  1. Is this any help? http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=14848 These keyboard shortcuts might help Ctrl + + increases the zoom level. Hit this combination several times to zoom in on your sprite. Ctrl + - decreases the zoom level. Use this to zoom back out or Ctrl + Shift + A to see it actual size.
  2. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/24961-the-new-layer-styles-request-topic-for-paintnet-40/?p=376960
  3. I don't know if there is an option here http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/16607-blendmodes-plus-v235-32410/ ?
  4. There are several RAW reading plugins. Have a look through the Plugin Index (post #8 lists the filetype plugins)
  5. I was going to remove this poll, but decided to let it run. Capitalization can be a problem in different situations. Consider starting a sentence with 'paint.net'. It just looks wrong. So you whack on a capital p. Now you have 'Paint.net'. That looks better. Except that its not now all lower case. Does paint.net = Paint.net or not? I personally think 'Paint.NET' covers all situations nicely. It's what I tend to use.
  6. If you are saving a master file as a pdn file, add a copy of your original image as a non-visible layer. You can do the same with removed selections. Paste them into as new layer and hide it. These techniques ensure your deconstructed image can be restored if needed.
  7. You need memory to keep other bits of Windows running, plus any other apps you have loaded. Your 1.4Gb is very small by today's standards. Really you've got three options: 1. Make the image as large as your system can handle. Remember each new layer you add increases the memory overhead. 2. Install more memory. It's cheap. Of course XP has reached the end of its life, so..... 3. Get a flash new system with 64 bit Win8 and oodles of memory. Poof. Problem gone
  8. Get it from the top right link on this page http://www.getpaint.net/ If the problem persists, read this thread http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/692-install-update-or-uninstall-trouble-read-this/ . Particularly posts #6, #7 and #8.
  9. I've just promoted that work to the Galleria. It certainly deserves to be there. Congratulations Red.
  10. The mini's would get their own thread each in the new section. It would make maintenance and tagging topics much easier, as well as condensing subsequent discussions.
  11. One of my favorite enhancement tricks is to duplicate the golf ball layer then on the upper layer set the blend mode to multiply. Hint press F4 to open the layer properties dialog.
  12. I like Midora's suggestion that Ctrl+E (or whatever) reopens the last plugin dialog. That would be useful!
  13. That's not a bad suggestion. I like it.
  14. I forgot to mention that the downloadable versions of the Plugin Index also list the location in the menu system for each plugin. I could create a list of plugins-by-menu-location if people would find it useful....
  15. What do people think of the idea of a "Most recently used" list of plugins at the top of the Effects menu? Perhaps as a sub-menu of four to nine plugins?
  16. This is remarkable! Truly. Thanks Yellowman Pinned.
  17. Whether you agree or not, the author is giving away his/her work for free. It is entirely their decision as to which menu or sub-menu their plugin resides in. The author decides this location when the plugin is built, so there is no way to alter it - apart from appealing to the author Mostly I entirely agree with the placement of plugins within Paint.NET's menu system. So no, it's not possible to move the plugin location within the menu system. I DO understand your situation. As the person maintaining the Plugin Index I have a huge number of plugins installed at any one time. My best advice? Cull some of the unused ones. Really. New sub-menus are created as needed. If you remove the last plugin from a custom sub-menu it should disappear. Note for this and your previous post - the plugin section is for publishing plugins. Questions about individual plugins should be asked in the thread for that plugin. Generalized plugin questions - like yours - belong elsewhere which is why I've moved both of your posts. <moved to Paint.NET Discussion & Questions>
  18. This is not a plugin - so it doesn't belong in the publishing section of the forum. <moved to Paint.NET Discussion & Questions> In answer to your question, it's about keeping all things Paint.NET in one location. I think the forum is a great place to house plugins. I created the Plugin Index to create a bit of order in the plugin section of the forum. If you follow that link, you'll find the Plugin Index is available in three different formats for free download. The Epub/Kindle and PDF version lists the plugins alphabetically. That's got to be easy to use?
  19. Welcome to the forum splatcat. That's a great username you have there The ads have been mentioned many times before. They help keep Paint.NET free and we all want that don't we? If you look carefully (VERY carefully) you'll see that the ads are often deliberately misleading but the clues are there. I guess the best advice is 1. Be careful what you click on and 2. Install and ad blocker.
  20. Ok, here's the slightly more verbose version of my answer (I was in a hurry ). This plugin AlphaSpace is generally the one I reach for when I want to remove a simple black or white background. If you follow the link the demo images should make it's function clear. Honestly - it's a doddle to use. Grim Color Reaper does much the same, but there are a lot more options for removing any single color. It is a more complicated plugin than AlphaSpace. Which one you use is entirely up to you. There are many more plugins and ways to remove backgrounds These two plugins generally are the ones recommended for the task.
  21. Photobuckets Direct Link should be the raw URL (from memory). Surround that with thumb tags and you should have a working link of the type I posted earlier in this thread. That's the sort with the differing two-clicks action.
  22. Plain white background = I'd use the AlphaSpace plugin Others might recommend Grim Color Reaper. Horses for courses.
  23. Gosh. That's a nice effect for such a (relatively) simple source. I think I actually understand some of it Many thanks for both the effect and the source TechnoRobbo!
