  1. Perhaps the 'Halftone' plugin here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=18811 or use the fill options for the paint bucket tool? (scroll down from where it says 'Solid Color'') You could also try the 'Stipple' or 'Dots' plugins too - both listed in the index. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=25637 Hope that's what you meant. Ninja'd!
  2. My apologies to the 67 people who have downloaded the first version. Please can you replace it with the updated version. Technical stuff: I managed to crash the plugin with an out of memory exception and after investigating realised I had forgotton to 'Dispose' of a 'Brush'. Sheer mistake, sorry! New version disposes the brush correctly. ( Don't know why I overlooked the brush - I disposed the pen and the Path ok).
  3. Good work Jimez! Glad you are learning the 'tricks' to get a 3D look - thanks for posting the image.
  4. Really good Pixey! The last one was great, so is this one. Metallic top very effective!
  5. Well done Goonfella! - I can see how much work has gone into that - great result & thanks for posting it.
  6. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/2932-read-first-the-rules-yes-you-read-this-2013-12-21/ rule 23 Sorry Lou Ann - we can do our best to help you use Pdn but not do it for you.
  7. It's easy to misunderstand people on the internet - I've done it myself! Once you work out the basics: how to create and move selections, copying and pasting, creating and moving layers and the idea of 'transparency', You should find it much easier. As Pixey says - simply playing with the tools for a while will help. There are also hints in the bottom left corner for some tools.
  8. 1. Open Paint.Net 2. Press the F1 key, it will take you to the online documentation.(This is slightly outdated since the release of Pdn4 but is still relevant ... and being updated). 3. You may be frustrated but 'biting' other users will not help you learn.
  9. Aah - codelab 2.3 builds with .NET 4.5 - so not for Pdn3.5.11 I'll copy the code into codelab v1.8 to play later!
  10. Excellent start Goonfella! - that's exactly the use I had in mind. You should find the 'involute' tooth shape meshes with other gearwheels more easily than the other shapes. All shapes should be ok to line up together (if the tooth size is the same), but involute requires the least clearance gap. I did increase the slider accuracy but you will still need a steady hand to line them up perfectly! (the offset angle should help too) Good luck and thanks for posting the image.
  11. Hello Bruce - welcome to the forum! As I understand, you cannot change the selection or canvas size from within a plugin. The plugin rules are here btw: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/13129-rules-for-plugins-that-are-published-on-this-forum/ On my 'Composition tool' plugin I change the unwanted areas to transparent white (bgra = 255,255,255,0) . Once the plugin has run, the user can select this area, invert the selection and crop to selection. http://orums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/22810-composition-tool/ Hope that helps
  12. Good work Skullbonz! Thanks for posting the image. (I'm currently out of reps )
  13. Many thanks Seerose! And thank you too Pixey ( I hadn't written 'gears' when you published your tut' - besides, it is good for new users to learn how to construct things without relying too much on plugins). Daniels - Thanks for the compliment! - much appreciated. It is always good to ask yourself 'how is that done' - then, by experimenting, you can often find different soloutions and new techniques.
  14. Thanks for the compliment TR! Midora - Yes the Submenu name should make it easier to find the plugin. However my Render menu is full, so I would expect regular users to also have the problem of finding any effect in that section. I created the 'Iterative lines' Submenu name mainly for 'Slinky', 'StringAndPin' and 'Helix' as they belong together and any user using one would naturally want to try the others. I then added 'Dryad' as it is closely related to the other three and invited TR to add his 'TreeMaker' plugin too. Now with 'Gears' added there are enough effects to justify its creation. If they had all been in Render users would spend all day scrolling up and down to find them! Gears uses two loops - one for teeth and one for spoke-holes, so it does 'iterate'. My plugins 'Squirkle','Highlight' and 'Gradients Galore' do not iterate in the same way and belong in Render. I agree with TR about Render being too broad a category but I do think seriously before creating a new SubMenuName. It is easy for the Effect menu to become overcrowded too. If you have plans to further develop your Path tools/Vector plugin I would be glad to share my source code (bear in mind my code is not as elegant yours though! ) - P.M. me and I'll upload to dropbox.
  15. TR - Thanks for posting the image - hope you're enjoying your holiday! Thanks Skullbonz. Drew - great image - I like the colour variations - thanks for posting it. Pixey - Ironing? - learn to love the creases, life's too short! - thanks for commenting. xod - excellent! - thank you, very clever use of the plugin. Seerose - thank you for posting the image, good to see you exploring the different options. Pixey - you just posted another excellent image - love it! - many thanks. Yes I thought the round spoke hole option could have helped on your film reel tut' (set the tooth height to zero).
  16. Drew,Goonfella, AnthonyS, BBQ & TR - Thanks all for the positive feedback. Anthony - there a still thousands of ideas for plugins to invent - and there is nothing wrong with providing alternative versions of older plugins either. Plus there are new features in Pdn4 for authors to explore too - eg. clipboard alpha and AA'd selections, so don't worry about ideas for new plugins. Often, writing one leads to ideas for another three! (You may need another surface for your edge detect plugin to get around the R.O.I lines B.T.W - but Boltbait and TR are better to advise you on that.) TR - I thought this would be an easy one to write - I was wrong! - the G.D.I+ can be infuriating sometimes! (+Happy to edit the thread text when a searchable format for plugin index is agreed too). Thanks for commenting. I forgot to say - I'd love to see what images you can make using it and please post them here!
  17. ::keywords::gear|cog|pulley|sprocket|chainwheel|nut|washer|wheel|bearing|involute|teeth ::Menu::Effects/Iterative lines ::Original release date:: 22nd of August 2014 ::Author:: Red ochre (John Robbins) ::dll name:: Gears An easy way to render a wide variety of gear and wheel shapes. Works well with 'clipwarp' - simply use 'overblur' on the gear object created and copy a metallic image to the clipboard then run clipwarp. Two examples below (with rotate/zoom & Pyro's 'Trail' added too). Red ochre v10 plugin pack Enjoy! -
  18. johnnysdream, TR, Seerose, Sasha, BBQ, Helen, Pixey & Sand33p - thank you all for taking the time to comment. It's been over a year since the last update to page one - so here are another 20 odd. Mostly experiments again - some textures, some abstracts and some clues as to the plugins I've been working on. I will be releasing another one very soon.
  19. Well done Pixey - well done all! A very difficult topic. Great to see how many took up the challenge and the variety of results. Personally, I really like Mottomans's entry, though it got least votes - that's the trouble with democracy! - should have been a 9 way draw. Thanks Chimay & Drew for hosting too!
  20. The new Avatar/Sig looks good Riddley. I particulary like your 'Abstract Triangle' image but they are all well made images. Good work!
  21. Castle in the clouds is great Skullbonz - cool image, well done!
  22. Valley views is very dramatic - good work! Very impressive gallery. 'Polaroid', 'Transit' and 'Encounter' are my favourites.
  23. Wallpaper? - Widescreen T.V.? Seriously though, do what you want - if you enjoy making it that will show in the finished picture. Don't worry if people will buy it or not - that will only stiffle your creativity. Good work on the two recent abstracts and 'Ranga' looks suitably ominous too!
