  1. Does anything show up in Event Viewer? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427
  2. Using a transparent new layer above the background draw an unbroken outline around the squirrel, magic wand inside and copy and paste from the background into a new layer. Then use Black and White in Adjustments on the background layer and merge the color squirrel down onto it. You'll need to draw the outline carefully only under the foot and tail, everywhere else you can leave a margin outside the squirrel.
  3. pyrochild.effects.common.dll is outdated and can be removed. CustomBrushes.dll can be removed it has been updated to CustomBrushesMini.dll "Full error message: This plugin is now built-in to Paint.NET." These can be ignored.
  4. walterg: Your first step has to be getting the NET framework reinstalled properly. For help with that, do a Google search for --- Windows XP tech support forum. If Paint.NET still won't install after reinstalling up to the NET Framework 3.5 SP1, then come back here and create a new topic about the problem.
  5. Most of these plugins have been updated to work with PDN v. 3.51. Just go to the plugin threads, download and install the new versions.
  6. Double-clicking on the AlphaMask.dll file will not install it. This link gives instructions on plugin installation: HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS For additional help, post your questions in the thread linked to above.
  7. Have you tried doing a System Restore to a Restore Point prior to the first failed installation attempt?
  8. I don't know the timing of all this. If you have a good Restore Point from before the original installation, doing a System Restore might work. (System Restore, not System Recovery)

  10. Don't know how you found this thread from 2008, there are a few like this that are much more recent. Usually, saving in Paint.NET as a .png, then saving from that .png as a .jpg works fine when this JPEG saving problem crops up.
  11. Some of the tutorials on the wiki are actually available in the tutorial section. Just a matter of bad links in the wiki. Try using forum Search with the tutorial titles as keywords. Best of luck.
  12. webirtles: Any additional info you can provide may be helpful. What version of Paint.NET are you dealing with? v.3.36, v.3.5Beta, v.3.5, v.3.51? Did this problem develop without apparent cause? Was it the result of an upgrade install attempt? Did anything else go wrong on your computer at about the same time? What exactly happens when you try to open and/or uninstall? Did a PDN Crash log show up on your desktop? All we have to go on is the information you provide. So far that is very little. The fault report sent by the program is sent anonymously, so far as I know, so it won't aid in solving this. We on the forums don't ever see them in any event.
  13. You need to click this first,, in the Tool window.
  14. It goes in the Paint.NET/Effects folder. HOW TO INSTALL PLUGINS With the Move tool you can move your selection pixel by pixel with the keyboard arrow keys.
  15. Open Paint.NET and resize the canvas so that both images will fit side-by-side. Image > Canvas Size... Then import the images. Layers > Import From File... Position the images so that they look right, then flatten. Image > Flatten Now crop and resize the image. To crop, make a rectangular selection, then: Image > Crop to Selection... Image > Resize... ================================== If each original image is 2000X1000, side-by-side they will be 4000X1000. 4 to 1. 995 X 291 gives 3.42 to 1, so some cropping or other adjustment will be needed to make things work.
  16. It works with my v.3.5. I just made a giraffe turn green.
  17. You have a double set of[/img]. Take a off of the beginning and a [/img] from the end. See if that helps.
  18. CustomBrushesMini plugin by Simon Brown. The brushes go in a folder, yes.
  19. Don't know whether you have seen this: Link Removed.
  20. Okay. That is normal. =================================== In Paint.NET's top menu, look at the Utilities for Error message.
