  1. None at all I'm afraid Edma. You have posted here, so I know you have a computer/phone/tablet The screen is the format I have exclusively created this ebook for. Amazon have a large number of Kindle applications which can be downloaded free (look for a link previously posted in this thread). Any of these will show my book the way I intended it to be seen.
  2. Thanks Midora! When are you going to release this tool officially?
  3. Looks like a problem with the file itself - despite your confidence that it is not corrupted. Please do upload the file so others can verify it either has a problem or is sound.
  4. March Update There are no new plugins this month, but there are dozens of new entries in the Plugin Index. I've been unpacking some of the Plugin Packs and listing all the individual effects. I'm around 60% complete so this month is only a partial update. What is new is the formatting of the Plugin Index! Alphabetical plugin listings These listings now span four posts to house all the new information. The new information supplied is: Type of effect, Release Date, Status, DLL Name and Menu location. Type of effect: Effect, Adjustment, Filetype, External Resource & Plugin Pack. Effect Status: Active - still working or still in development. Depreciated - may still work but a newer version or technique has largely replaced this plugin. Obsolete - Either does not work, has been completely replaced or is unavailable for download. In other words don't attempt to download this plugin. Unsupported - Author is no longer developing this plugin. It may still work, but don't bother crying if it doesn't. Built In - Plugin is part of Paint.NET itself. Listings by author These listings have been reduced in size so they fit in two posts. No new information is supplied with these listings. PDF, Epub & Kindle versions These files is unchanged in format. The update is a work in progress and these electronic files will eventually carry all the new information listed above. Oh and thanks to Pyrochild we have a new Donate button - where you can specify the size of your donation and change the currency too!
  5. If the width is the critically important dimension - why not avoid the resize and instead move the right hand column closer to the text? It seems you have the space. Another option occurs from your screenshots. The resized image is a lot lighter. Why not darken it? Adjustments > Brightness & Contrast or Duplicate the layer. Select the top layer and change the blend mode to Multiply (Press F4 to find the blend mode options).
  6. @dinodon: the easiest way to do this is to open your image first. Next, add a new layer with the template on it. To do this go to Layers menu > Import from file. Browse and select the template file. Once opened, the image may have been resized to the largest image size. Resize your image layer using the Ctrl+A (select all) and Move tool (press M on the keyboard). Using this tool you should be able to position and size your image layer under the template layer.
  7. It's not. Therefore... <Moved to Paint.NET Discussion & Questions>
  8. Welcome Manuela! I'm glad you took my advice and told the Paint.NET community about your book. I would love to see an English translation & urge you to consider it if funding allows.
  9. Looks like you need to write a tool interface like Smudge or Liquify. Possible, but very difficult compared to 'standard' plugins.
  10. Try this thread: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/24767-pixelbender-an-abode-plug-in
  11. Try using the CellMaker plugin. I wrote the original version with this sort of problem in mind. One of the options is to render the grid using line segments that don't meet at the corners - this option is ideal for removing the "walls" between cells.
  12. If you can upload an example and post the link here we might be able to offer more suggestions.
  13. This partial listing is from the Author list - so I can check the formatting. I didn't bother sorting the list alphabetically first. I do like Verdana, but the 14px font looks too large and the 12px too small (both the above examples use 12px). I think the Arial is more readable at that size, and it's the default - so I don't have to massage the text, just paste it in. Font size is important because the lists are going to be roughly twice as long as they used to be due to all the extra info. I've passed the 50% updated mark and we now have over 520 individual effects! I'll be lucky to make the 60% mark for the next edition of the Index (end of this week).
  14. ^^ I like the spacing of the bottom version (Verdana), but prefer the Arial font (top). *sigh* I'm just going to stick with Arial for now.

  16. I'm confused. Are you looking for a 12x12 pixel grid with a 1px border? Or something else? A sample picture might be helpful...
  17. @TheChildCody: In English please. See Forum rule #22, which can be found here: Forum Rules
  18. Download and install this font: http://www.dafont.com/outline-pixel-7.font Then use that font to type in your text. To save yourself PAIN, type each piece of text on it's own layer and change the layer name (activate the layer & press F4) to describe the text and font size you used. For example, I might have a layer named "Flux Capacitor: Outline-pixel-7, 18px bold, #987652". This tells me the text is Flux Capacitor. The font is the new one which is rendered at 18px in size and with Bold turned on. The final bit is the color used for the text.
  19. JPGs are smaller in file size, but lose quality as a consequence. If this is acceptable use JPG otherwise PNG or Optimized PNG. WebP is supposed to be better than JPG at compression and the format is quite well supported by browsers and such. We have a PDN filetype plugin which extends support to the format so it would be worth a try.
  20. Use PDN for works that may need to be edited or are incomplete. Always save a backup in this format as it preserves the layer structure. Use PNG for just about everything else EXCEPT: 1. If sending images via email or placing them on a website: For photos use JPG, use Optimized PNG for created works. 2. Use GIF for simple animations. Note: Google's WebP format is a challenger format for 1.
  21. As 'noob has said. A new canvas will automatically be created the size of a clipboard image (if there is one). If no image is held in the clipboard, or if opening Paint.NET without a source image, the default canvas size will be applied. If you are pasting an image into a previously opened canvas you will get one of two things happening: 1. The image is smaller than the canvas or exactly the same size. The image will be pasted into the top left corner of the canvas. If the pasted image is smaller there will be portions of the canvas unused. Press Ctrl + Shift + X immediately following the pasting operation to crop the unused portion off. 2. The image is larger than the canvas. You will be promoted to resize the canvas or keep it the same size. Choose Resize to make it large enough to hold the entire pasted image
  22. Layer masking no. Plugins can only access one layer (the active one). Importing the mask to the clipboard or saving it as an external file means you can use this plugin: Alpha Mask Import
