themagicdood
Hello, I have been using Paint.net 4.0.9 on my (now broken) laptop, and i have bought a PC, the problem is that I cannot add the latest version of paint.net to my computer since it had no SP1, I tried updating, restarting, all of that, and it still did not work, I cannot download 3.5.11 since my anti-virus strictly does not want me to download it, any help? toe_head2001
No, paint.net v4.x requires at least Windows 7 SP1. What exactly is stopping you from installing SP1? ... since my anti-virus strictly does not want me to download it ... Who's in control of your computer? You or the vendor of the that antivirus? You may want to replace that "antivirus" with one that knows what its job is. Quote My Gallery | My Plugin Pack Layman's Guide to CodeLab
Red ochre
1. Sort your 'new' computer out first! - windows 7? - apply as many Windows updates as it gives you - could take a while!1a. When it says SP1 is installed you should be good to install, I think?2. Are you downloading Pdn 3.5.11 from a 'bad' place? - filehippo seems to be the best choice.3. If your anti-virus is Norton then you have no chance of ever installing anything useful... Do check everything you download though! ... there are better AV programmes (online free to check stuff only).4. How did the laptop get 'broken'?... I'm worried you have downloaded something bad? david.atwell
SP1 was just installed today, according to your screenshot. Check again and see if PdN will install. null54
Has the free upgrade to Win 10 expired already? No, according the the Microsoft FAQ it is available until July 29, 2016 Quote Plugin Pack | PSFilterPdn | Content Aware Fill | G'MIC | Paint Shop Pro Filetype | RAW Filetype | WebP Filetype The small increase in performance you get coding in C++ over C# is hardly enough to offset the headache of coding in the C++ language. ~BoltBait
Ego Eram Reputo
That being the case I'd advise themagicdood to forget about SP1 for Win 7 and go straight for the Win 10 upgrade. Red ochre
The article Null54 linked to says Windows 10 is only available if Windows 7 has SP1 installed... well that's the way I read it? Microsoft is making Windows 10 available as a free upgrade for compatible devices that are running genuine Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows 8.1 Update. Quote Red ochre Plugin pack.............. themagicdood
Guys, I have updated my PC, With SP1, And a random question, will paint.net always be using SP1? I hope so.
Ego Eram Reputo
Paint.net's developer (Rick) pushes out new updates and versions on a regular basis. With .NET 4.6 and Win 7 SP1 I think you're safe for some time to come. That said, I'm sure Win 7's market share has plummeted with the release of Win 10, so there may be merit in getting the Win 10 upgrade if you're able to.
