  1. MODERATORS NOTE: This plugin has been rewritten and re-released by null54 Find the latest version here >>LINK<< Secure Download If you get a warning, try the unencrypted download. Despite the brilliance of Paint.NET, sometimes another program is needed to add something to a Paint.NET project. TOA adds an item to the tools menu which allows you to select one of several applications in which the current layer will be opened. That application can then be used to make adjustments, save and when it is closed and you click OK to the dialog - the changes will appear in Paint.NET. The above image has the icons replaced with generic ones. To use, just click an icon.
  2. MODERATORS NOTE: This effect may have issues with newer versions of Paint.NET. An alternative plugin, called Paste Alpha, is available here: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/113220-boltbaits-plugin-pack-for-pdn-v41-and-beyond-updated-december-1-2018/ Alpha Mask -- 2.0 AlphaMask.zip Version 2.0 adds the ability to use whatever image is on your clipboard. The supported image types at the moment is kinda sketchy, but the kicker is it works for stuff copied inside Paint.NET, which is 99% of this plugin's use, anyway. This plugin allows you to import an image from a file or the clipboard and make it an alpha mask. If the image has color, it will be converted to greyscale. Clipboard idea courtesy BoltBait. 3. Here is a compilation DLL of all my (major) plugins. I've tried to reconstruct some of my codelab-made scripts to the best of my abilities into this compilation, although some Icons may be missing. However, all functionality is, so far as I have tested, there. Gradient effect by Boltbait and me was left out due to the fact that it is obsolete. Included Plugins: Alpha Mask * Cutout Effect Advanced Greyscale Point Warp Effect Polar to Rect Download v1.1 here: MODERATORS NOTE: This compilation of effects is incompatible with Paint.NET 4.0x PluginCompilation.zip These plugins replace the following DLLs in your effects folder: AdvGrey.dll; AlphaMask.dll; CutoutEffect.dll; PointWarpEffect.dll; [and] PolarRect.dll (if you have the Polar -> Rect file built under this name). *Portions of this effect is attributed to Pleska. v1.1: Placed Alpha Mask in the Object submenu, Placed Advanced Greyscale in the Photo submenu, Relocated Strings to a resource file contained within its own namespace. 4. MODERATORS NOTE: this plugin has been superseded by a newer version: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/114190-optipng-filetype-2019-05-07/ Hi everybody! This isn't really a new plugin, just modified version from old OptiPNG file type plugin. Switching old OptiPNG plugin is recommended because it uses outdated version of OptiPNG which contains security vulnerabilities. Functionality is same and source based on I Like Pi's code, so most of the credit doesn't belong to me. Downloads: Download Plugin: OptiPNG plugin.ZIP Download Source: http://mir.cr/3EWYQMQS Installation: Both the OptiPngFileType.dll and optipng.exe need to be in the FileTypes directory. Changelog: October 7, 2011 - updated OptiPNG to 0.65, little reformatting to code and few changes to UI June 12, 2012 - updated OptiPNG to 0.7.1, and tiny changes to code I don't really care how do you use modifications I made, but because original plugin is licensed under GPLv3 this plugin is also licensed under GNU General Public License (GPL) v3 OptiPNG plugin.ZIP
  5. Moderators Note: This application is incompatible with paint.net v4. See the 'ZIP Archive' FileType Plugin for an alternative. https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/31996-zip-archive-filetype-plugin-zip/ This standalone executable saves each layer in a PDN file as a separate file. IMPORTANT: Unlike most plugins, you should not put this in Paint.NET's effects or filetypes folder. Just put it anywhere and open it by double-clicking. You still need to have a Paint.NET installation, though. Download Compiled EXE: Layer Saver.zip Source Code: License: GNU General Public License (GPL) v3 Source Code.zip
  6. MODERATORS NOTE: this plugin has been superseded by a newer version: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/31574-radius-corners-v15-sept-10-2016/ I did not see any plugins for rounding the corners of an image (like below), so I decided to create one. The effect DLL is attached to this post. The plugin requires the .NET framework 3.5, so you will have to install it, if you do not already have it. The source code, and additional information is available here: http://dan9298.blogs...r-rounding.html. RadiusFillCorners.zip

  8. MODERATORS NOTE: null54 has rebuilt this plugin pack for paint.net v4; use that pack instead. https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/28801-tolis-effects-for-v40/ I decided to make a separate post about all my effects and make some changes in order to be able to easily maintain them. The effects are: 1. Mirror/Rotate 2. Mirror / Rotate Menu 3. Engrave/Emboss 4. Smooth The links are for you to read the discussion about these effects, if you are interested. However, you cannot download the effects from there any more. The only place from where you can download the effects is from below: ToliEffects_v202.zip The zip file contains: 1. IniFile.dll This is a common required library, used by all my effects, which must be copied in the Effects folder if you want to use any or all the effects. This library provides to my effects localization support (the effect in your language) and the ability to "remember" on-screen position and the options you selected. Effect programmers, feel free to use IniFile.dll (ask me for technical support). Just don't credit yourselves for coding it. 2. MirrorRotate.dll The Mirror / Rotate Effect 3. MirrorRotateMenu.dll All 4 mirrors and 3 rotates from the previous plugin, now as MenuItems in a Mirror / Rotate Submenu You should install either MirrorRotate.dll or MirrorRotateMenu.dll 4. EngraveEmboss.dll The Engrave / Emboss Effect MODERATORS NOTE: This effect is incompatible with Paint.NET 4.0x 5. Smooth.dll The Smooth Effect 6. MirrorRotate.ini 7. MirrorRotateMenu.ini 8. EngraveEmboss.ini 9. Smooth.ini Language Ini Files used by my effects for localization. You should copy them along with the corresponding effects to the Effects folder. (this folder should usually be: "C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects", without the quotes) 10. License.txt GNU Public License If someone would like a Setup (an Installer for the plugins), here it is: ToliEffectsSetup_v202.zip And this zip file contains the C# sources. It is for effect programmers only. ToliEffectsSource_v202.zip Enjoy! Toli Cuturicu

  11. Moderator Note: This plugin is incompatible with the latest versions of paint.net (beyond 4.0.10). Hey guys! Decided to try my hand at one of these here plugins. Sorry if I'm newbing it all up. This is similar to other "green screen" plugins, but it uses the secondary color and allows you to configure tolerances. Mainly what I was after in this plugin was the ability to control the "softness" of the effect which you can configure using the "Alpha Falloff" setting. The Dwarf Horde Rob Tauler (TechnoRobbo) - Code Lead, Design John Robbins (Red Ochre) - Graphics Lead, Design Scott Stringer (Ego Eram Reputo) - Documentation Lead, Design David Issel (BoltBait) - Beta Testing, Design Foreword The ShapeMaker plugin is a tool which facilitates the creation of SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) Shapes, Lines and Curves. The tool itself uses a WYSIWYG interface where Lines, Curves and entire Paths can be created and manipulated using just the mouse. Knowledge of the complex SVG structure is not required. ShapeMaker will create all that complex stuff for you and generate the Shape, code, or a complete reusable file. Why did we write this plugin? We wanted to create an easy-to-use click-and-drag interface which could create custom Shapes that paint.net itself could reuse via the new Shapes tool. That's right. Paint.net 4.0.6+ allows the user to add their own Shapes to the Shapes tool set. Not only can ShapeMaker Shapes be reused, the valid SVG generated can be pasted into HTML documents for modern browsers to render. We hope you like ShapeMaker! 13. MODERATORS NOTE: this plugin has been superseded by a newer version: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/110458-the-plugin-browser-v1211-june-30-2018/ The Plugin Browser by The Dwarf Horde Rob Tauler, John Robbins, David Issel & Scott Stringer aka TechnoRobbo, Red Ochre, BoltBait and Ego Eram Reputo Version 1.0.4.+ The Plugin Browser plugin was designed to make plugins easier to locate and identify, especially when a large collection of plugins is installed. The Plugin Browser plugin does this by allowing the User to search alphabetically by plugin name, keyword(s), author or menu location. Included in these searches are the Plugin Title and Description. Once you find a plugin, you can run it right from inside of the Plugin Browser. Plugin Browser plugin gives the User the ability to Bookmark their favorite plugins and add their comments to bookmarked plugins so they can identify it and make notes about its use. As well as being a search tool, the Plugin Browser is capable of displaying an embedded image which we call the Preview Image. The idea of the Preview Image is to give the User a visual clue to the plugin’s function. In most cases the Preview Image will be an example of the effect or adjustment. The Plugin Browser will also suggest plugins that you don't have but may want to download. Once a month the Plugin Browser connects to the paint.net forum and downloads a copy of the Plugin Index. This file is used to match keyword searches against plugins by parsing the plugin descriptions from the Index. You will receive a prompt before the download goes ahead. 14. MODERATORS NOTE: this plugin has been superseded by a newer version; available in BoltBait's pack: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/32048-boltbaits-plugin-pack-for-pdn-v406-updated-aug-16-2017/ Due to the other Plugin's link being dead, BoltBait and I made a quick solution for Flipping a selection. This is unlike PdN's flip whereas it flips the whole image and crops to the selection, and this actually flips the selection. DLL: FlipPlugin.dll Source: FlipPluginSRC.zip
  15. MODERATORS NOTE: This effect is incompatible with Paint.NET 4.x. Please use 'Fill From Clipboard' as an alternative. https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/113220-boltbaits-plugin-pack-for-pdn-v41-and-beyond-updated-september-22-2018/ This addin fills the current image with a tiled version of another image. Just copy an image to the clipboard, create a new image that is larger than the first, and run the addin. For example, start with something like this: And the tiled version could look like this: It can be useful for creating textures, or patterned backgrounds. The addin is attached to this post, and the source code is available here: http://dan9298.blogspot.com/2008/11/tile-fill-addin.html TileFillFromClipboard.zip
