johnnysdream
I have noticed that in some folks galleries, they have thumbnails and when you click on them they take you instantly to a large picture of the image.Dyrdareelin and Trevors galleries are examples of what I mean.http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/25922-trevors-gallery-new-purple/Now I've tried all the options available for Pbucket and Imgur.I dont think PB has the option.I thought Imgur did but all the options did was leave a link here in my gallery linking back to their site but left me with no thumbnail. How are they doing this please?Thank you in advance.
david.atwell
Wrap an image in a URL. Place the thumbnail-sized image first, then select it and click the URL button to add a link. Here's an example - click "Quote" below this post and switch to the code view to see how it will look in the BBCode: Quote The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.Amy: But how did it end up in there? The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.
Pixey
I use Imgur now that Photobucket no longer allows them. Use the Imgur Uploader found here and then use the generated code (http etc .png) in your post on this forum by adding the .png code into this code {thumb}http .png - no spaces{/thumb} BUT with square brackets and use the 'light switch' upper left corner, to get into editing in BBC code area. http://i.imgur.com/WhRVB8s.png And here is an example. http://i.imgur.com/NErC2BT.png Hope this works for you as well as the excellent one from David .... which was news to me too Edited May 2, 2014 by Pixey 2 Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. Ego Eram Reputo
Pixey, I use your method exactly when making new galleria posts. I'm sure the location of the image is not critical. Imgur or Photobucket - it shouldn't matter, because you're only using the URL Quote ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker
Red ochre
I now use the same method as Pixey using imgur. When Photobucket changed they started taking the link to their 'album page' rather than a full screen image... Which takes longer to load and looks ugly. That's why I changed!I think Pixey's screen shots should help many new users! Quote Red ochre Plugin pack.............. TechnoRobbo
Here's a really easy way. Click on "more reply options" Attach a file Click on "Add to Post" and the thumbnail can be placed anywhere you select. It's a smaller thumbnail than the thumbnail method but it doesn't require a second internet location. If you do this a lot it may use up whatever quota the board imposes on you (10 megs?) fast. Cc4FuzzyHuggles
Wrap an image in a URL. Place the thumbnail-sized image first, then select it and click the URL button to add a link. Thanks David. I thought that the ability to use an image as a link was possible, but I haven't tried it yet. I will have to play with your suggestion at some point, since I now have a few other ideas on how to use that function with photobucket. I mainly use photobucket because the last time I checked, they don't delete my old unviewed images. I'm still fiddling with how to view images out of photobucket's photo album, which does require more steps than simply grabbing a thumbnail link, but for now, I think I'll be fine with it. (in photobucket, right clicking an image and then clicking view image, bypass the photo ablum for me.) I finally tried it and this way works nicly too. http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o528/Cc4FuzzyHuggles/Creativity/AbstractCurlyLinesBasicLayers2_zps259e4c3b.jpg I did use photobucket though, instead of imgur. In photobucket > right click image > view image > copy url > do as pixey said with the light switch and [tthumb] [/tthumb] but with thumb spelled correctly. Yes, but it only works on the 2nd time you click on the link. The first click takes you to the whole page on photobucket which a lot of folks don't like Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. Cc4FuzzyHuggles
I normally use FireFox for my web browser, I now tested it with Internet Explorer and it did as you said. So when I'm using FireFox, I think it is one of the FireFox addons that I have that bypasses the photobucket gallery for me. Thanks for that feedback, as I see how the linking functions for others now. Quote *~ Cc4FuzzyHuggles Gallery ~*

Red ochre
Hello Cc4FH,I think Pixey and myself had this discussion about a year ago when Photobucket changed their policy. Here, if you want an entertaining read! http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/26049-understanding-photobucket-link-options/I'm on Firefox29 and can only get the gallery page - (not the individual single image page) from your link. For me this doesn't seem to depend on if the image is in the browser cache or not - though it used to, the last time I used PB.As stated, I use Imgur but some people use Deviant art successfully - seems to be PB that is still problematic. Ego Eram Reputo
FF29 shows the Gallery view on the first click, the image alone on the second click. Cc4FuzzyHuggles
Try double clicking the image? Scratch that, I tried in IE and double clicking doesn't do anything. However, does anyone know anything about fotki.com for free image hosting? yellowman
@EER, yes in FF29, IE11 and Chrome, and it is been like that for long time now, almost 2 years. Pixey
@Fuzzy I just tried Fotki. You can join for free. Make an album, upload your picture then click on "Share" and choose "more options" on the right hand side drop-down to get the codes which then open up at the bottom of your image. To get the thumb size on here, do the "light switch" thing and post just the http: code (with no " at the beginning or end) between the (thumb) and (/thumb) with the square brackets. http://images51.fotki.com/v303/photos/7/3317717/12991655/P1010220-vi.jpg Here are some shots of "How to " http://images16.fotki.com/v387/photos/7/3317717/12991655/ShareonFotki-vi.png http://images60.fotki.com/v367/photos/7/3317717/12991655/CodesonFotki-vi.png Good Luck Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon. skullbonz
So then you can't do this with a Photo Bucket image? I have an upgraded account at Photobucket so I am not chomping at the bit to change that or use some other image hosting site. The directions above do not fit photobucket and are a bit confusing. One thing that would help would be to call things exactly as they are written at pdn and the image hosting site you are talking about and not changing the words. None of these are called "URL"s but a couple have "URL" in the name. Which link do you insert? Where is the switch you talk about? I use only Google Chrome for a browser also so does any of this work in that? Or am I doomed to the way it is? lol Quote http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21233-skullbonz-art-gallery
skullbonz
Perhaps a thread with good up to date detailed instructions for different image hosting sites and inserting them into PDN would be a good idea for people with limited skills such as myself. Pixey
No @Skull - none of this applies to Photobucket, they are an entity to themselves The 'switch thing' is explained by me, with a shot of it, at the top of this page. It will only apply to images being saved on Imgur or Fotki. Ego Eram Reputo
Photobuckets Direct Link should be the raw URL (from memory). Surround that with thumb tags and you should have a working link of the type I posted earlier in this thread. That's the sort with the differing two-clicks action.
