Make the canvas bigger. Large enough to house the image when rotated at any angle. Now when you rotate the image within the canvas, the size won't change. Print it by centering it on an a4 page. PS3: Plugins ONLY work on the active layer. Flatten the image in one go with Ctrl + Shift + F. The only plugin that handles printing is this one Printer+. I don't recall it doing rotations - could be wrong.

printing several pictures
Ego Eram Reputo replied to pdkde's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Nothing is wrong. The print size is a function of the image size and the print resolution (DPI). Very simply, the print size will be the image size in pixels divided by the DPI that you're printing at. See my mini-tutorial here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/24680-help-on-printing-edited-photos/#entry372245 In depth discussion of DPI: http://forums.getpai...-print-and-web/ -
An excellent case for keeping it! I have mentally renamed this control the "eyeball"

Recommended this plugin again today. I love it! I tickled the donate button - hope this is making Pyrochild plenty!

moving portions of image
Ego Eram Reputo replied to maggyb1's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
No such thing as a dumb question around here. Welcome maggyb1! Complex, due to the complexity of the image itself. How much did you wish to move it? My first thought would be to try Pyrochild's excellent Liquify Plugin. Here's what I managed with a few short strokes from a very large brush. -
Just to clarify: GIF's support transparency too, however Jim is quite right about the quality. GIF's are limited to a palette of 256 colors so are not going to render the same breadth of palette. This may be OK for a simple image (without areas composed of gradients or variable transparency).

1. Duplicate the layer :DuplicateLayer: 2. Select the top layer by clicking on it. 3. Press F4. 4. Change the Blend Mode to Multiply. 5. Merge the top layer down. Repeat as many times as you need. The Multiply blend mode has the effect of darkening the original layer. More on Blend Modes >> http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/BlendModes.html

Editing Green Screen/Layering
Ego Eram Reputo replied to suunchild's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
(Once we have the language barrier crossed...) The reason you're seeing one image in one corner is that the images are very different sizes. When you import, the canvas is being expanded to the size required to house the largest image. Make both images the same dimensions and you'll have no problem importing. -
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programmes. Select the .NET Framework and click change/remove (I know it sounds a bit odd). Select REPAIR and let it do it's stuff. Remember that this software is provided free. Rick (Paint.NET developer) is very busy developing version 4.0 and not here to solve issues that may not even be related to Paint.NET. That said, Rick makes himself available on the forum a great deal - more than most other developers I know of.

Change default setting
Ego Eram Reputo replied to SkipOldNavy's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Welcome to the forum SkipOldNavy! This question has been asked many, many times. See - this post is dated 2007! http://forums.getpai...pe-when-saving/ This more recent effort has a nice workaround http://forums.getpai...e-type-setting/ This is the most recent discussion, including why the default filetype is PNG (hint - it's lossless) and not JPG (it is lossy - losing data and fidelity each time the file is saved) http://forums.getpai...jpg-as-default/ I hope this answers your question. Finally I think that you're perhaps overstating the case for JPG. For one, it doesn't support transparency at all. This makes it less than desirable for web graphics for example. JPG's certainly have their place (think photos). -
Fade to background
Ego Eram Reputo replied to pipsgeorge's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Glad I can help you out pipsgeorge. I should also like to welcome you to the forum! These tips are published. There are even multiple ways to open the properties dialog. You've found one! (probably the most used) The others are: 2. Double click on the layer. 3. Click this icon in the Layers Window :LayerProperties: 4. In the Layers menu (last item) These are all listed in the online documentation (press F1 in Paint.NET). Question #2 The checkerboard pattern is Paint.NET's way of denoting transparency. If you save the file in a format that supports transparency (e.g. PNG, but not JPG) then these areas will be transparent. As you're using this image on a website, I recommend the PNG format, but also have a look at compressing it with the OptiPNG plugin to squash the file size down to a minimum. -
Shouldn't be anywhere else. A quick search of the forum revealed this thread: Resident Expert Pyrochild first recommended repairing the .NET frameworks. If that doesn't work try the hint in post #4. Finally, read right through the thread, then return to post #22 and try the steps listed there. Note: Do try these in the order specified - they go from easy to hard Please let us know what worked/didn't work.

Press F4. Lower the opacity to wash it out. You may need a background layer of white (or the same color as your website background) to appreciate the effect properly. -
