  1. Have a try at this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100630181358AAXSPwt
  2. Just a quick reminder ( I have a sig file too that I used at work for pre-signed Bills of Ladings templates - as an example), regardless of what you may wish to use it for, remember that a .png is higher quality than a .gif file and also supports transparency.
  3. Since your intent is to put it into a collage, you can use the .jpg. I think Rick mistunderstood. If you used a jpg, erased the white so it became transparent, and then tried to save it again as a jpg, the transparent part would turn white again. In this case however, you can get what you want. Open your background image Import your b/w image as another layer (Menus: Layers > Import from File) Click on the magic wand on the tools pane Next click on the white area (use the control key if selecting different white areas) Once all he white has been selected simply press the Delete key on your keyboard If all is well, on the layers pane, click on the button to merge the image down (or simply save it and PDN will ask if you want to flatten it - respond "Yes'
  4. If you're opening all these same files, why don't you put them into layers, unclick viewing them when not being used further and save the whole file as .pdn? By doing this you open everything at once. If you're modifying any of those layers, duplicate them first, click off the layer you don't want to change, and modify the duplicated layer. Another thing is to rename the orig layer as something like "cornfield-orig" as an example and the duplicate layer as simply "cornfield". This way you know which is the modified and which isn't. Just a suggestion EDIT: BTW, since you're incorporating them into the file you're working on, you still maintain the orig as separate files on your harddrive, because the layers are just another image in your working file (the .pdn file) - so if you wish to forego duplicating layers, you can do that too. EDIT 2: There is a drawback to using the above method if you're dealing with different size images and you resize your project - it will resize all layers (even the layers that are unchecked so you aren't viewing them).
  5. Nice. This worked great (in my opinion of course): Of course with the text still selected I applied the Bevel edges to it. Thanks EER, it's a great plugin that I wasn't aware of!
  6. Dunno, I don't know how tall the birds can be. However, if it helps your perspective a bit, the actual legs break w/the water about the point where the darker waves end and the lighter shade starts. That puts it approx mid-way between the traffic light post and the sign for the traffic light (which is normally, I believe, 100 ft distance). This puts the flamingo about 50' closer to the camera than the traffic light. All that said though, I revert back to what I originally stated, I don't know how tall they are in real life. But, I do thank you and Barbie for the compliments.
  7. I think what he's looking for is "Color Filter" which is part of the Ed Harvey Effects here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=1768
  8. Warped sense of humor? Actually, I'd like to think that they're much like a joke. They're not really anything special unless delivered correctly, and that's all I attempt to do, deliver them properly. They're not really original anyways - like the mirror vs the Scope commercials of years past. Anyways, in the next pic I thought I'd attempt to put a silver lining in an otherwise sad set of circumstances.
  9. That is such an awesome job. Such great talent!
  10. First, let us address this issue logically: You've modified several images that remain open in PDN. You've now indicated you wanted to exit paint.net. As you can see from the screenshot, PDN tells you and shows you at the moment that there are things that are open and need to be changed. When you elect to exit paint.net, that doesn't mean that you want to exit that image. It means to exit the program. At the moment you got the screen above warning you that images needed to be saved, you could have at that point pressed cancel so you wouldn't have exited and then you had the opportunity to save those which needed to be saved. EDIT: Alternatively, you could've closed those you didn't want to save changes to before you elected to exit the program (at which time PDN will ask you if you want to save it - exactly what you're looking for, a prompt to save the individual file), then when you exited, you then select to save all the remaining open files. EDIT: If this doesn't suit your issue, then consider the alternative argument that you are suggesting. That someone else tomorrow will be asking if that is really necessary and arguing that they don't want 30 prompts for 30 opened images.
  11. Maybe list the plugins that are giving you problems. Maybe they're outdated and the plugin creator hasn't been around in ions to fix it. Also, provide some info about your system, maybe you're having some resource issues. What OS are you running? How much memory do you have installed? How large is/the image(s) you are working with? Such info as requested above will give folks some insight to try to help you resolve your problem.
  12. From the rules about posting tutorials: 4. Always use search before writing tutorials, to see if it has been done before I fail to see the logic of what the posting date of a tutorial has anything to do with it. If maybe a certain plugin that is utilized is now outdated and had not been revised, then yes, I can see how the tutorial itself may be affected (but you haven't demonstrated this is the case). Otherwise, I don't see tutorials as having some sort of expiration date if it still works. Using your ideology would mean people posting tutorials all day long about the same thing until the cows come home. Do you really think creating 10, 12, 30 tutorials all reflecting the same thing is necessary and productive?
