  1. Aha. Yes you can do this. Try Ctrl + Shift + V (instead of Ctrl + Alt + V). This pastes the copied selection into a new layer in the current image. The positioning will be preserved - but you'll want to use Save As... and specify the PDN file format (to preserve the layer structure) the first time you save so you don't overwrite the original image file. If you repeat this for all the states, each layer should contain one state and the whole image should look the same. One caveat: you're using transparent areas in each layer to allow the other layers to show through. You need to make sure your exported files support transparency, so save them as PNG and not JPG. This plugin saves the layers in one go: Layer Saver Another thought, is this plugin any use: Cutter?
  2. If you make your selection you can copy it with Ctrl + C then paste it into a new image with Ctrl + Alt + V. That will allow you to fiddle with the selection on another canvas and not affect the original image.
  3. Hi Phirsty - welcome to the forum We call this the Pleasantville Effect. There is a tutorial: Click Here, and a plugin which automates the effect here: click Here (Moved your thread to paint.net Discussion & Questions)
  4. Oops. My mistake. I've been seeing so many tool options lately I'm starting to dream them.
  5. Tip: Have your cloud on it's own layer. Using the Radial Gradient , select the Transparent mode from the Tool Bar. Click in the centre of your cloud and drag outwards. This should progressively fade the cloud from the center out - fading the edges the most.
  6. I'm not 100% this is what you want, but do try it: 1. Install Outline from this plugin pack BoltBait's plugin pack 2. Place your object on it's own transparent layer. 3. Run Outline from the Effects > Object menu. Edit: Beaten by Fuzzy
  7. To rid yourself of the remnant black edges (or any other color) I highly recommend AA's Assistant. Find it here: Dpy's Plugin Pack After installation & restarting paint.net, you'll find it in the Effects > Object menu. Tip: You may need to run it twice to clear up everything.
  8. There's a new feature in the PDN4 toolset that enables/disables the aliasing on selection edges. Find it in the Tool Bar with the Magic Wand active (and other tools). The Tool Bar icon looks like a small circle with four tiny circles on it. Edit: As Rick pointed out - Magic Wand doesn't support anti-aliased selections. My mistake.

  10. Your images always make me smile Seerose. It's impossible to visit your Gallery and not leave happier. Thank you.
  11. Most importantly, press F1 in paint.net to be taken to the online documentation. You'll learn how to use the program there
  12. I didn't know this! Thank you for posting it
  13. I think that you should give them a screen to printer scale rather than introducing another. "Your Screen is set to: Y ppi" (fixed size) "Printer Resolution: X dpi" (configurable size) "Approximate print size is: Y / X x 100 % (% of Screen size @ 100% scale)
  14. Thanks for the update. I tried this plugin and it's very impressive. I exported a demo image to HTML and it worked like a charm. Great job!
  15. September Update An astonishing array of new plugins this month. There are 11 in total - except that three are from last month. I forgot them However, they're back!! I have to make special mention of the Plugin Browser. This is an astonishing plugin which allows you to locate and run effects from within paint.net. There are a number of different search options, location, author, keywords, etc...., Plugins compliant with the Plugin Browser will show a preview image. Thanks to the Dwarf Horde (TechnoRobbo, Red Ochre, BoltBait & myself) for this very impressive piece of kit. Try it! Here they are: Basic Edge Detector - @AnthonyScoffler. Used to make outlines that reduce the data needed to analyze an image, deducing areas of interest, and enabling the use of many interesting edge-based effects. Callicolour - @Red ochre. Create beautiful colored ribbons by setting four control points. Many coloring options. Channel Operations - @AnthonyScoffler. Perform a number of operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division etc…, on a selected red, green, blue, hue, saturation, value, or alpha channel (or rgb or hsv all at once). Channel swapping is also supported. Chroma Key/Green Screen - @mgeorgiady. Pair of plugins which allow for the removal of solid backgrounds from images. Simple Green Screen works with green or blue backgrounds, Simple Chroma Key with any color background. Cutter - @MOP3E. Create an image map with this simple intuitive interface. Select regions of the image and save the necessary sub-images and code to recreate the original image. A number of code formats are supported including HTML. Gears - @Red ochre. Render a glorious variety of gears, cogs, wheels, bearings, pulley, sprocket, chainwheel, nuts and other circular shapes. Configurable spokes, teeth and number of faces plus a huge number of other options. Plugin Browser - @TechnoRobbo. Locate, search and run effects from within the Plugin Browser. List installed plugins by Menu, Author, Alphabetically or by Keyword(s). Bookmark and add comments to your favorite plugins. Find information on plugins and see an effect preview image (where available). Extensive inbuilt documentation. StringAndPin - @Red ochre. Mimics String Art (aka Nail and Yarn) by stringing colored lines evenly between three fixed points to form abstract geometric patterns. Relocatable "pin" ponts & many coloring options. TR's FilmStrip - @TechnoRobbo. Creates a proofsheet style image from a series of video grabs. Number of colums in the finished compilation is configurable. Note that the two support files are essential. TR's Intensity Warp - @TechnoRobbo. Re-map pixels within an image by the intensity. Supports textures, gradients and custom textures. Some very nice metallic sheens are possible. Truncate Resolution - @AnthonyScoffler. Simulates resolution loss by taking the values of each color channel (and optionally the transparency channel) and snapping them to multiples of the given number. An image with 8 as a number converts each color channel value to a multiple of 8.
  16. 1. Would you please upload this in ZIP format? I don't want to have to download another program to unpack it. I'm sure others feel the same way. 2. What is the name of the DLL? 3. Are any supporting files included in the download? 4. Where in the paint.net menus is the plugin located? Thanks.
  17. OK. You found this plugin right? http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=22863
