  1. Try this technique http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/28378-sand-text-how-to-write-on-sand/ Although written for writing in sand, it might give you a nice effect if applied over your woodgrain texture. Pick a font with plenty of straight lines. I'm currently in love with the font "Rat Infested Mailbox" available here http://www.dafont.com/rat-infested-mailbox.font
  2. Sounds like you have something failing. Perhaps your HDD. Try scanning it http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors
  3. TGA files do not support layers. I suspect paint.net wants you to use PDN to preserve the layer structure of your image. Flatten your image then save it by selecting the TGA extension in the drop down list in the file save dialog. Do not simply type the extension in. Why TGA?
  4. Something smilar was asked recently http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/30271-anyone-know-of-a-plugin-to-preview-sprites-while-editing-in-a-zoomed-in-workspace/ Probably the simplest solution is Ctrl + Mouse Wheel. To snap back to actual size try Ctrl + 0.
  5. Magissia was asking about the physical location of the files, not the paint.net menu location. If scrolling is an issue, I recommend either reducing the number of plugins you have installed or using the Plugin Browser to organize them via the bookmarking feature.
  6. Two links: Plugin Index Download the PDF - it details all the plugins and includes their filenames. This might help you identify them. Plugin Browser Very helpful plugin which allows you to browse, search and run plugins. Descriptions and filenames are also included. No, plugins won't work from within sub folders.
  7. Do you have Dream and Pastel in the Effects > Artistic menu? Are you using paint.net 4 and the latest version of BoltBait's plugin pack? Did you download the plugin pack from this forum?
  8. Paint.net system requirements for screens haven't changed since 3.5.x... 1024 x 768 screen resolutionI've used PDN4 on my netbook - which I think has a 1024 x 600 screen. It's usable but the Utility Windows overlap and some plugin UI's are troublesome (as you have found).
  9. After eight years?? I think not. We have this now PSFilterPDN, which is why we don't like old threads being revived. They are out-of-date! <locked>
  10. You're quite right. Perhaps our author is polishing it before final release?
  11. Nope. Sorry. Plugins are modal and not asynchronous. In non-geek speak this means that paint.net effectively stops and waits for the plugin to finish/close before continuing. This is why you can't use any of the tools or menus while a plugin dialog is open for example. How about these keyboard shortcuts: Zoom in / out Ctrl + Mouse Wheel Zoom to Window Ctrl + B View Actual Size Ctrl + 0
  12. Excellent news! I'm glad I was able to help I'm sure the developer of paint.net will be taking an interest in this. Welcome to the forum softenik
  13. That's TWO bouts of merciless tickling I owe you! Unfortunately you're out of range at present. I'll have to be patient....
  14. What? Planetoid not good enough for you?? I'm currently tinkering with a fractal terrain generator. It has potential to be AWESOME - like many other plugins around here.
  15. Nice solution Chimay. Someone should create an "Infernal Combustion Engine"
  16. There is an issue with some unzipping apps misreporting Win 7 SP1. Here's the thread: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/29359-paintnet-installer-help/#entry414064 Basically you should try to unzip the download then run the installer exe, rather than running the exe from within the zip file. Further diagnostics are listed later in the thread if that solution doesn't work.
  17. Hi Zach - welcome to the forum. The short answer is "No". Previous version are not supported here on the forum, so please don't ask for them. You might find it somewhere on the internet - try a little searching
  18. How about changing the theme from "Diablo" to something like "fantasy/spirit/ghosts"?
  19. Often requested. It even appears in the list of frequently asked questions http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/2940-popular-feature-requests/ At the moment there is no workaround. It's a limitation of the way paint.net is put together.
  20. If you find it again try right-click and rename before trying to delete it. You might have run into a problem with the .pdnbak bit being interpreted as an unknown extension.
  21. Your image is not showing up....making it very difficult to diagnose.
  22. There are also a few others under different names. Grim Color Reaper comes to mind.
  23. Try this as a starting point (it's old): http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/7984-filetype-plugin-template-v20/ Then there is this thread detailing how Zagna got an ORA filetype plugin working http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/20538-ora-attempt/ Find the full plugin here http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/20984-openraster-filetype/
