  1. Hey Chloe - welcome! This thread is over a year old. Appreciate your clarification, but we let old posts rest in peace on this forum. If you have a comment to make on the topic, please just start a new thread. Thanks
  2. For the reason that text is not editable once committed to the canvas, we recommend you place your text on it's own layer. If the text needs to be edited, the layer can be erased and the text retyped.
  3. I like rainbow abstracts - they are a little part of me - that's why I used one as part of the Color Explosion comp. Seriously, this is meant to be a fun competition. I had fun throwing together an entry this time when I don't usually have enough time. You are free to submit an entry of your liking...
  4. Nice answer Red. Except I think "Move" is a little misleading in step 5. 5.Move to Activate (or open) your new image and click Edit/paste into new layer.
  5. Forum Rule #29 is plain enough. I'll convert your images to text links. You can convert them back to images once you have resized them or you can post thumbnail links.
  6. Flatten your image with the keyboard combination Ctrl + Shift + F For fisheye effects, try Effects > Distort > Bulge
  7. Hi mackers. Welcome! To get you started, have a read through the suggestions in this thread: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/26065-realistic-frames/
  8. Thanks guys! @BoltBait: If only we could turn page views into cash. We could retire early
  9. That's what he's going to get. It's a natural result from increasing the number of pixels which comprise an image.
  10. You can't unless the message was hidden with something like steganography (Wiki this) and you know exactly which editor and method was used to encode the message. <Moved to Paint.NET Discussion & Questions>
  11. Well done on your first competition DrewDale. Congratulations to Minners, nitenurse, sasha and blackpenny and of course all who entered.
  12. Like the lettering effect a great deal Kero!
  13. @barbieq25: True Blur is part of Ed Harvey's plugin pack http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/18811- This is exactly the reason I'm unpacking the plugin packs to list every individual effect In other news, the Plugin Index now has more than ONE MILLION PAGE VIEWS! You guys are great - I couldn't have done it without you.
  14. Drag your gradient control nub right off the canvas (it will still work just like normal). This is how you expand or contract the vignette. Shifting the starting point control nub is how you shift the vignette focus. TIP: Once the gradient is committed to the canvas, it is not able to be shifted via the control nubs.
  15. Hi glasslobster - welcome to the forum! This is how I do a black vignette (there are plugins - but the gradient tool will do the job perfectly) 1. Open your image 2. Expand the Colors Window. Set the Primary color to White with a transparent value of zero. Make the Secondary Color Black. 3. Create a new layer :AddNewLayer: 4. Activate the Gradient tool Choose the Radial option from the Tool Bar. 5. Click on the starting point (i.e the clearest part of the image) and drag outwards. The result is a black vignette whose centre point and size you can configure.
  16. "I have FOUR questions" Seriously, there is no easy way as you have spotted. I like to encourage one question per post. Additional discussions get moved to another thread if they become long. In this case I think inserting the first question in the title would have worked: "Fill Pattern colors & other questions." However I'm not going to play the Rule Ogre on this one
  17. Yes. From your image it looks like you want a hard edge to the circle. Stick with the previous technique. I think you have made quite a good job of it.
  18. Reckon it's a shame more Aussies don't listen to more Kiwis!
  19. In this case it would probably be easier to delete the background and create a new one. 1. Select the Magic Wand tool 2. In the Tool Bar, lower the Tolerance to 25% 3. Hold down the Ctrl key and make as many selections on the background as you need to almost completely cover the background (4 or 5 selections did it for me). 4. Press Delete. 5. Expand the color window and type this hex value into the Hex Value box: 6C521C 6. Select the Fill tool and fill the deleted background in. 7. Select the Wand again and reselect he background (one click will do). 8. Go to Effects > Noise > Add Noise and use these settings: 20, 0, 100.
  20. Don't uninstall. Download a fresh copy and install it normally. The installer will overwrite the existing installation automatically, saving you the trouble of removing the original version.
  21. I'm here now. Hi PortMacOnline, welcome to the forum! Either method described above will work. I would tend towards the second one myself. That is because I have the AA Assistant plugin installed. Another method is to use the 'soft eraser' trick from my book. See the Eraser Tool in Chapter 5 under Drawing Tools.
  22. Hello Selwyn - welcome to the forum. When the line tool is active you can find options for the tool in the Tool Bar (Tool Defaults is where you set the default style i.e. when Paint.NET opens that style will be selected). There are three main styles, Start Cap, line Style and End Cap. These are drop down lists where you select a style by clicking on it. Find them between the Brush Width and Fill Style. Alternatively, cycle through the styles with the comma, full stop and slash keys on your keyboard (hint: draw a line first then play with these options before committing the line to the canvas - i.e. when the control nubs are still visible).
