  1. Neat that you've sorted it Art. Now got forth and create circular text
  2. It's created automatically when the circle-text plugin is loaded. That the sub-menu isn't there tells us that the plugin is not loaded. Please verify you have unzipped the *.dll file(s) and placed them in your paint.net/Effects/ folder and restarted paint.net?
  3. Another method: 1. Activate the magic wand tool 2. Hold down Shift and click anywhere on the text layer which isn't a character (i.e. select the background or surrounding area). 3. Invert the selection with Ctrl + I 4. Add a new layer 5. Draw your gradient. It should fill only the selected region on the new layer.
  4. Use a space in the command line between parameters - not a slash. paintnet.exe /createMSI DESKTOPSHORTCUT=0 JPGPNGBMPEDITOR=1
  5. Hey Art! Welcome to the forum. That plugin is located under Effects > Text Formations. Do you have that sub menu under Effects?
  6. Hey fanmixco - welcome to the forum You can use Layers > Import from File (http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/LayersMenu.html) to add a new image as a new layer. Or if you have copied the image in the clipboard use Ctrl + Shift + V (http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/EditMenu.html) to paste the clipboard image into a new layer.
  7. We are reviewing our systems to try and stem the tide. It's a balancing act. Of course we don't want to lock new users out of the forum - just make it difficult for spammers to get on.
  8. There is no spot healing tool. You thinking of the Clone Stamp?
  9. I agree that it's preferable to be 'complete' but we have little control over how tutorials are published. Video tutorials are a good case in point. If they show the use of a plugin there is no way a newb will know that it need to be installed separately. Tutorials in the Beginner section are aimed at beginners. They explain basic concepts and tend to be simpler and/or more thorough.
  10. December Update Just the one plugin published this month - but it's a beauty BoltBait's Seam Carving - @BoltBait. Effect calculates line(s) through an image (photograph) with the least amount of changes and deletes those lines shifting all pixels over to fill the gap. This is often called "content aware resizing".
  11. You could always make a template the right size and open that. ref: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/32155-templates-for-paintnet/?p=429811 and https://www.isimonbrown.co.uk/pdn-templates/
  12. Which fractal set? The built in Mandelbrot fractal doesn't have coloring options, but this one does Fractal Mandelbrot
  13. Or maybe this one: Sound Wave Edit: maybe not. I was thinking of something else.
  14. If you download the PDF version of the Plugin Index you'll find more information on each plugin - including the compatibility with different versions of paint.net.
  15. Just remember that Rick will not guarantee child folders (under the parent Effects folder) will not be parsed. Future version of paint.net *might* parse these sub folders looking for effects. Admission time: I too use a child folder named "Unused". If/when Rick changes this space we might need to find another option/location.
  16. Custom search is mentioned here http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/WebLinks.html and here http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/HelpMenu.html Ctrl + E in paint.net itself will open the custom search URL in your default browser. If it's a tutorial - mention the broken links in the same thread. It may have been revived in a new form. If the images and links are just dead from old age then I or one of the other Mods will move that tutorial to the Graveyard (where dead tuts get buried ).
  17. I don't see the need for a slider to have that level of precision. Ditto the roll control. However it won't hurt at all, so why not?
  18. Thanks Fuzzy. I'm currently working on the website navigation. So please don't feel that your suggestions are being ignored. I DO appreciate hearing them. Once we have the navigation & associated layout tweaks in place I'll begin reviewing the content. I have already flagged several of your suggestions for inclusion.
  19. The magic wand page has example images showing the application of different tolerances. Both Magic Wand and Paint Bucket have the tolerance explained in the text. I'm not going to make an image for every possible option/setting for every tool. Apart from changing the color on the fly what isn't mentioned?
