  1. Thanks for adding your observations koswo, but this thread is a year old my friend Let's leave it in peace <closed>
  2. Hardware acceleration makes stuff actually happen faster using different physical bits of your computer. Think of it like a road you drive on. Hardware acceleration is an extra lane going your way.
  3. I'm sorry you felt embarrassed. If you didn't understand something - you should have just said so. A single emoticon is not much of an indicator to us that you're struggling with something. We are trying to help.
  4. Minni - please start your own thread for this question. Asking these off-topic questions derails the original thread.
  5. Still take the time to ask. If there is no reply then a well attributed link shouldn't be a problem as long as you're not using the image for any commercial or profit driven enterprise.
  6. Drew is trying to help you Pedge. If you don't understand then just say so - right after thanking him for taking the time to answer you.
  7. Welcome BosqueGal. You can keep any with these extensions *.dll (plugins) *.ini (plugin configuration files) *.dlc (I think these are support files for other languages) *.pdb (program database file) *.txt (Read Me, help or palette files) Advanced Tools can go too - it was an April Fools joke from years ago. In your list - it should be safe to delete both with the extension *.1 - and any others you might find with a similar extension. If you're in doubt - download the PDF version of the Plugin Index (link in my signature). It has all the files listed for each plugin, so if a thorough search of the Index cannot find a suspect file you're reasonably safe to delete it.
  8. Distort -> Tile Image (hidden in the post where you downloaded the plugin )
  9. Because it's his software. Rick is the developer. We Moderators as volunteers who support the forum and Paint.NET by donating our time. You didn't offend me. I was pointing out that you omitted to thank Rick in any way or to say please. I consider politeness a priority. The fact that you use the software every day means you're just like us. I use Paint.NET every day. Many of us do. Some of the senior members of this forum help Rick find and resolve bugs. We do it free.
  10. VERY IMPORTANT: Gee Rick, thanks for creating such a fine program and allowing me to use it without charge. Here's a donation. NOT IMPORTANT: We want this. I want that. We want something else...
  11. That sounds like a file-read-error to me. You using a USB or some other media to store the files?
  12. Well spotted! List amended to remove Alpha Blur as my version was out-of-date.
  13. Nope. Your existing collection of plugins will persist to the new install. Do think about the advice BoltBait gave you above. You might get some. Many are helpfully caught within 4.0 and listed in a dialog. I've detailed those that are caught in the thread below ("shows under Plugin Errors" - or similar). Current list of plugins incompatible with 4.0x: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/27661-incompatible-plugins-an-incomplete-list-updated-for-405268/
  14. Ah. That's what you call it. See my answers above (#7 and #2). Also note BoltBait's reply (#5).
  15. Ok. The list is short enough that I can review and retest at short notice.
  16. With Rick pinning this thread I felt obliged to keep it up-to-date I've run through the list of incompatibles with the release of 4.0.5268. One plugin - RotateZoom+ (Effects > Distort) - is now working and has been removed. I've changed the layout of the list a little to make it a bit clearer. Incompatibles at the top, former offenders at the bottom, hidden with the version that removed them from the list. Clear as mud?
  17. No you're not. The images appear to be broken. Let's see if anyone has the desire to rebuild this tutorial. Open to offers.....
  18. Nice list! It's a great starting point. Paint Bucket has options to apply a blend mode. Color Picker has six preset sampling sizes. Recoloring Tool has two sampling options. Fast Forward and Rewind buttons have been dropped from the History Window. I'm sure there are loads more.
  19. ^^ what 'Noon said. Swap from gif to PNG. Gif is really for low color images with on/off transparency. Sounds like you need more levels of transparency. PNG gives you a whole alpha channel to access. As your image is on a website you could also consider the WebP format. If you stick with PNG save some download time by using the OptiPNG compression plugin.
  20. I have more hair than Robert Duval. Younger too. He has the better tango
