The merge order is important. You should always merge from the bottom up. This means merge the two bottom layers first. Repeat this process as many times as you need. I suspect you're merging from the top down. This plays merry hell with the blend modes as inheritance populates the newly merged layer with the blend mode and applies it to the next lower layer. Simplest technique for correct merging and entire image? Flatten it with Ctrl + Shift + F.

Grab one of the control nubs and drag it outwards to alter the size and shape of the arrow. There is no option to bend the arrow while it is being drawn. You'll have to find a manual method once the arrow is committed to the canvas. Hint: Power Stretch plugin.

Thanks for the link to the larger image. I've edited the Galleria link.

need help with layers

Hi Mark - glad to have you aboard! 1. The Text layer needs to be Active. Click on it in the Layers window so it gets the blue highlight. Hiding the other layers does not necessarily mean the one remaining layer has the editing focus. 2. Activate the Artwork layer (see above ). Press Ctrl + A to select all the layer. Press M to activate the Move Tool Click and drag the layer around. Right click to rotate it. 3. Move the text while you're typing it by grabbing the four-way control nub at the bottom right of the text. If the text is already committed to the layer (i.e. you're no longer actively typing it) then use my answer from #2 - of course activating the Text layer instead of the Artwork. 4. Combining all the layers is called Flattening. You can do this with Ctrl + Shift + F. Beware - if you save this image flattened you may lose the individual layers. Best you should save it as a *.PDN prior to flattening (so you can re-edit later), then flatten and use File Save As.... to save again as a jpg/png or whatever. -
Hi Zippy - welcome The short answer is: You can't. The Tool Bar contains some options for the Tools that are not available elsewhere. I find it hard to believe you never use the options in the Tool Bar. Never created a Transparent Gradient? Adjusted the Tolerance of the Magic Wand? Adjusted the font, font size, or font formatting in any way? How about the thickness of the Paint Brush? Surely you have??

Welcome to the forum doonks You can open multiple images. However there is no option to undock the editing window. When you open multiple images, you can switch between them by clicking the thumbnail in the Image list at the top of the screen. This should resolve the cut/paste problem you mentioned. As for editing images side-by-side, no you can't unless you want to increase the canvas size enough to accommodate both images. Here's a tutorial on this technique: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/20764-pictures-side-by-side-before-and-after-images/

Right click your desktop > New > Shortcut Navigate to Computer > C:/Program Files/Paint.NET 3.5.11 (or whatever you called it) and double click the file PaintDotNet.exe Then it's OK all the way home. NB: You can't run them simultaneously. -

When updating, simply run the installer. You don't need to remove the old version first. The installer handles this for you
