  1. No offense, but did you try cleaning the glass on your scanner (remove it if necessary to clean both sides)?
  2. Excuse me, but shouldn't that read, "How does the color fill thing work?"
  3. As a suggestion, how about posting the image you're working with so we can better understand what you're referring to or dealing with. EDIT: Sorry EER, we must've been on the same train of thought and posted moments apart.
  4. Did you just recently upgrade (manually) to the latest version of Paint.net (3.5.10)? This link indicates what changes occured in past revisions: http://www.getpaint.net/roadmap.html Otherwise, if you've been using 3.5.10 all along, then it can't see how it can be Paint.net as updates are not automatic. As a side note, I just re-saved a file as tif and I had no problems. As a suggestion, maybe run sfc to see if system files (that may effect the viewer) are still intact.
  5. This link will give you some insight about layers: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/LayersWindow.html The short answer to your question about the text is you can't fix it. Once you've applied the text and gone onto something else, it is no longer text. It then becomes a graphic image itself (this is why you should apply the text to a separate layer - so you can delete the layer and then create a new one). Since you've pasted the image already, they are now 1 piece.
  6. Am I to understand that on a single layer you put the text, and then on that very same layer you pasted the image and you can still see the text?
  7. Make sure you've de-selected the image you pasted in by pressing "Ctrl" + "D". After which it is recommended that you create a new layer for your text. EDIT: Fixed typo
  8. Thanx, but I really didn't make much of any contribution to this.
  9. To post images here in the forums, read this: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/12193-how-to-use-images-in-your-posts-signatures-and-avatars/
  10. Nice job! If he doesn't want it, I'll take it!!!
  11. My guess would be you deleted the file extension (.png) itself when you saved it and because it now reads xxxxx instead of xxxxx.png paint.net does not recognize it. Try letting windows do a search of your computer and see if it finds it. If/when it does find it, simply add the file extension to it and you should be fine.
  12. If you right-click on the image that you've found that you wish to work with, you should get a listing (referred to as the Context Menu). One of these is to save the image (Save Picture As): The recommended place to save your downloaded images is in the directory where all your other pictures are at, but if it makes it easier for you to save to your desktop then that will be okay as well. In Paint.net go to the menus at the top of your screen and go to "Layers". You should see an option to "Import from File". Select that and then navigate to your downloaded image and select it. Once the image is on your new layer, in the Layers Pane on the right side of the screen using the down arrow at the bottom of it, click on it to move your layer down (thus putting the layer "behind" your background). If your Layers Pane isn't currently showing, press "F7" to open it. EDIT: See the right side of the screen shown below: To take a screenshot of your current project, press the "Prt Sc" (print screen) key on your keyboard. Next go to the menus and select File>New (or you can use the keys "Ctrl + N"). Once a new canvas has opened up, press "Ctrl + V" to paste your screenshot to the new canvas.
  13. That may be a good possibility - since I did the piece, I've thought it was one of my better ones (that one and the football player crashing through the laptop screen).
  14. LMAO, you know when I put that grasshopper in there, it never even dawned on me the possibility of misconstruing it the way you did. That's hilarious! I only added for the sake of spicing it up a tad.
  15. Have a look at this and see if this is what you're after: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/19517-beginner-image-merging-image-heavy/
  16. Use the line tool. Create another layer, then with the line tool, draw lines to frame it in. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/LineCurveTool.html
  17. Well, did you try it on a smaller area? It's not limited to size I presented, I just wanted to show the effect.
  18. What you're describing is the gradient tool. Here's an example:
  19. If I'm understanding this correctly, you want to blur outside the selection then what you need to do is invert the selection. The blur is going to apply to the area you are selecting, so once you select the rectangled area press Ctrl + I to invert the selection and then apply the blur. This should leave the previously selected area intact and apply it to the selected area. EDIT: The below demonstrates that the garage door was first selected, then the selection was inverted and blur is being applied to the newly selected (inverted) area:
  20. Here's a quick example of what I accomplished by erasing a portion of the dirt pathway and applying a brick texture to a separate layer beneath the original and using the layer rotate function as described by Minners. Again this is just done quickly to show you what you can accomplish. It'll obviously take more work to apply a front edge to the bricks and add shadowing back into the picture to match the originial. EDIT: You can also use the brightness setting to darken it a bit and/or hue/saturation to more closely match the brick shading from the original. EDIT: Here's 3 examples using a mix of textures and adding shadow back in to the image(s). Also, the images used already contained perspective aspects to them so I didn't require using the layer rotate function:
  21. NN, thank you very much. As far as any tutorial is concerned, though I'm honored you think I should create one/some, I'm not sure that it's necessary. My work may be improving in different respects I guess, but there's nothing in anything I've done that isn't already demonstrated elsewhere in existing tutorials, so in my opinion there's not really anything new to offer. I am however pleased and honored that you thought I should.
  22. I think I have shortened resolution for you. Create a new canvas the same size as current canvas, then copy the couple layers to the new canvas to view them. If all is well, then delete the layers but not the canvas. Then if there are a couple more layers you want to view separately, copy them as well and view them.
