  1. Ah. You want to do the opposite of DrumSkin. How about this little beauty... http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/23433-squirklewarp/
  2. Seconded. Pixey is a marvelous asset to this forum. It's no wonder we're so fond of her!
  3. You might be able to capture some of the stray pixels by increasing the Tolerance of the Magic Wand. If the background is different then trying to use it as a mask is doomed I'm afraid. Perhaps this might help http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/13796-cutting-out-images/
  4. Layer the two images one above the other on a single canvas. Full image below and background image above. Set the upper layer's blend mode to XOR. This should black out all pixels which exactly match the lower layer. Select the black region on the upper layer with the magic Wand and a very low tolerance. You're trying to get just the background elements - not the "object" Activate the full image layer & press delete. Hide the upper layer. What just happened here? We used XOR to find the matching pixels in both images. We selected these and removed them from the full image. This should have left us with the net different pixels between the two images.
  5. Hi Engztrom - welcome to the forum! Try this: Add a new layer to an existing image (tip: this gets the size correct) On that layer, make a filled rectangle the correct size for the selection. Lower the opacity to around 50% (so the underlying image can be seen a little). Delete the original layer File > Save As.... "MySelectionTemplate" and PNG format. Now when you need to crop a new image: Open the photo image Layer > Import layer from File Navigate to your stored file & select it. Click on the template layer & select the rectangle with the Magic Wand. Click on the image layer and press Ctrl + Shift + X Delete the template layer & save.
  6. Try running AA's Assistant twice or even three times. What font are you using for the text?
  7. Its gone. Don't hold your breath for its return. Rick did ask for opinions. The overwhelming response was that it was rarely used. I can see why Rick cut it and focused on other features.
  8. These issues are best re-posted in the thread you created dealing with that image.
  9. The message means you have so much "stuff" going on inside your computer that there isn't enough free memory to perform the paste operation. Try closing down some of the superfluous applications like email, browser & anything else (except paint.net) that are open. Opening multiple images in paint.net will also use up more memory, so close any images that you don't need right now.
  10. This topic is better suited to the paint.net Discussion & Questions section. I'll move it there.
  11. Nice planet tditdatdwt! We're going to have to try and make this into a competition!
  12. Check your anti-aliasing. I know you said it was on, but it really looks like it wasn't when you typed that text.
  13. Try lowering the Tolerance of the Magic Wand down to about 8%. Select outside the text and invert the selection with Ctrl + I. Then apply your gradient. Edit: Here's the critical part of the History of the image I posted above.
  14. Download BoltBait's plugin pack (found here). It has both Flip Selection Horizontally and Flip Selection Vertically. To rotate the selection press M to activate the Move Tool and move the mouse until the cursor becomes a double headed curved arrow. Then hold down the mouse button and drag. That's the way to Rotate a selection
  15. Added a screenshot to my post above to help out anyone not familiar with the new Shapes Tool.
  16. 1. Put your text on it's own layer. ALWAYS put your text on it's own layer 2. Apply the gradient to actual text on the text layer. 3. Use Feather or AA's Assistant to soften the edges if required. 4. Trick for the future: Work at 2x the final size you require & save the image as a *.PDN to preserve the layer structure. Then resize by 50% & Save As... a PNG or JPG or whatever.
  17. Installing a newer version shouldn't affect the installed plugins. What you're probably experiencing is incompatibility issues because you need to update some of your plugins. Please give us an example of an effect with won't work and we'll try to determine why.
  18. You're using the ellipse select tool. That's for making selections, not drawing. To draw an ellipse or circle you need to use the new Shapes tool. Activate that tool from the tools window then select the shape you want from the drop down list in the Tool Bar.
  19. Gimme a couple of days. I have a few other projects on the go What's the easiest field for you to use to id the plugins? Name or *.DLL?
  20. Make a close selection around the outer edges of the frame which does NOT include the top of the frame and has a wider margin at the bottom of the frame. Effects > Distort > Bulge gives you this... If you want a stronger bend, press Ctrl + F (repeat last effect = Bulge) without altering the selection.
  21. The trick is to use layers, rather than inverting half of a single-layered image. 1. Open the image 2. Duplicate the single layer. 3. On the top layer, Select the part of the image you want to invert. 4. Press Ctrl + I to invert the selection (i.e. everything you want to remain original will be selected). 5. Press Delete to remove the 'original' bits from the layer. 6. Press Ctrl + Shift + I to invert what's left of the layer. 7. Merge down & save. Here's how it looks after step 6. I've filled in the corner you inverted to make the effect clearer. My Selection in step 3 is the top left corner. Steps 4 and 5 remove the rest of the duplicated layer - which is why you can see the gray and white checkerboard pattern - this denotes transparency!
