Illnab1024 Posted June 30, 2006 Share Posted June 30, 2006 Well, I have finally replaced my Desktop background. I changed from CMD's Sonic wallpaper to my own 30 minute concoction. The recessed orb idea I stole from CMD, yet the orb was my own doing, a combination of ten radial gradients, specifically placed for a miniature specular type glass thing. I do it similar to how I was taught by the wonderful and talented aatwo to soften the edges of cut-out people. I didn't actually type the text, though. It was cut out from a screenshot of their site. But the basic steps were: I removed the background color from the text layer, duplicated the layer, raised the brightness and contrast completely to turn it all white, dropped it back behind the original text, blurred it, and duplicated the blurred layer. Then you can always save the image as a PDN, open a new PDN window and Layers -> Import from File the blurred layers from the first image, flatten them, and Effects -> Sharpen to make the outline more solid.
