  1. Caits: No help here with getting a previous version, as it's against the forum rules. What you have described is not usual behaviour for the new version. It is likely something that can be fixed. Any additional relevant info that you can provide may speed things along. ==================================================== Is your system XP, Vista...? What actions specifically cause the freeze? When it freezes, does pressing Esc free it up? Have you tried using Pdnrepair, located in the Paint.NET program directory?
  2. It was opened in GIMP and saved as an .xcf file. That .xcf file was then opened and saved as a .psd file.
  3. Try this to see if it gives you what you expected. http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fi ... 3454268825
  4. Try this file: Download link. http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fi ... 3454268825 Edit ---
  5. I believe that is the correct plugin. File Types is the recommended directory, although it seems to work from the Effects folder also. Odd. Have you been able to verify by other ways that this .psd file contains the additional images that you want? That it is not a damaged file, I mean.
  6. Sure. Click this link and check out the tutorials by lindsaykorsen and tabou. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/forum/22-image-and-photo-touch-ups/
  7. Very strange. These fonts show up and work okay in your word-processor - Word Pad or whatever? You might try going to your Folder Options and ticking Show Hidden Files and Folders. See whether that makes them show up in the Fonts directory. The fonts not showing in the Fonts folder seems to point to a font problem rather than a PdN problem. If they don't show in the folder there may be some corruption in the font files in question.
  8. He doesn't want that, we've been thru that already.
  9. They are random sized, but in the right ratio, I believe. Final step is to resize up to what you want as finished size. Try it and see.

  11. I just checked, PdN let me set 1680 X 1050 as a ratio! Should be good to go now.
  12. In Paint.NET's menu bar, Utilities > Manage fonts... It will open your Windows Fonts folder. You can remove fonts from there if you wish to.
  13. OK. Make your selection at your ratio, crop, then resize with maintain aspect ratio checked.
  14. Set it to crop to a fixed size rather than a fixed ratio. Set the 72 DPI first.
  15. Assuming that you have a desktop shortcut for Paint.NET, right-click on the shortcut. Then click Properties. Click the Button that says either - Open File Location or Find Target. This should open your Paint.NET program folder. Look for pdnrepair. (Not the one that says .config)
  16. Yes. Wrong place. Do you know how to get to your Program Files? Also, XP, Vista...?
  17. It is inside the Paint.NET program folder. I think you can just click on it. (With PdN closed.)
  18. No. Not really. It sounds like you may be talking about one of two things, both of which can be done fairly easily with PdN. Maybe you could explain a bit further.
  19. So, pasting the hex into the box in the Colors window sets the primary color to the hex. Leaving the secondary color at default white? And now it does absolutely nothing. I suppose at this point I'd try rebooting the PC. If no joy from that, maybe run pdnrepair.exe. =================================== If you paste the hex, does the regular paintbrush draw the hex color ok?
  20. gradon33: It's tough to guess about this. Are you working on the wrong layer, is there a selection active on another part of the canvas? Does anything at all happen when you try the recolor tool?
  21. RHoward: How about starting with a close-up as a base, and building from there? http://knightflyer.tripod.com/SpitfireZD.jpg
  22. In some cases pressing Ctrl D first will help. This is when there is a selection active and you are trying to add text outside the selection area. Ctrl D is deselect.
