  1. Often your cut out object has a thin edge that doesn't blend well with the new background. Placing the object on it's own layer and running AA's Assistant once or twice softens the edge making it blend nicely. You can find AA's Assistant here: DPY's Plugin Pack
  2. This topic prompted me to issue a warning about the megalo pack http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/28270-megalo-virus/?p=408182
  3. Thanks for the pin David. I'm hoping a little warning might help a few users out before they get into trouble.
  4. We've had yet another instance of well-meaning users downloading and installing the 'Megalo' plugin pack. That's where their problems begin. I know it sounds great to get all* the plugins in one go. But it isn't. It's a disaster. For YOU and for your PC! You see, the accursed Megalo pack illegally bundles and redistributes plugins without permission. This is SOFTWARE PIRACY! It's ILLEGAL. Then of course there's the VIRUS. That's right, you get the EVOGEN virus absolutely free with all those outdated plugins. That is the motivation these thieves have for creating this abomination. If you have installed this nasty bit of slime, please DO consider your PC infected. You should remove ALL traces of the download and ALL the plugins it installed. Then SCAN, CLEAN and SCAN again using the latest virus scanner you can lay your hands on. If you want plugins - get them from this forum or from links posted here by the plugin author. NEVER install a plugin from anywhere else. Here's a little sampling of what our esteemed forum users have had to say about the Megalo pack.... * You don't get "all" the plugins anyway. Most of the latest plugins are yet to be defiled by these software thieves.
  5. The green bar is a progress bar. It (usually) indicates that something is working in the background. I say "usually" because there have been one or two glitches with the progress bar in PDN 4.0 beta. This may be one of the known issues, or you may have discovered a new one To help pinpoint the problem, can you reopen Paint.NET and give a step-by-step list of things you do which results in the progress bar doing it's constant fill. In itself this is not a crash. Nor is anything out of place in your effects folder.
  6. Remember, plugins slow the load time of Paint.NET. Why would you stuff many plugins in there that you're never going to use?
  7. Engrave/emboss is not compatible with PDN 4.0. See http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/27661-incompatible-plugins-an-incomplete-list/
  8. Welcome to the forum Joann! As you can see, I've moved your post. It is a better fit here in the Paint.NET Discussion & Questions section Now to your problem: I suspect that there is more than meets the eye here! A few questions: 1. Is it just Paint.NET that is crashing? Or other programs too? 2. Which version of Paint.NET are you using (when you open it look in the top left corner). 3. It is unlikely to be the plugins, but please post a screenshot of your /Effects/ folder just to be sure. 4. Is there a crash log (look on your desktop)? If you find one, copy & paste the contents into a reply in this thread.
  9. C:\Program Files\Paint.net This might be helpful: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/InstallPDN.html
  10. C:\Program Files\Paint.net This might be helpful: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/InstallPDN.html
  11. Your workaround is the way we do it. We have no 'magnetic lasso' for making selections.
  12. I'm sharing files with Dropbox. Works like a folder on your HDD. Copy files to it and it syncs when you're online. Posting a link is as simple as clicking the Share button. Easy. Free. Of course you can just attach the zipped PDF to your post. See options at the bottom of the full editor window.
  13. There is nothing official yet. I'm sure the website will be made over when PDN 4.0 is released. Until then, have a read through Rick's blog to find out more about the new features. http://blog.getpaint.net/
  14. Those are the control nubs. The Shapes tool now has these so you can stretch, size and rotate the shape before committing it to the canvas. Try zooming in or enlarging the arrow to see these more clearly.
  15. Pixel grid in Paint.NET is just that. A pixel sized grid. It is not configurable. You're using the correct plugin to make the grid. You can snap an object to a grid with TR's Pseudo snap. Be aware that the object must be on a transparent layer.
  16. Try emptying your /effects/ folder. Install one plugin & see if that shows up. If it does not, post a screenshot showing the /effects/ folder path & contents. Q: are you installing to the default location or somewhere else?
  17. I've promoted your "Perfume Bottle" to the Galleria. Congratulations Pixey!
  18. Sea of Stars promoted to the Galleria. Congratulations Drydareelin!
  19. Thanks Doughty. PDF now attached to the first post. What a team
  20. Doughty/yellowman: if you send me a copy I'll attach it directly to the first post.
  21. Rick has said that he won't be adding features at this stage. Only fixing bugs. This is so he can get this version to a public release as soon as possible. You're probably best to drop feature requests into the Paint.NET Discussion & Questions thread.
