  1. Sorry, but what Simon Brown linked you to, is the best solution right now. If you really need it so badly, I can honestly tell you to download GIMP. It's free too.
  2. It is as clear as a chocolate pie on the back of a wet elephant. Thanks though for taking the time to explain how it works. Now that I have the information, I'm sure to fire it up soon, and crank out some photomanips.
  3. I promised I would be by to visit, and I always deliver with my words. Going through your gallery, two things stood out to me: 1) You have a rough skill with texture. I will encourage you to stick with it, get the hang of it, and you'll be surprise of what you can do with texture. 2) Dents I is my favorite out of the whole thing. Why? Because of how the color compliments each other. Expand your mind. Explore the limits of PDN. If you need help, we're here to help you along.
  4. I can see usefulness for landscaping picture (working in tandem with Landscape plugin) or to improve texture that I plan to make soon (if I ever find the time...) Reading the source code made me cross-eyed, but I was wondering what effects did you pull together to make this plugin? *downloads*
  5. Thanks for your visit. I'll visit your gallery when I'm at my computer. Right now, I'm using my phone to type this out.
  6. I think I put my foot in my mouth this time. I should had thought this one more thoroughly. Thanks for your thoughts fellas.
  7. I get what you are saying, david. What do you do about users who complain about not having tablet support enabled in PDN? Also, there was a couple of questions regarding porting PDN to work on Mac or Linux, and I am sure Rick is getting tired of answering those questions. I believe it is in the FAQ where he addresses those. Let's be honest: most people don't bother reading the rules, the FAQ, or the Popular Requests topics. Maybe it's moot to have another announcement to address all of those trends.
  8. I have noted that lately there has been several topics being posted regarding non-PDN related issues. I'm not just talking about the latest complaints regarding system restore...goodness that was enough to give me a headache. I know the announcement in the Alfredo is the only place where it is stated this is not a tech support board. I was thinking it may behoove all of us, myself included, to be reminded in the GD&Q that this subforum is not for tech support either. Thoughts?
  9. I forgot to add another picture. Thanks to everyone who commented, it is greatly appreciated. @AFG, it is indeed good to use glass on other things other than orbs. Now I need to make something else...
  10. aguba, that's a great work! I see you finally resolved the AA issue. What did you do to avoid that? I would like to know so I could use it in my work too. I have an idea, but want to hear yours first.
  11. Would this work similar to the shrink/expand selection seen in Photoshop?
  12. Oma, I didn't noticed the change until you mentioned you did, and I went back. Wow, what a difference it made! Hmm...if you could smooth out the edges of the deer, I think you will have nailed this piece, and it would make another wonderful addition to your already impressive gallery. I did a lot of scrolling up and down between your inspiration picture and your "canvas" piece. I can say that they are becoming very very close. You got the shadow spot on, and that's where I meant to darken. Cheers!
  13. Couple of things I can see: 1) the antlers need darkening a bit on the left rack. In the photograph, both racks are dark because it's a mature deer. 2) I see portion of the ears having trace of the background (green) too close to its ear. It's almost like smudging got carried away a bit. If you wanted to, I'm sure that you could darken the shadow a bit to give it more definition. Overall, a very good work, and near realistic piece. Probably much better than your previous version. I remember seeing your previous version and thinking it closely resembled a dog more than a deer. This time around, however, I do see a definite white-tailed deer that's so common in rural Virginia.
  14. BTW, congrats on winning the GE award. I actually nominated you for that specifically because of this plugin. Keep up the great work. 8) PS...I read your comment about Soft Light. It's no worries. Hey, do you think you may be able to create a plugin similar to Photoshop's lighting effect?
  15. Don't fret, my friend. Try these plugins: IntentColor Segment Image Try to think outside the box when using these plugins. You may surprise yourself. Edit: Found one that sounds like you could use. Color Count. Do a search with this keyword, "Color," and set the location to Plugin. You may find your search to be useful.
  16. Do a search for "kill color" plugin that is found in the Plugin Section of the forum. I can't remember the exact name, but there should be a few.
  17. Turn off whatever background you are using by clicking the check box unchecked.
  18. With an attitude like that, that's a surefire way to get your thread locked. Anyway, have you unzipped the fonts, installed it to the Font directory, shut down PDN and restart it? I know that v3.5.2 has the ability to automatically detect new fonts without having to shut down and restart PDN.
  19. Rick, great job with the new version. I have noticed render time is a bit faster, text has improved, and aliasing is improving too. Not much to complain about here, and enjoying my time with PDN. Cheers!
  20. You think it looks all right? Have you lost your marble? That is a great image! :!: Sometime, my friend, simple is best. Too much work + too much caffeine = overkill. How about reversing the name to "Boom Studio?"
  21. Nothing wrong with that. I think it's a great picture nonetheless. I know that many, many Photoshoppers use stocks and paint some beautiful masterpieces. Sometime I think we overemphasizes on making everything 100% PDN. What do I know anyway?
  22. Pardon the pun, but this is the da bomb!. I like it. As for making the shine in my latest post, it was the use of Metallize (you ought to check it out and download it), blending modes (I think I used negation or difference, can't remember anymore), and a bit of blur. Feathering didn't help at all. Perhaps the use of Rotate/Zoom does distort it if we use the setting too far back...it's not a 3D program after all, but we can get by. @Yellowman...that's a great picture!
  23. aguba, I logged in to let you know my thoughts. I am in awe of your works. My favorite is, surprise, surprise, the Windows glossy blocks. It is gorgeous and it should had won the WOTW competition a while back, but I didn't cast a vote then. On the 3D front, I think it is the problem with the font, and I'm hoping that Rick will have that issue worked out with the new released PDN version. I tried one last night and posted it in the Desktop Art thread, and I can't shake the feeling it is the text rendering. If it is at a large size, say, 200, it is sorely aliased. I hope you will keep at it, aguba.
  24. Sozo, I am in envy of your space work. I had often tried to compose a scene only to be frustrated by failure. Your work among others is inspiring. Keep it up. And good luck with the forum award.
