You're welcome my friend

I agree that it's preferable to be 'complete' but we have little control over how tutorials are published. Video tutorials are a good case in point. If they show the use of a plugin there is no way a newb will know that it need to be installed separately. Tutorials in the Beginner section are aimed at beginners. They explain basic concepts and tend to be simpler and/or more thorough.

December Update Just the one plugin published this month - but it's a beauty BoltBait's Seam Carving - @BoltBait. Effect calculates line(s) through an image (photograph) with the least amount of changes and deletes those lines shifting all pixels over to fill the gap. This is often called "content aware resizing".

Enabled / Disabled plugins

Just remember that Rick will not guarantee child folders (under the parent Effects folder) will not be parsed. Future version of paint.net *might* parse these sub folders looking for effects. Admission time: I too use a child folder named "Unused". If/when Rick changes this space we might need to find another option/location. -
Custom search is mentioned here http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/WebLinks.html and here http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/HelpMenu.html Ctrl + E in paint.net itself will open the custom search URL in your default browser. If it's a tutorial - mention the broken links in the same thread. It may have been revived in a new form. If the images and links are just dead from old age then I or one of the other Mods will move that tutorial to the Graveyard (where dead tuts get buried ).

What has that to do with the Plugin Index?

Thanks Fuzzy. I'm currently working on the website navigation. So please don't feel that your suggestions are being ignored. I DO appreciate hearing them. Once we have the navigation & associated layout tweaks in place I'll begin reviewing the content. I have already flagged several of your suggestions for inclusion.

The magic wand page has example images showing the application of different tolerances. Both Magic Wand and Paint Bucket have the tolerance explained in the text. I'm not going to make an image for every possible option/setting for every tool. Apart from changing the color on the fly what isn't mentioned?

1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete keys simultaneously to start the Task Manager. It will give you a list of processes running on your system. Tell us what the CPU figure says (central processing unit = your computers 'engine'). 2. Previously I asked how many plugins you have installed. Having a lot will slow the startup on a low spec computer by a large factor. Even to the point where is appears to be unresponsive. This may be a clue because paint.net is not actually crashing. So, do you have lots of plugins installed?

Great idea. Done!

Safe to download these plugins?
Ego Eram Reputo replied to TimAllen's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
The plugins released via the forum have a very sound reputation. That said, I'd still get into the habit of scanning any download before opening or installing it. Use something other than Norton. It thinks everything is a virus.- 1 reply

Expanding on the Unsafe keyword; Pointers can read past your virtual screen bounds (or whatever) into memory used for other stuff. If you start writing into these locations things are going to break quickly. The Unsafe keyword let's you know you're close-to-the-edge and should be very careful. It is also an acknowledgement that you understand the risks