  16. Moderators Note: @toe_head2001 has recompiled this plugin to work under PDN 4. You can find the new version here: Point Warp / Engorged Smudge for PDN 4 This plugin applies a `point warp' at a given location on the image. It's basically bulge [ :Bulge: ] but in the horizontal plane instead of the vertical. The UI (v1.1) - I'm not truly sure of the uses for it, but it's interesting at best what can be done with it. Completely based on the Gaussian function and nothing more or less. Made with the v3.20 UI. DLL and source (both ZIP'd) attached. Edit: After figuring out what I actually meant when I wrote the base of this code back in April, I made some small modifications to the UI and code that should look and work with more intuitivity. 18. Moderators Note: Support for 32-Bit (with alpha) Bitmaps has been built into Paint.NET since v4.2. If you want to edit .MSSTYLES or another DLL or ressources files (to make new skin/style for Windows XP or another application that use 32bpp bitmaps), you will probably see that a great amount of images the windows's skins are using are 32bits-bitmaps. And when you open these bitmaps on almost all applications, the alpha chanel is dropped due to the non-support of this sort of BMP in Windows Bitmap Loading API (for win 3.1 / win 95 historical reasons). Paint.NET doesn't escape from the rule and load/save bitmaps as they were in 24bpp. This plugin allow you to open and save file in 32-bit bitmap. The only thing you must do is to rename it to *.bmpx (to avoid conflit with the existing PDN's BMP handler). If you try to open non-BMP files, you should receive an error (rem: 24bpp bitmaps are loaded correcty too). This plugin is perfectible and I'll publish updates if you find bugs/things to change. Changelog [2.6 <== 1.xx] : - Application optimised - Fixed a problem of 1px translation on Windows - Support now all bitmaps (and not only 32bpp) Moderators Note: Find the a new version of this plugin here: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/11201-alpha-32bits-bitmap-support-for-paintnet/?do=findComment&comment=308033 BMP32 Paint.NET FileType.zip SourceCode.zip

  20. Well its not spectacular but it gets the job done. This plug-in produces a gradient fill between your current primary and secondary colors. It uses the overall selected rectangle as the distance for the gradient fills. It supports 5 basic types of gradient fills: Vertical, Horizontal, Radial (from center of rect out), Diagonal and Reverse-Diagonal. If you want the fill to go the other way you reverse the colors. Also it has a special ability to use a mask color. This color will be the only area where the gradient fill will occur within the selected region. I did this after running into lots of math problems with weird regions, if you want to see the weird region problems create a very irregular selection and try some of the fills. Attached is the link to a zip file. Unzip it and put the single DLL that is inside this zip file in your Effects folder and then launch the paint.net app. It should appear on your effects menu as a new effect. btw. This was built with paint.net v2.63 and if you want source let me know here. 23. From BoltBait's idea and Illnab's apparently limitless time, we bring you yet another awesome effect plug-in: Google Image Search Plugin GoogleImageSearchEffect.zip (Render > Google Image Search...) This plugin allows you to use Google Image Search directly in Paint.NET and avoid the hassle that is copying and pasting, or in some cases with Mozilla especially saving to file and importing to a layer (i.e., transparency). Type a search term in the search box (top right), hit Enter or press Search, and double click the image of your choice to render it on to the current layer. Make sure before using the effect to create a new empty layer. Change log: Version 1.1 -- [*:13lyrh5c]Fixed threading issues. [*:13lyrh5c]Fixed the numeric up/down control. [*:13lyrh5c]Added automatic resizing if the image selected is larger than the selection. [*:13lyrh5c]Added tooltips with URL and image type. You can read all about HD Photo here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HD_Photo NOTE: This is a BETA release. Eventually it will be built-in to Paint.NET though. Edit: This is no longer the plan. Installation Instructions: 1) Copy HDPhoto.dll to C:/Program Files/Paint.NET/FileTypes 2) Restart Paint.NET (if it was already started) If you installed to a place other than "C:/Program Files/Paint.NET" then substitute the appropriate directory name. Download: http://www.getpaint....HDPhoto.0.4.zip Change Log: v0.1, April 5th -- Initial release. Expires on June 1st, 2007. v0.2, April 28th 2007 -- Added ability to open images that are not 32-bit BGRA. Also added ability to save in 24-bit format. This version now expires on July 1st, 2007. v0.2 (again), June 16th, 2007 -- Recompiled and re-uploaded. Expiration date is now September 1st, 2007, and also will expire if Paint.NET reports that it is version 3.20 or newer. July 4th -- reuploaded version that should work now. v0.3 -- September 8th, 2007 -- Recompiled and re-uploaded. Removed date-based expiration in favor of version-based expiration. This plugin will cease working if Paint.NET is upgraded to version 3.20 or newer (which doesn't exist yet -- the plan is simply to have the plugin integrated by then). v0.4 -- December 14th, 2007 -- New release that works w/ Paint.NET v3.20. Version expiration now set so that it won't expire until Paint.NET v4.0.
