  1. I'm new to PDN but have been most impressed with what I have been able to do so far. However, I can't get my head around Layers. I've looked at the tutorials and even the most basic seems to assume that one has a fundamental knowledge of layers. I want to crop two different images from two different photos and put them together on a different background. As I understand it I will need possibly three layers for this ( at least two) and I understand the way it is to be done. I have followed the instructions in the .pdf Paint.Net - "The unofficial users guide", the section "Cutting Out Images" but it doesn't seem to work for me. I outline the first image from the photo, do the inversion (when the whole thing turns a sort of filmy bue) and select the background layer from the "Layers" panel and press delete. This brings me back to where I was after I outlined the part to be cut out and saved. I can' seem to get past this point. I believe I've followed the instructions to the letter but no result. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Art
  2. I have a photo which has been taken with the camera slightly askew, therefore the picture is not square. I would like to crop it so that everything lines up squarely with the border. In some graphics applications the selection has a handle which enables a fine adjustment. Is there such a feature in PDN or is there perhaps a work-around. Art
  3. Thanks all for those suggestions. Used the Alpha Cutter. Most impressive. Art
  4. Hi, I'm new to Paint.NET but have been most impressed with what I've learned so far. I've got a club photo where one member unfortunately was missed out and I would like to make a copy with him included. I've got a picture of him which I could put on the end of the line but I don' tknow how to go about it. I'm sure there must be a tutorial that explains image cropping and manipulation but I can't find one. Can someone please point me in the right direction or give me a link. Art
  5. Thanks for that. I had pasted in the complete dpyplugins folder. Apparently that's not the way to do it. I have now pasted in each file individually and it works fine. Again, thanks for your help. Art
  6. Many thanks for your reply. No, "Text Formations" doesn't appear. Where do I get it? Art
  7. Hi, I'm new to Getpaint but am finding my way around it O.K., however, I have a problem with a plugin (to create text in a circle or an arc) I have downloaded and installed the plugin into the Effects folder - it is definitely there but when I click on the Effects button it doesn't show. What am I missing? Any help or suggestion greatly appreciated Art
