  1. texsr, If you don't already have it, I suggest installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (the SP1 is important) prior to installing Paint.NET. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 download: http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... etfx35.exe
  2. indusarts, Be sure that you don't have a selection active and are trying to apply the text outside of the selected area.
  3. rdo, Try this: Open your .psd in GIMP. Save as a different filename with GIMP filetype ( .xcf extension ). Re-open the new .xcf file and Save as .psd. This has helped previously to make .psd files more usable in Paint.NET.
  4. arungolas, What is the file name/number in - Program Files/Paint.NET/Staging ?
  5. This is a regression (or a change, anyway) from v.3.36. In v.3.36 only the active work layer is ever highlighted. In current v.3.5.2, an additional layer highlights with mouse-cursor hover.
  6. ferg1973, Try doing a Repair on the Microsoft .NET Framework (in Programs and Features). If that doesn't work, then uninstall, reboot, then install the Microsoft .NET Framework.
  7. LibbyH, I see from the other thread that you got things working. Good news.
  8. mishale, Use Google Image search with keywords - Kangaroo Public Domain Example: http://www.wpclipart.com/animals/K/kang ... aroo_T.png
  9. LibbyH, I suggest that you post about this in the Plugin Installation thread: HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS Look in Utilities in the top menu of Paint.NET. See if there are any plugin load error reports. It would be helpful if you can post some screenshots. One showing the contents of your Paint.NET/Effects folder, with the full path showing in the Windows Explorer window. Another showing the Paint.NET Effects menu expanded. Another showing any plugin error reports. Post the screenshots here: HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS
  10. odeho19, No worries. For blurring the mask edges, in the top menu: Effects > Blurs > Gaussian Blur. You will need to step the blur radius number up quite a bit from the default setting. A good reference to help figure things out in Paint.NET is, the online Help file: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/EffectsBlursMenu.html This can be accessed from Paint.NET by pressing the F1 key. ====================== Open the image in Paint.NET. Make a duplicate layer. Layers Window Increase the Canvas Size to 150%, Anchored in the Middle. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/ImageMenu.html Delete the bottom layer. Layers Window The image should now be in the middle of the otherwise transparent layer( gray and white checkerboard around it). Make a new (transparent) layer, and create the black mask. Use the Ellipse Selection tool while holding the Shift key down. Press Ctrl i - to invert the selection. Use the Paintbucket tool near the canvas edge. Press Ctrl D - to deselect. Blur heavily. Copy the Mask Layer to the Clipboard: Ctrl A Ctrl C In the Layers window, remove the checkmark from the Mask Layer to make it not visible. Apply the Alpha Mask effect to the rose image. Make a rectangular selection around the image and crop to selection. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/ImageMenu.html Flatten image and SaveAs... 11. odeho19, Using the Alpha Mask plugin will insure a total fadeout to transparency at the edges. Make the mask the size and shape you want and blur it. Copy the Mask Layer to the Clipboard: Ctrl A Ctrl C In the Layers window, remove the checkmark from the Mask Layer to make it not visible. Apply the Alpha Mask effect to the rose image. ============= Alpha Mask Import plugin:
  12. Tippitoe, Can you upload one of the files, as suggested here: Also, do you have the current version of Paint.NET installed (v3.5.2) ?
  13. Here you go: http://www.mediafire.com/?ywolygoyoim The file was saved with a .png extension, but hadn't been flattened before saving.
  14. sharonharvey, If your laptop has an "fn" key, try: fn+Alt+0169
  15. Swordyfish, This links to a thread that covers common uninstall and re-install problems: Download link: http://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html Windows should open a zipfile simply by left-clicking. When you post again, pls. say what OS version (XP, Vista, etc) you are using, what OS Service Pack level you have installed, and whether you are fully current on Windows Updates. Also, do you have the Microsoft .NET Framework SP 1 installed?
  16. bollotti, After making the rectangular selection , don't use the Magic Wand.
  17. csm725, The Quad reshape matte plugin linked to in the tutorial is now outdated and superseded by the DLL found here:

  19. So, the workaround would be to duplicate the layer, apply an effect to the upper duped layer, reduce its opacity in Layer Properties, and merge layers.
  20. momsi, You could try this renaming strategy, renaming the .msi file in your Paint.NET/Staging folder to "PaintDotNet_1997310766.msi" .
  21. This has been discussed previously. viewtopic.php?p=313272#p313272
