  1. @ klaxxon, That is cool, some drop shadow or a backgoround needed to show the white edges?
  2. If you guys are aiming this effect, then there is a short but complicated method, you can even control the angle of rotation, I can make a video if you like it:
  3. @ babypoodle, Try this technique, use the built in Emboss for more flexiblity to the light direction: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/22702-make-a-3d-shield-icon/
  4. Nice work Prosper, Units and Sky created in PDN, Mountains are Google earth, Spaceships created in Sketchup. For full size 550 MB Click
  5. EER, But I still post it, sorry. Mountains Google-earth.!
  6. Nice effect Welshy. @ xeNium, WelshBlue is right, the purpose of my tutorial was just of how to get the 45 bevel effect on the text, then you can add your own texture, light and colors as desired, it all depends on your taste and experience with PDN. A quick try, here I duplicated the Splinted layer and set the blend mode of top layer to Negation then applied Diffuse plugin on default (not sure what was the angle), on the lower layer I used Emboss with - 90 degree. then overlay the text with Cloud layer, then adjust the colors:
  7. Congratulations EER, that was well deserved, And congrats everyone, all sigs are nice so far , especially Lioyd, that was a good step. As usual Drew, great job.
  8. Very nice work, I like the designs and the textures, I too like to play with cogs , my phones lock screen is all cogs lol I was reading through the comments, and would like to thank Nitenurse for referring to my image, and yes it is in the Abstract forum. A great improvement to the shadow, but you miss it on the large cog casting form the arm, it was there at the first image, but not on the last one. You have mentioned as something like swirls on the sun gear, do you meat as a texture?
  9. Thanks Dryda and Welsh, I appreciate your comments. @ Welshy, is that effect called HDR or Crossprocessing? I am really not so sure And to add the washers is a good idea, but as a 2D they will look just as a line, I will try to put some on an angle for 3D.
  10. Congratulation WelshBlue, it is a nice idea to have PDN tv, so we sit and watch it the whole day.! And Barbie, Helen and dryda, nice logos/banners, I am glad I voted to you and to Welsh as well. NIce entries all of you. And thanks Daniels.
  11. @ruup20, nice spacescape.! 2D-bolts with nuts, all PDN
  12. LONDON NEBEL, is really nice. some great designs there.
  13. Use lasso tool with Add (union) mode, but bear in mind, the Multiply blend mode will apply on the whole layer no matter if there are selections or no. Or maybe I didn't understand your question correctly.
  14. I meant something like this: Quick try: http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss69/sargon2/tutorials/fromwaterfalls_zps2162780b.jpg From this waterfall image: http://cs-theprovince.s3.amazonaws.com/CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.WeblogFiles/cancer/5432.waterfall.JPG
  15. I think it is not just about the file type, but also about the quality of the saved file as e.g.100%, 90%,......etc. so you need to set the default of the quality as well, I am sure you don't like to keep it 100% all the time. As long as we are talking about default settings, is there a way to reset the Resampling option to Best Quality in the Image Resize dialog window everytime when restaring PDN?
  16. Amazing work Welshy and a well deserved winning, that what I was thinking of when I chose the theme, An skullbonz, you too, mate deserve the winning and congrats for being in a 2nd place Thanks everyone for participating and voting, some nice entries there. Another well run comp Drew.
  17. Amazing, I know how hard it is to create a large planet, but you did it very well, I like the texture, and the spaceship is a great touch and in good position.
  18. They are so smooth and sweet, they need some more highlight and texture. Find some waterfall photos and select the parts that match the water splash, copy and paste them on the lower part of the dolphins, that should do the trick. I like Dolphins-1
  19. Such a wonderful piece of art , thanks for posting new work, I am really missing your valuable work, the orbs are so shiny and breakable can't resist my hand to not touching them, the floor is just amazing with those dark colors.
  20. You're welcome, another good feature about the plugin is when you draw the lines on a specific layer using the plugin and exit it, and then press undo in PDN, add new layer and press Ctrl+F (or click repeat in the Effect menu) you will have all the drawn lines on a new transparent layer.
  21. Use Polygon Tool plugin, I know it doen't support AntiAlias, but using the plugin with right click and 2 or 1 pixel line width will do the job faster and acceptable. Edit: sorry forgot to put the link: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=9381
  22. You need to place the small image on a new layer ( add new layer on the large image and paste the small image on this new layer), If correctly understood your question.
