  1. Copy/Paste the .dll into your Program Files/Paint.NET/Effects folder. =================================================== If you use the Alpha Mask to soften the edges you won't need to feather. On the left side near the top or bottom of this page click on the Board Index link. Follow links to the Plugin section. Boltbait's plugin pack is stickyed on the first page of the plugin forum. It contains the Feather plugin, which is well worth having.
  2. wisdombegun, Duplicate the layer before resizing the canvas, then delete the bottom layer after canvas resize.
  3. ajfoucault, Here's a collage tutorial link: Polaroid Collage
  4. Carver, If you want a lot of softening on the edges, you could adapt this: Do it on each picture separately, while it's still on its own layer, after resizing down to be a good fit in the collage. If you want only to reduce jagged appearance on the edges, then Boltbait's Feather plugin or dpy's AA's_Assistant plugin would be a good choice. Also, applied while still on its own layer and after resizing down.
  5. Cool. Yeah, it looks like maybe the elliptical selection was still in effect at some point when it should have been deselected. Still, a nice result.
  6. To identify the font, upload an image of it here: http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/
  7. BadlandsRacer, When you say it fades to white, some possibilities come to mind- Be sure Mix Alpha is checked. Save as PNG, not JPG. Be sure that the white default background has been deleted before starting. If you work on the image you want to have fade-edged on its own layer above the background layer all should be good. Once it looks right and is positioned correctly, it can be merged down onto the background and saved. If none of this helps, maybe you could post some links to screenshots. Just upload them to ImageShack and copy/paste the Direct Links. http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/
  8. Carver, When you add pictures, use Layers > Import from File... The "handles" will be evident then because doing this also activates the Move Selected Pixels tool. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/MoveTools.html Here's a tutorial link: Polaroid Collage http://searchpaint.net
  9. DK115, To identify the font, upload an image of it here: http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/
  10. Badger64, Try a Google Image search using "football shirt template" as search terms. Once you find something that looks right, you can make any changes you want in Paint.NET.
  11. yenz, Go ahead and upload the screenshots to ImageShack and post the direct links.
  12. f3llony, Paint.NET was updated to a new version on Feb. 26. Perhaps the new version will install for you. http://www.getpaint.net/download.html
  13. BadlandsRacer, The melting away to transparency at the edges can be done by adapting what's described here:
  14. If the original image was compressed at a higher level than what your 90% quality save gives, it could explain why the file size is bigger.
  15. blackpenny, The Alpha Mask Import plugin has been updated and no longer works exactly as described in "Method 2". Updated directions would be: Duplicate your layer, use Edge detect run at 90.00. Next: On your keyboard- Ctrl A Ctrl C Ctrl D Use alpha mask with default settings, with checkmark in "Paste from Clipboard". Guassian blur :GaussianBlur: and flatten :Flatten:! ========================================== You should have something like this as top layer when finished. http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/3069 ... player.png
  16. pipp92, Try running PdnRepair: Program Files/Paint.NET/PdnRepair.exe Then reboot your PC. Hope this helps.
  17. It works just as Simon has said on my Vista PC. So, open the Tools drop-down menu, press PrintScrn, close the Tools menu, and > Ctrl V. I like using the Gadwin software because after making a screenshot, I can press Enter twice, and it will autosave and autoname.
  18. ItsBob, I generally use Gadwin PrintScreen (freeware version) for screen captures. It can be configured for delayed capture, so if you trigger the screen capture and immediately open the menu it will catch the open menu. Even though that works, the image above was just copied from the Help file. (I have some non-standard icons, so my screenshot wouldn't make a good reference piece) ========================================= Just as an additional comment on PDN screenshots, if you find that the Tools/History/Layers/Colors windows don't show up in screenshots, be sure that the windows aren't set to Translucent.
  19. indusarts, Can you post a link to the image so we can have a look at it?
  20. loopylupine, It's best to blot out the text and get a good result on curving the fish image by whatever means. Do the text as a separate process. There are only about 50 letters, so even if you put each letter on its own transparent layer and positioned them by hand, it shouldn't take long. You'd get the very best appearance that way. Any time you bend an image of text, distortion will occur. Do you have the font? It looks like some variety of Caslon Antique.
  21. cadia95, On the layer that has been checkerboard-filled using the Paintbucket tool, Magic Wand the white while holding down the Shift key. Press the Delete key. Looking forward to seeing your finished work.
  22. flyingchicken, Using: Layers > Rotate / Zoom Set X Pan to 1.000 Place a checkmark at Preserve background. Now the left and right edges will be a match with each other. The seam will be in the middle of the canvas, it will need to be edited so that it blends well.
  23. If by this you mean that the selection is not eliminated by switching to another tool, then this is normal. It's always been that way. It has to be, otherwise we'd be unable to use other tools within a selection. On my PDNv3.5.4 install, the Deselect icon and Ctrl D still work to eliminate the selection.
  24. Janet712, Try this - Put the zip that you downloaded, and the installation file that you extracted into the Trash Can. (Don't empty it yet.) Clear your browsers cache. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sour ... 0&aql=&oq= Download from the link that you used before. Download to the default location - Desktop or Downloads folder typically. Don't extract the zip. Open it by left-clicking, then copy/paste the installation file to Desktop. Quietly invoke the Deity, (Optional), then run the install file. Report back with results. Good luck !
  25. xAliceJae, In terms of the two separate layers shown this will get you close: For the lighter colored layer, make your text in red. Duplicate the layer. Recolor the top layer white, and blur it. Merge the two layers. For the darker colored layer, again duplicate a red text layer. Recolor the bottom layer black. Blur the red top layer. Merge layers. ================================ I used a somewhat more elaborate method to make this: (Close but not spot-on)
