Rick Brewster
That's how the translations are being done right now. Any new strings are using machine translation via Bing. That's part of the reason why so much of it is all... goofy. BoltBait
You blogged about providing your own translations with a clever bit of kit you developed... (http://blog.getpaint.net/2011/04/17/paint-net-in-24-more-languages-tldr-yes/) Is that going nowhere? Seems a shame.... Where do you think the translations like this come from: "Select you firstly the eyes with the selection tools, to a perfect result to get." ponycraft
Ok but what were you doing when it crashed? Oh sorry, w/o quote I didn't see you talking to me. If I remember correclty I was either zooming in and out or I was trying the magic wand tool. Windows 7 - 64bit | 8GB of RAM | i7 3rd-Gen
ponycraft
Think this is a bug. Gif hidden by spoiler. Zoom causing different coloring is very weird. Also the darker color isn't actually opaque, gif thing did that, it's just a much darker transparent from viewing. Zagna
I like using Launchpad for translating Pinta, somewhat simpler than N++ for paint.net. Not sure how it would work since pdn is no more open source so... but since it's only the translation and that could be under a Launchpad's BSD, or something. Ishi
This is not a feature request thread. However, look in the toolbar -- you can draw with the brush using any of the blend modes. Just tried this latest alpha version. I love how smooth it runs so great job on that one mate. And yes, I love the softness adjustable brush. Only problem is that many of the plugins from the Megalo Pack would just crash.
nitenurse79
Only problem is that many of the plugins from the Megalo Pack would just crash. The megalo pack is not only illegal. it also contains older versions of plugins and quite possible to be virus infected. This forum is the ONLY safe place to download plugins. LWChris
As for the translation stuff, I'm still not sure how I want to handle edits here. I'd prefer a system where I can toss the RESX files into a shared collaboration area, and then just pick up the community's edits anytime I go to release a new build. Thoughts? That would be great! I love translating stuff. I've been translator for the MediaWiki and Babelzilla projects for a long time. I'd love to provide the German translation for paint.net in case you need a translator for that. I think i18n and l10n is an important part of developing a successful application. I see the .resource files floating around in the program folder (as a programmer, I have to ask: shouldn't they be located in the "Resources/..." folder ?), and you mentioned resx files. Are you thinking of a public SVN like Git, a tool or a web editor for your resx files? resx files are plaintext XML. If you want a free tool as editor, that should be quite easy to accomplish for me. The IMHO ideal workflow would be: Your current resx files XSLT Simple XML l10n files Commit  Upload Update XSLT New resource strings Publically available* SVN server Build directory Your resx Checkout/Update   Commit Translators (+Tool?) * The password is mailed to the designated translators per PN here. Ego Eram Reputo
Only problem is that many of the plugins from the Megalo Pack would just crash. Megalo pack is illegal software piracy and contains the Evogen virus. You need to remove ALL of it and fix you infected system. Then replace the plugins with new versions downloaded from this forum. ponycraft
Think this is a bug. Gif hidden by spoiler. Zoom causing different coloring is very weird. Also the darker color isn't actually opaque, gif thing did that, it's just a much darker transparent from viewing. I also have a follow-up to this bug. While it goes darker, this happens simply dragging the tool over (not clicking) the canvas. Ishi
Megalo pack is illegal software piracy and contains the Evogen virus. You need to remove ALL of it and fix you infected system. Then replace the plugins with new versions downloaded from this forum. See: Megalo = Evogen Virus Thank you for your info. This is the first time I used Megalo Pack. Its just that I have not tried it before and I just tested it along with this new alpha build on my test machine. I have not yet tried the compilation of plugins that I currently use on my my main machine to my test machine with this alpha version installed. I will continue to use v 3.5.11 though until a more refined version 4 comes in. Once again, thanks for the warning. Ego Eram Reputo
You can install the Alpha version alongside 3.5.11 if you have concerns about plugin compatibility or stability. I used to do this but have recently moved to 4.0 exclusively. I've found there are very few plugins which won't work with the Alpha version of 4.0. ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker
Heyho123
Hi, first, thanks a lot for making paint.net. One bug I find most annoying is that it doesn't remember the window position an startup anymore. Also the tool windows always startup in the corners and not where I dragged them. I also find it very out of place the paint.net is written small everywhere. I can't think of any other application that does this. Especially in German where a lot of words are written in Capital this looks very strange. regards
Rick Brewster
Locking because I'm putting out a new build in just a few.
