  1. The values of a control persist because they are tokenized and stored by the plugin. This happens behind the scenes when using CodeLab. In VS you can take control of this process yourself. Indeed when using a Winform UI you have to code the variables yourself in order to persist the plugin settings. This is not difficult
  2. Great example Eli! @MJW: The problem is not the effect. Its that the default settings (vector locations) produce a blank canvas. For new users this is intimidating. While its fairly easy to work out the UI, the goal should be for it to be user friendly (intuitive) as possible. You already know this because you appreciate how the default control locations need to be improved. Porting the code to VS and resetting the locations will help a great deal. A custom UI and quad control would make it awesome. See how intuitive Quad Reshape is to use? Please don't take these suggestions as criticisms. Your effect is a really nice one and worthy of some effort. A fine addition to my paint.net toolbox. Please give all the above suggestions some thought. If you wish to develop a custom UI I'm more than willing to assist.
  3. v1.2 definitely didn't run with 3.5.11 - so I wouldn't get your hopes up. As for the external dll - why not just add it to the Zip file? I tried to download it and got as far as finding out it was a *.rar. Honestly, I couldn't be bothered....
  4. Works just as you described. Initial thoughts were that the X and Y scale was too severe, but I quickly found it quite usable. If you want to change the vector control, why not roll your own all-in-one control? Something like this would give you a great deal more accuracy AND be easier to visualize the transformation (see UI for Quadrilateral Reshape - which your effect is similar to). Quad Reshape doesn't use the numeric coordinates - but I think they're useful to have.
  5. These effects are in their own sub menu: Effects > PolyGlitch. Does that help?
  6. Very interesting! I'll d/l this and have a play. Thanks.
  7. As has been said, it's a renamed GIF. Facebook is willing to accept it at face value as a JPG when uploading, but correctly determines that it's a GIF for display purposes. Right click on image > Info Header check using a Hex editor (PSPad) shows it is definitely a GIF.
  8. I've changed the thread title for you Dyno. In answer to your question, try this set of plugins: PolyGlitch specifically Pixel Drag.
  9. ^^ this. Please This topic is probably better placed in the paint.net Discussion & Questions thread. I'll move it there.
  10. ^^ this. 1. Add a new layer :AddNewLayer: immediately above the one with the photo in it. Why? Because you're not going to change the photo, you're going to mask a bit of it with a region of color on another layer. 2. Select the new layer in the Layers window by clicking on it. It should receive the blue highlighting in the Layers Window which indicates it's the active layer. 3. In the Colors Window, change your Primary color to the shade you want to use as a fill. 4. Swap to the rectangle select tool and define the area you want to recolor by clicking and dragging. 5. Once the region is defined, use the PaintBucket Tool to fill the selected region OR just press the Backspace key.
  11. Thanks Pixey and Seerose. Seems to be a word or two missing from the description of TechnoRobbo's Color Waves. I'll sort this out this evening. Sorry TechnoRobbo!
  12. February Update Five new plugins to play with this month.... Dr Scott's Markup Renderer - @Ego Eram Reputo. Render markup including web pages, tables, text, XML and complex mathematical equations (MathML, TeX or LaTeX formats) straight to the paint.net canvas. Note: rendering of math equations requires an internet connection. Inner Shadow Selection - @BoltBait. Applies shadowing from the edge of a selection which fades towards the inside of the selection. Very similar to Object Inner Shadow, but this works with selections and not objects. BoltBait's Plugin Pack for v4.0 Object Inner Shadow - @BoltBait. Inner Shadow projects a shadow from the edge of an object inwards. The shadow fades as it extends inwards. The natural twin to Drop Shadow in many respects. Part of BoltBait's plugin pack (3.5.x and 4.x) TR's Brush Strokes - @TechnoRobbo. Redraws the contents of the layer/selection with simulated brush strokes. Options: Texture, Stroke Width, Stoke Direction, Bristles. TR's Color Wave - @TechnoRobbo. Finds the borders between (not shades) and allows the user to interpret the ripples as they fan out in waves from the epicenter.
  13. Xhin - You've had more than enough time to resize these images. Beautiful as they are, they are far too large. <locked>
  14. Yes there is a relatively easy way to do this... #1 You're going to need plenty of smallish images of torn paper. Collect* or make them** and stuff them in their own folder somewhere. #2 Download and install this plugin Mosaic Maniac #3 Um. No. Forget this step. #4 Run the plugin (Effect > Artistic > Collage Paint). #5 Navigate to your torn paper images and select the folder. #6 Hit Ok and wait. Here's Obama rendered from a folder full of icons I had lying around * Google "torn paper brushes" to find pre-made sets. ** How would I make a lot of small images of torn paper? I'd tear up a glossy magazine and arrange the pieces on my scanner's bed. Then scan them, remove the white background, select them individually and use TR's Export Selection plugin to save them.
  15. 1: Is the size of the video box being calculated (perhaps a percentage of screen width) rather than being a fixed size? That might account for the differences in size. 2: The rounded corners are not going to work. Your video will be rectangular with square corners.
  16. Brilliant plugin. Easy to use and so obvious when you think about it. Drop Shadow's twin
  17. Very nice tut! I really like the rainbow color bands - that's a nice touch. IMHO the track lines are too powerful. I'd dial them down a bit with a lower opacity setting or a tiny bit of blurring.
  18. The checkerboard pattern is a direct consequence of trying to move a section when you have your text AND background in the same layer. ALWAYS put your text on it's own transparent layer. That way you can move the text about without affecting the background in any way. See Pixey's great example in post #2.
