  1. There is no option to save the history - which is wiped when the Paint.NET session closes. Have you used the >, >>, < and << icons at the foot of the History Window? In combination with a screen capture utility this might be the best bet.
  2. Jim: would it be possible to attach a PDF version of the tutorial so users can download it and work through it offline?
  3. Woah - What a nice tutorial! Thanks Jim - you've obviously put a great deal of thought into this.
  4. Tried reinstalling/repairing the .NET framework?
  5. Hi GregIthaca, welcome to the forum. This thread is over five years old. It's dead and buried. If you want to raise this subject again - please start a new thread. Thanks. <closed>
  6. Closing duplicate thread. @AmadeusX you already have a thread in the pictorium (http://forums.getpai...12584-abstract/) - please use that to show off your works. From the Pictorium Guidelines:
  7. Your best bet is to write the characters to individual layers using the text tool , then resize each layer individually until the character fits. First create new layers for each character. These should be otherwise transparent and created above the shape/carrot layer using the Add New Layer icon :AddNewLayer: One layer for each character in "CARROT" = 6 new layers. Pick a suitable font from the Tool Bar once the text tool is active & make the text large enough to closely fill the height of the shape. Type exactly one character to each layer, in order, to spell the word "Carrot". Hint: click on the layer name in the Layers Window to activate it so it is ready to receive the next character. When done with the text tool, select the first layer again and hit M key to activate the Move tool Drag one of the eight the little square control nubs to resize the character layer until it fits your shape. Note that you can use the right mouse button to rotate the layer too. Resize and reposition each character individually to fill the shape. Save the image as a *.PDN to preserve the layer structure. Then use File | Save As... to save it in the final image format (e.g. PNG or JPG). Flatten as required.
  8. Hi creativepanda - welcome to the forum! It's just as qwertyuu has explained. The layers form a stack, just like a stack of clear acetate sheets. When viewed from 'above', the stack of layers makes up the whole image. The process of making up the final image from the stack of layers is called compositing. Layers higher in the stack (towards the top in the Layers Window) which have opaque regions will hide the contents of lower layers. In order to change the order of the layers, you need to move a layer up or down the stack (aka layers window). Click on a layer to make it active then click on one of the blue arrows  or  at the foot of the Layers Window to shift the layer up or down the stack. Edited your thread title to make it descriptive - in line with Forum Rule #6

  10. Hi there paintnetuser99 - welcome to the forum! This topic is almost six years old. We should treat it like it is out of date and closed (i.e. don't reply to it). If you would like to raise the subject again - please just create a new topic. Thanks. <closed>
  11. Have look here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/20764-pictures-side-by-side-before-and-after-images/
  12. Help us to help you by giving us a little more information. What error do you get? This one: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947876? Or this: http://www.winvistaclub.com/t67.html? Or even this: http://www.vistax64.com/vista-installation-setup/125389-error-while-installing-vista-service-pack-1-a.html?
  13. Try Effects | Noise | Reduce Noise (http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/EffectsNoiseMenu.html). Or Effects | Blurs | Surface Blur (http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/EffectsBlursMenu.html)
  14. Nice job null54. Thank you. I'll flag the old plugin as obsolete and link to this thread - done. Installation instructions: 1. download the zipped file attached to the first post in this thread. 2. Unzip it. 3. Copy or move the three *.dll files to the Paint.NET/Filetypes/ folder. 4. There may be a conflict between this plugin and the one it superseded. To avoid this you should delete the old plugin - you'll find it in the same folder. 5. Restart Paint.NET. As this is a filetype plugin it will only show up as additional file extensions in the load/save dialogs.
  15. @null54 to the rescue! Have a look at this brand new plugin for the Jpeg 2000 filetype: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/25170-jpeg-2000-filetype/page__pid__376606#entry376606 Note: you should probably remove the old plugin to avoid the two fighing over which will save or load the file
  16. Some quick fixes for the glare problems: BoltBait's excellent Landscape plugin or this http://forums.getpai...showtopic=12374 On the more technical front there are the Levels and Curves adjustments which may help.
  17. Thread is old, old, old MrHazardousMC - therefore we should consider it dead and buried. If you would like to revive the topic please just create a new thread. Thanks and welcome to the forum! <closed>
  18. Hi U15986 - welcome to the forum! 1. Select the magic wand tool 2. Click on the background with the Shift key held down (if the entire area is not selected adjust the Tolerance setting in the Tool Bar and select again). 3. Press delete. The background is deleted and replaced with a grey and white checkerboard pattern. This denotes transparency.
  19. Have you tried reading the on-line documentation? Press F1 in Paint.NET or point your browser to http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/ I'm working on a book. It's due in two months.
