  1. Move Selection is not required - the technique works when you're actually casting the selection i.e. the Rectangle Select tool (or any other shape selection tool) is active.
  2. The plugin BoltBait mentioned is part of his plugin pack. Find it using the link in his signature. For help installing plugins, read this awesome guide (also by BoltBait) https://boltbait.com/pdn/InstallingEffects.php
  3. And so it should! Actually I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip.
  4. ^ this. 100% correct. The forum search tool is....not great The custom search searches all the online resources related to paint.net. The blog, website, help files and forum.
  5. Align Object requires your 'object' to be surrounded by transparent pixels. All of the 'object' plugins work in this way. If you put a filled shape on a transparent layer align object will align it for you as expected. Running the plugin on a layer filled with pixels doesn't give it any room to move the opaque pixels. Imagine the transparent pixels are the free space you can move the object around in.
  6. The dot is an involuntary click point. Its most likely a tiny selection. If it bothers you change the default tool in the Settings > Tools dialog. The Color Picker tool doesn't render anything to the canvas, so that might be an option.
  7. Really? It works for me.... 1. Start dragging out a rectangular selection (fixed ratio or Normal). 2. Keep the first mouse button down and then also hold down the second mouse button. 3. With both buttons held down, drag the selection shape around the canvas. 4. While both buttons are down, the arrow keys move the selection around on a per pixel basis.
  8. It started out as my own reference tool. It's grown over time, but is still far from ready for a public release.
  9. When casting a selection hold down the second mouse button (yep - both of them). Now you can drag the selection around. Release the second button to go back to normal selection casting. It may be that the arrow keys will move the selection when both buttons are down (I'm not at my PC and can't check right now).
  10. MJW some of the Dwarves collaborated on such a guide. I will send you a PM and a link.
  11. Gradientplugin and Engrave/Emboss removed from the list. Thanks to ReMake for the corrections.
  12. Note the red advisory at the top of the first post. Alivate Batch Processor is incompatible with pdn4.
  13. Fabulous looking plugin! I have some Scottish ancestry. Reproducing my clan tartan would be cool - except that I'd have to re-enter it each time. How about an option to load & save patterns?
  14. Hi Mark! Check out the Plugin Index. There's a link in my signature. Look up Grid Maker. You'll want the latest one by BoltBait.
  15. Yes. Though these are not likely to receive the same status as an original tutorial. Posting a link would take care of the "credit" issue as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure YouTube has guidelines dealing with this. Should be family friendly to be linked here
  16. IS NOT! Its real *choke* *cough* *splutter* Wha...?? Oh, deary deary me. Ruy Lopez was in fact a 16th-century Spanish monk. I trotted out this very fact last Tuesday evening at my chess club.
  17. ^ this +1 Always get your plugins from this forum. Never anywhere else. I hope your system is Ok cubsterky. Please do take what null54 said seriously. A virus scan with a good scanner should be a priority right about now.
  18. Not once the paint.net session is closed. If it's still open the steps will be shown in the History window and the plugins will retain their last setting(s). If you have the pdn file with the layers intact - you could zip it and upload it (so long as it's family friendly). Some of the smart cookies here might give you their best guess.
  19. There are six selection modes in the tool bar. Five of these allow you to combine consecutive selections in different ways (add, subtract, invert, intersect, xor). See http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/ShapeSelectionTools.html for examples on how each mode works and http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/MagicWand.html for an example of selection building using the magic wand. Tip: you can use the magic wand and the shape selection tools in combination to create complex selections.
  20. BoltBait does an excellent job of explaining how to use CodeLab in a series of tutorials. Wander over to his website and have a look. I can recommend this tutorial http://boltbait.com/pdn/codelab/help/tutorial2.asp
  21. Hi 9Edits, welcome to the forum Once you have the selection copied, activate each layer in turn (click on it in the Layers Window), pressing Ctrl + V to paste the copied selection into each layer. Or, copy the selection into a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + V) then duplicate the layer as many times as needed.
  22. That's a very nice effect xmario. Thank you for posting it.
  23. We have little control over how plugin authors use additional supporting files. Where they are used (its reasonably rare) we expect the author to make it clear where the files should be located. Where it is not clear, mention it in the plugin thread and ask the author to spell it out.
