  1. Hello Dayne, Sorry - I'm not on Pdn4 yet - sounds worrying? - hey deadlines! If using your preferred colour or black and absolute white for the pattern, there are various ways to turn the white transparent. 1. Could you select and delete the Secondary color? (magic wand global - wasn't good in 3.5.11). 2. Try the 'Grim color reaper' plugin to erase white? (good plugin & simple to understand). http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=15595 3. Many other ways - respond if you get stuck! I would create the pattern in black and white - remove the white with Grim color reaper, then recolour the black 'object' pattern with my 'Object2colour' plugin, but there are many ways. Good luck with the deadline!
  2. Personally I don't use the Imgur uploader plugin (too many plugins! ). I prefer to log into the site to upload images and get the links. I'm glad you have found a work-around to use it though.
  3. The imgur links seem to be working as before now - linking back to just the image. Good! - I can go back to recommending them again.
  4. Hello again monument, I'm not really sure what you are trying to do here - is it really just a Pdn palette that you want?... or do you want to use a photo of a granite texture to 'wrap around' a C.A.D object? If the latter, then C.A.D programs can often import a custom texture ( a small repeating 'tile' image) and do all the shading for you. (I've only used 'google Sketch up' and that can). Not sure if I've helped or confused!
  5. You could try my 'alpha-threshold' plugin - in my plugin pack - link in sig below. Or you could make 2 layers - one with anti-aliasing (bottom) and one without(top) and lower the transparency of the top layer. The two layers will need to be perfectly aligned though.
  6. This looks like a well put together tutorial with an impressive result. Good work!
  7. Not posible exactly the way you describe but it may be worth trying Madjik's 'Gravity' plugin. Here:http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=7968 It can move opaque pixels across to fill in the space where transparent pixels are. It won't work if your puzzle pieces have an 'undercut' though.
  8. I just tried it in FileTypes but on Pdn 3.5.11. It shows up as a choice when you go to save (though I do get an error - most probably my mistake). You say it used to be found under Effects/Distort? May you be thinking of another effect? Possibly 'Tile Image' - by Curtis Black, 'Tile Reflection' or 'Tiles Reflection XY' or even 'Tile from clipboard'? Try using the Plugin Browser here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/29308-the-plugin-browser-updated-2014-08-08/ Select the 'Menu' button and click on 'Distort' and it will suggest plugins in that submenu. Or try the keyword 'Tiles'. Hope that helps.
  9. Latest four look great - well done! off topic (slightly): Pdn wasn't around when Escher was alive and besides plotting his images out by hand he then engraved them into end grain box wood for printing! - a peerless draughtsman with a deep understanding of mathematics. Well worth exploring his ideas.
  10. Very impressive skills Pixey. The light slanting past his ear is particularly well done.
  11. Excellent improvement! A very useful tool for Pdn, both 3.5.11 & 4. Thank you TR, E.E.R & Midora for implementation, information and ideas. - ... and one plugin to rule them all. (sorry J.R.R.T)
  12. The new ones look good Seerose! I like the string&pin/kaleidoscope combination.
  13. Hello monument - welcome to the forum! I would recommend TR's Color Reducer (and palette maker) here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/29424-trs-color-reducer-and-palette-maker-2014-08-01/ 1. Download, unzip the file and place in the 'Effects' folder - there are instructions on installing plugins here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/1708-how-to-install-pluginsgeneral-plugin-troubleshooting-thread/ 2. Re-start Pdn and open your image. 3. Run the Color Reducer plugin and move the lower left slider to the right until the 'Save Palette' button becomes active. 4. Save your Palette. 5. In the Colors window open the Palette you have just created. Good luck!
  14. 1. Clean up your photo - get rid of any spurrious background. Lots of lasso select and magic wand. - simplify! 2. set Primary and secondary colours. 3.Try this:http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/29450-two-tone-threshold-new-30th-july-2014/ 4. good luck!
  15. Another polished gem! - well, orb really - but very well made, as ever - good work
  16. Mesmerizing Skullbonz ! - good discipline working in black & white.
  17. Creating a sig with only two plugins - (by any author) is a tall challenge! Drew & Pixey have both made very good sigs - I hope others can rise to the challenge too. Personally I used Pdn for months before downloading any plugins. I think it is good experience, especially for newer users to learn how to fully use the built-in tools. (I'll exclude myself from this one, but I do admire what the regular competitors can do with such small images!) Thanks for running the comp' Drew! It would be nice if some new users pick up the gauntlet and give it go.
  18. I just checked mine - and yes, unfortunately it looks like they're directing to an 'album' page now. Oh well - no point recommending them anymore.
  19. Well spotted NN79! - We've got E.E.R so busy it's a wonder he had time to write anything this month - forgiven.Hi - Ho
  20. That's a great soloution Midora. I hope Cheezl tries codelab.
  21. Good use of the plugins Mottoman - many thanks for posting the example. @TR - Thanks for the undeserved compliment. If it wasn't for the generous attitude of coding experts like yourself and all on developers central, none of my plugins would work! (still out of reps today)
