Too many tuts are getting locked...
ncfan51 replied to RyuinfinityPDN's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
No, it hasn't. I agree partially with Ryu. I disagree with the example Ryu gave, as it was too similar. Some, tutorials are considered "too simple". I doubt the average new user knew how to do that. I sure didn't in my first week. I feel that "too simple" is very opinion based--not everything has to be hard and confusing. And different versions shouldn't be locked either. New ways to do things should be appreciated. Some are locked apparently because...they don't look good to some people...? It always puzzled me why that one was locked. Also, I feel the following were unjustly locked: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23750 (a different method) viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23558 (Apparently this was locked for no reason...except that it was an image? :? ) viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23318 viewtopic.php?f=15&t=23256 (just because it has been done before, doesn't mean it's not helpful!) viewtopic.php?f=15&t=21572 (Locked...because someone necroposted?) Sorry, it doesn't come out like that. This I don't understand; many people lurk for several months, and when they join, they can be just as much experienced as any other poster. True, stereotypically first post tutorials aren't that good, but you can't say that universally. All I'm saying is, the second to last quote should be upheld; currently it seems everyone has forgotten. -
Thank you as to the new update. I no longer have any qualms with it.

I bow down at your feet. *quivers in excitement* EDIT: I don't like the UI...You have to basically guess, making it near impossible to do anything with the plugin. Wouldn't it be easier if you had the image on the plugins canvas? Also, both the undo and reset buttons don't work for me.

Image Umbrella: Signatures, Avatars, Logos & Text
ncfan51 replied to david.atwell's topic in The Pictorium
I made a new signature+avatar set. Any suggestions? Do you think I should add text? <-- | | v -
It's an interesting idea, but I believe it is a lot more faster and efficient to just extract the zip to C:\Program Files\Paint.NET\Effects. I see, however, why you think that this could help new users to the program. Wouldn't it be a lot easier to teach new users how to extract DLL's to the aforementioned folder? It is *almost* like the adage Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. I love your idea of a preview image, though. That would be useful to new users and experienced users alike.

If you want a nice logo, a SVG is the way to go, as you can zoom in infinitely.

Problems With Paint.NET version 3.30

Download the new Ed Harvey pack updated for 3.30. -
I can't think of anything wrong with the signature. In my opinion, the avatar should use a lighter shade of gray to match the signature, and perhaps a different font (Futura? Maybe Univers would work nice too...) rather than Arial (?)**. **Not 100% sure if that is Arial though.

Just a screenshot of the interface would be nice.

Meh, I was too lazy to type something into a text box, I like the color wheel better, but I have to admit it was handy to write hex codes in...

The 2nd Best thing I've ever made with Polar Inversion. I used Gradient Mapping (Thanks Pyrochild!), Weave, Polar Inversion, Jitter and Frosted Glass, I think.
