mrallgames Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 I'm working with saving an image as a gif, using an indexed palette. When I save it as a gif, it opens fine but the issue arises when I try to analyze it. The analyzer says it cannot read the file. The specific issue stems from a program that reads the colours and pixels in the image and converts them to locations for purpose of making pixel comments in video games. The program can't read gif files made in paint.net but works just fine with gif's made in GIMP. I attached a gif file I made in paint.net so you can analyze for yourself. Quote

Without knowing what program you are referring to it will be hard to diagnose this. Paint.NET uses the GIF saving code that is built-in to Windows (Windows Imaging Component), and GIMP uses its own GIF saving code. Rick Brewster Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 "Analyze" ? "The analyzer" ? "The program" ? No idea what you're referring to. You have to be specific, we're not psychic. So I learned something today, after I looked GIF up 😬 "GIF images are widely used on the Web because the format is compressed and takes up less space." 😁 (I'd assumed they were all animated). BlastOfBN Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 @BoltBait And I thought I was the only one to acknowledge that the creators of the GIF format specifically made its pronunciation to mimic that of Jif peanut butter. PB&J, anyone? 🥪 P.S. There wasn’t a sandwich emoji that depicts a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, so… Quote
