Is there a free shape tool plugin?
BoltBait replied to Humility's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Not entirely true. This tool has been removed: I think we may be talking to the one and only person to miss that tool. More discussion here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/25598- -
Circle text doesn't show all fonts

If you are having trouble with a specific plugin, post in that plugin's thread. That way the author of the plugin will see it. I'm just going to close this thread. -
Problem with cutting out images tutorial
BoltBait replied to artpayne's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Save the image as PNG instead of JPG. When saving as PNG make sure the save screen has the bit depth "auto-detect" radio button selected. -
Since this is no longer broken in the latest version (4.0.9), I'm closing this thread. In the future, please be sure you're using the latest version before reporting bugs.

Is there a way to make JPEG the default save format?
BoltBait replied to flynby's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
No. Here's why: jpeg is a "lossy" format. That is, every time you open a jpeg and save it, you're losing quality. This is like making a photocopy of a photocopy, etc. PNG and PDN, on the other hand, are exact formats. You can open and save them as often as you like without losing a single pixel of quality. So, paint.net defaults to PNG format for single layer images and PDN for multiple layer projects. If you want to save as jpeg, you need to choose it by hand. This ensures that you won't lose quality in your image unless you specifically choose to do so. -

You could shorten up the UI by changing those radio buttons into drop-down lists. -

I live near Sacramento and see that bridge 2+ times per week when I drive past it.

Read the announcement: http://googlephotos.blogspot.com/2016/02/moving-on-from-picasa.html Google's other photo service, Google Photos, will live on. FYI=For Your Information EOL=End of Life Picasa=Photo storage site Does this announcement affect you?

You should not have to create the directory (paint.net should have created it for you). So, I'm guessing you've put this directory in the wrong place. Or, you're not running the proper version of paint.net (4.0.6+). Follow the directions here: http://boltbait.com/pdn/InstallingShapes.php

Building to DLL works for me. Did you follow the instructions and save your source file first? If so, do you see the source name in the CodeLab title bar? When you see that, does it still fail to build? If not, is there some reason why CodeLab can't write to your desktop? Are there illegal characters in the source filename. Try A-Z only and see if it builds then. Did you name your effect Untitled.cs? That's not gonna work.

The paint.net manual can be viewed by pressing F1 from inside of paint.net. That will take you here: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/index.html -

Try this: :LeftArrowBlue: (click) Remember, when saving your final output, save as PDN format to retain layer information. Then, save as PNG to save a web safe version that retains transparency. -

If the Image > Flatten menu item is grayed out, your image only has 1 layer. I'm thinking that you actually opened both pictures into different images. Can you show us a screenshot of your ENTIRE paint.net window? -
