too.
  16. Just tested this plugin, and it doesn't seem to render properly. Horizontal lines are being rendered. Is it supposed to do that?
  17. That skull is amazing!! Its quite scary too. I'm not a fan of skulls, but i love the way you've used the bones in different shades to create the skull head. Great job! __________ Change my VS today, so made a wallpaper to fit it. Its..meh, but i really like my design of the MS logo on it. All done in PDN, and those aura things were brushes.
  18. I agree, when i first saw it, i was looking towards the left of the middle of the render to see the top. It took a few seconds to find the head. You've blended the head amazingly well, but a bit too much.
  19. Did you create the hand on that? If you did all i gotta say is WOW!
  20. Press F1 whilst in PDN, and take a look at this tut to give you the basic foundations in PDN: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=21605 Also, try doing some tutorials in the tutorial section (stickied ones are the "best") and the best thing to do in PDN to get better is to experiment with effects, tools, adjustments, etc.
  21. Set the brush to paintbrush and the strength to around 20-30%.
  22. Try using smudge in paintbrush mode to simulate the displace distort.
  23. oma, this is a fantastic tut - especially for beginners who feel they've grasped the basics of PDN and want to get onto making something realistic, its a great foundation for them. Well, i tried the tut to a certain extent. After gradient bars on the leaves i used crystalize and made it raised slightly to give that more realistic leafy texture. Then i just use S3D to make a flower. The stem isn't too good, but i didn't spend much time on it.