  13. Reading your post above, it sounds like someone is already helping you, but I can't see what you've been discussing and with whom you've been discussing it with. What exactly did you read and didn't work? Here's a suggestion for you (but maybe this something that you've already read and tried and didn't work): If you don't already have it, try downloading and installing CCleaner (for download, I would recommend getting it directly from the Piriform website). When you've got it installed click on the "Tools" tab on the side of the application. Highlight the program you wish to remove from the list of programs that Windows indicates is installed on your computer. Next click on the button on the right which reads, "Delete Entry". Once it's been removed from the list, try re-installing it. EDIT: There's also the added benefit of utilizing this program of cleaning your system from a build-up of old temp files and such which can cause your system to slow down.
  14. My dear friend, I neither uploaded or attempted to upload. I tried to download the file. The first time it worked for me (after the gentlemen expressed difficulty - the Trail 3d plugin), and I re-attempted to download multiple times after and they kept coming up empty. I am not the problem, the website apparently is.
  15. I didn't think you were payin' attention to that move!
  16. I think there's something going on at that site (fileden). We were having the very same problem with another plugin just a couple days ago that was hosted there as well. First it downloaded for me after someone else complained about it, then I went and tried again a couple times and got the same results you've just described. EDIT: (It was the Trail 3d plugin)
  17. Sorry, but this reply is not an attempt to solve your issue, but rather an inquiry (or two). From what I understand, the .tpf "file extension is used to refer to PCL soft font files in the HiJaak graphic editing software program". Since it is simply a font, my question is aren't the font styles themselves available elsewhere in a usable format so they won't have to be converted? If you are using the software described above, does it not have capabilities to save in various image formats so that you can use them in paint.net (like .png as an example)?
  18. Yes, it's the leg. Partof the foot is there, and part is missing. As far as the slider door is concerned, it's appearance is simply from the lighting. Nothing had been erased from that portion of the photo (it's part of the same photo of me w/the violin).
  19. I suppose from the perspective that the hands on the clock have changed from one pic to the next you could be right (or the fact that it only displays the correct time twice a day). But no, that's not what I'm referring to. It's actually "missing" a small aspect of one scene that should be in the final piece.
  20. Welcome! Bring it on!!!! ...and let's party like there's no tomorrow!!!
  21. At another's recommendation (these are also posted in my gallery): http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/CantaLibra/LiesureTime.png My source pics: http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/CantaLibra/LiesureTime-a.png http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/CantaLibra/LiesureTime-b.png http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/CantaLibra/LiesureTime-c.png http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/CantaLibra/LiesureTime-d.png http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/CantaLibra/LiesureTime-e.png (There is one error, can you find it?) Here's another "quickie" I put together (can also be found in my gallery): http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/CantaLibra/BrushingReflection.png
  22. First, I read nothing in BoltBait's replies that is "dismissive". What BoltBait said was simply a statement of fact, and nothing more. Secondly, the overall issue of malware being bundled in the software from other sites is not news to anybody here. Given the fact that this isn't some new development, I further feel that it is unjustified to put the onus on his back to "have looked into this further". As for what Rick can/should do, is another question entirely. To what end do you think it should proceed? A cease and desist order for something anyone anywhere can disseminate? And to that point, to what cost? How many people would you venture to guess have paid the due worth of this software (I've made a contribution, but admittedly, it wasn't anywhere near what I should have)? Do you think there has been enough collected for all that this software encompasses (website, forum, development, LEGAL FEES, etc.)? At any rate, regardless of how (if ever) this will be resolved, my primary concern at this point is more about how somehow you don't agree (to put it mildly) with the manner in which BoltBait handled this. I personally think you owe him an apology - whether or not he asks for it, and simply decides to take a non-argumentative approach to it, the point is he deserves it. ...my 2 cents (for better or worst).
  23. Don't feel bad, you're not alone. I have a widescreen TV that my computer is hooked up to, and despite my sitting about 9 feet away, I have the same problem creating stars (but then again, I do need to make an appointment for June to have my eyes re-examined - lol).
  24. That must've been a web search and not using the search function here in the forums as doing so provides these (and more) simply using the keyword "macro": http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n264/CantaLibra/macrosearch.png At any rate, Rick has indicated that it doesn't have macros (in the thread "Automating Paint.net?"), and as far as I am aware he doesn't plan on providing it. That having been said, there are various (freeware) macro recorders out there for use in Windows, though I've personally have not used them, so I cannot recommend anything specifically (though Freelabs Macro Recorder seems to stand out using Bing search for "Freeware Windows Macro Recorder").
