@DrewDale Just take a photo of the place with and without snow (don't move anything between shots) and fade one into the other. (sneaky, huh?)

The two images I used were taken in my front yard about a week apart. I tried to stand in the same spot, but that was done from memory and it wasn't perfect. It was, however, close enough to be convincing.

For the second shot, my daughter was standing on the left end of the teeter-totter.

Hi

Yes it is an amazing picture Bolt :-)

I used to do pictures like this few years ago.

(but they were NOT as good and "out of the thinking box" like this one! )

however I always used a stand and markings to place the

camera in the same spot every time.

p.s.

now days a friend of mine uses HD webcam with cellular network and software to take pictures

at intervals from minutes to weeks.

I must say I'm impressed with the number of replies! In fact, you could say I'm snowed under!

I'm trying the suggestions, some more suitable than others.

What I'm trying to do is to 'doctor' a still photo taken during during the summer months to make it 'winterised' or 'Christmassy' to send as a Christmas card to friends.

The BoltBait plug in won't load onto my PC (Windows Vista) as the screens are very different to those shown on the demo.

Still, "If at first you don't succeed...................."

Thank you all for your replies, they are a big help and I'm sure I'll get there.
